Good morning from Malta where it is windy and cloudy. The dirty rain yesterday as made everywhere look filthy. No point cleaning though as we are due for more of the same.

Today is DD3’s birthday. Can’t believe she is 32, where have the years gone? I will be going to see her later, there will be cake involved which is always good.

Wishing everyone the best day possible.☀️

Good morning from north Surrey, overcast here.
Yesterday turned out to be a lovely day. The sun shone, we had a woodland walk with DD and GSs and dog and then a socially distant meet up with DS and his partner (her birthday) to hand over cards and presents. Saw GDS too, such a bonus.
This morning I am off to work, bit of a shock to the system as haven’t worked an early in months.
I will pop back this evening to read everyone’s news. Have a good day to all.

Gagagran Mon 22-Mar-21 06:31:30

Morning Mick and all who follow. Still cloudy here on the south coast and 4.2c on my weather station.

I'm doing laundry too, Mick and the usual chores. It all feels very "samey" but that's what we yearn for, normal routine, when fate steps in and gives us a knock out of the blue. Had enough of those this past year!

Have been wondering how much it would cost to have a genealogist draw up my maternal family tree. I have the one my Dad did for his side but it was in the days before computers when he had to do a lot of legwork. My maternal side interests me but I do not have the skills or energy to do the digging.

DH is just continuing his slow path to his new normal. We cope as best we can. He remains stoic and positive but is not in a good way really.

Hope the day is a good one for us all. sunshine

Good morning from yet another grey day in
E Kent. We are promised more of the same.
Bellasnana, cake is always good. Have you read “the boy, the mole, the fox and the horse”? It involves cake too and is one of the sweetest, kindest, most uplifting books I have read. The illustrations are reminds of EH Shepherd for Winnie the Pooh.
One year in lockdown! Golly! Hope we are let out soon, I think like others I have had enough.
Monday, cleaning.
DH is taking the car for its MOT though why we need one seems ridiculous, seeing we have filled the tank three times since its last test.
Hope *Pinchy” is improving and that everyone has a little chunk of spiritual sunshine ☀️ in their lives today. May you find a ? flamingo among the sparrows of your lives. ??

Beechnut Mon 22-Mar-21 06:42:54

Good Morning all from Severnside. It’s bright here and dry.

I have a few chores to do and then I might take myself off to a garden centre.

I did some weeding yesterday and was pleased with what I achieved but at the same time felt very lonely. It was very quiet.

I hope you all have a good day and take care ?

cornergran Mon 22-Mar-21 06:48:27

Morning Mick, morning All. It’s a bright start to our corner of Somerset. Good to see.

Bitty day for us. GP phoning me early-ish then Mr C has physio at lunch time. Admin for me in between as well as a combined think about our garden. We’re trying to make it easier to manage, so far only sorted one area. Two at the back and the front still to go. There could be differing views, nope there will be differing views grin.

Hope the sun comes out to brighten the day for you both gagagran. Happy birthday to your daughter bellasnana, enjoy the cake.

Take care everyone. Hope Monday is kind to us all.

Ashcombe Mon 22-Mar-21 06:48:43

Good morning, one and all from a clear and bright Torbay, heralding a fine day. ☀️

After church yesterday, I had a long chat by phone with DD2, during which we provisionally booked for me to visit them for a few days after 17th May, if rules remain as they are currently. Since an opportunity to visit DH in France is not likely to happen imminently, not least due to the prohibitive cost of privately booked Covid-19 tests, I decided to plan a family visit instead. I had hoped the success of the vaccination programme would lead to more flexible overseas travel.

My darling Dad oft quoted, “Blessed are those who expecteth nothing for they shall not be disappointed!”

Which about sums up life for us all at present. I hope everyone has as good a start as possible to the new week and that Pinchy is still soldiering on. Sorry if I’m a little lack lustre but I promise to try harder tomorrow.

Susan56 Mon 22-Mar-21 06:49:38

Good morning from Shropshire.Another day of sunshine forecast?

Another day doing the same for us too.DH will carry on working in the garden.I will do laundry, cleaning then hopefully a relaxing afternoon reading.I am finally feeling better??

It’s early days since your husbands surgery gaga, hopefully as the days go on and he can spend more time sitting in the sunshine and eating the food he fancies he will get stronger. Its a hard time for both of you?

I keep being tempted by that book mattie.Enjoy the cake Bellasnanna.

Hoping that Cherry,Mary and Auntieflo have all had a more restful, night and are feeling better today.

Have a good day all and thoughts to all coping with worries, illness and sadness?

Susan56 Mon 22-Mar-21 06:53:32

I’m not surprised you are feeling lacklustre Ashcombe.I think of you every time the vaccination fiasco in Europe is mentioned and also when there is a talk of continuing the ban on travel abroad.

I really hope things improve so you can be reunited with your dear husband?

Hello and good morning from a bright and sunny Northampton. I must go and find a load of washing to put on as it looks as though it will dry nicely outside today.

Spent a good couple of hours in the garden yesterday; emptied a large pot of its dead plant, tidied up another couple of shrubs, swept up a pile of leaves, then cut the grass. I now have at least half a dozen pots to fill with new plants, though when I can get to a garden centre I don't know. .Then I watched rugby on tv, but sadly not the result I wanted for my team.

May try out my new garden kneeler today and do some weeding, a job I hate.

Apart from that, another day of much the same. As it probably is for most us!

NanKate Mon 22-Mar-21 07:02:45

Morning Mick and All.

A bright sunny day here in South Bucks.

My ‘fed up’ mood due to weeks of incarceration seems to be reflected by us all at present. I’m grateful we are powering on with our vaccination programme and feel sorry for those folks on the Continent and beyond who seem to be lagging behind us. My hair is long and shaggy and I look a right mess. On the upside I’ve got a lot to be grateful for, such as him indoors to keep me company.

See you tomorrow folks.

GrannyGravy13 Mon 22-Mar-21 07:03:15

Good morning Mick and all

It’s trying to brighten up here in S E Essex, another day with nothing planned!! I am really struggling to find any motivation to do the few jobs that I have been putting off!!

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️

Ashcombe Mon 22-Mar-21 07:11:56

Thank you, Susan56 for your thoughtful post and NanKate. I need to shake myself out of this, not least because my problems are nothing compared with what others are facing. ?

Sheepandcattle Mon 22-Mar-21 07:21:00

Good morning all from a mild, cloudy Wiltshire. I’m sensing a general low-ness of mood from many of the Good-morning-ers this morning which is fitting with my mood too ?. I wonder if it has anything to do with the fact that we’re coming out of winter and had expected life to have started to get back to some sort of normality but now but it just feels like the ‘same old’ and that any problems we’re carrying suddenly seem heavier? I just feel anxious in general at the moment for no real reason - I hope it passes as it sucks the joy out of things that should be joyful. Where are those pesky flamingos when you need one?! ?
Our cows are misbehaving! They can see new grass coming up in the fields beyond the ones that they are in and they want out! The problem is that the ground is still quite soft and, if we move them onto new grass it’ll get churned up. Libs, the most disgruntled cow, decided yesterday that she could push her head under the BRAND NEW fence and lift it!? DH not at all impressed with this tactic and an emergency repair had to be done but today I think we’ll have to give into the cows demands and move them onto new pastures, which involves doing a big sort out of the 2 herds first as some need to swop into a different herd and some need to be kept back because sadly, their time on the farm has come to an end. It’ll be a busy morning as I’ll need to move the sheep and lambs onto new pasture first and moving lambs is like herding kittens! My dear dog is going to have his work cut out!
Thank you for all the advice and support for little Pinchy. I have a few extra items to add to my shopping list that people have kindly suggested that would help her.
It seems like most of us have industrious days lined up with gardening, laundry and housework, so wishing you all a constructive and fulfilling day with a sense of achievement at the end.

brook2704 Mon 22-Mar-21 07:21:21

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s dry and bright with some light grey high clouds.
Yesterday was another lovely sunny afternoon, we enjoyed a walk along the beach just outside Inverness, nowhere open for lunch of course so we found a sheltered spot and enjoyed our picnic! There was a group of very brave ladies swimming in the sea, no wetsuits or anything - it must have been so cold!
It must be so difficult ashcombe not being able to travel to see your DH or even make plans yet. I hope the visit to your DD2 helps in some way. I love that quote from your dad
My hair is the same nankate I’ve got an appointment mid April that can’t come soon enough
Today it’s housework and gardening, DH is making a start on painting the fence at DD2 garden so I’ll have an empty!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care whatever the day brings ?

Beauregard Mon 22-Mar-21 07:21:44

Good morning from Derbyshire where it's cloudy at the moment. We should see some sun later so I'll put a washing load in when DH gets up.

Yesterday's fence posts were knocked in without a hitch. Afterwards we did some work on the veg garden in readiness for this years planting. I still have last years leeks growing which are now getting in the way of DH's horse manure spreading ground preparation. Some were lifted and eaten for dinner but there are many left, along with parsnips I grew too many.

This morning we are taking DD's little dog to the vets for an xray. He is unable to bear weight on one of his back legs so they need to investigate and possibly operate on it. The vets is near a supermarket so I'll pick up a few things I need after we've dropped him off. Later more gardening to do.

Have a good day all.

nanna8 Mon 22-Mar-21 07:24:09

Good evening from Australia. We have had some much needed rain here today but as much as in New South Wales where there are dreadful floods, with people being evacuated from their homes. We have had a beautiful weekend, perfect weather, so the cooler weather is fine by me.

Grandmabatty Mon 22-Mar-21 07:28:53

Good morning all. It's cloudy and 5° in Polmont this morning. No sun after a glorious weekend. I'm on babysitting duties today so nothing planned. We'll be outside at some point. Leek and potato soup for lunch and mince round for tea. Have a good day all.

Pittcity Mon 22-Mar-21 07:39:13

Good morning from a brightening Colchester. May get some washing hung outside today.
A supermarket shop and a pile of ironing are today's exciting adventures.
Much love x

Gingster Mon 22-Mar-21 07:54:27

Good morning all and it’s looking bright here in Essex.
Good morning to you in Australia nanna8. Lovely to hear from you across the world ?.
Iit seems we are all feeling like Eeyore this morning. I feel the same ! I’ve just read about the riots in Bristol and that depressed me even more. ?
Kalu thanks so much for your window cleaning tips. DH and I did the conservatory windows and not a smear in sight. ?.
Happy birthday to Bellasnannas daughter. Enjoy the cake
I love that book mattie. So sweet and gentle.
gagagran you’re doing a grand job supporting your DH. Try to keep positive. Sending you a big ?.
My neighbour in Suffolk phoned me with news of up there. I’m so looking forward to being by the sea again. I hope Ashcombe it won’t be too long for you to be reunited with your DH. Who would have thought our lives would be so restricted and isolated from our loved ones?♥️
sheep you gave another busy day with your naughty cows. They seem to be determined to get to pastures new. Like all of us! ?.
I hope the day improves for us all . Let’s keep those chins up and find the positives in life . ??????

Urmstongran Mon 22-Mar-21 08:00:15

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where it’s dry and seems mild. I’m meting my walking buddy after lunch downstairs in the square. We get takeaway coffees there first before we set off!

I think many of us are feeling flat. I am too. It’s hard to keep drumming up some enthusiasm isn’t it? My stepfather said yesterday ‘this is a strange way to be living’. He brought me some sweeties from his corner shop. Here’s a pic to make you envious Marydoll...

Hope Monday is kind to us all. Your husband sounds a lovely man Gaga especially with such a long road ahead. Best wishes to you both as you travel it. Keep safe everyone that’s the main thing. x

Marydoll Mon 22-Mar-21 08:02:51

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, its 7°C. I have an empty, as soon as MrMD leaves, my Spotify list will be playing throughout the house on Sonos and Alexa! There is a huge discrepancy in our tastes, so I usually only play it in the kitchen or from my PC.
When I first went out with DH, I used to hear Deep Purple and Genesis, booming from his bedroom, ? as I approached his home. ( We lived around the corner from each other). Nothing has changed by way of volume, its just he is now hard of hearing! ?

I hope to get out in the garden for a bit of pottering, nothing arduous. I have lupins to plant, we have some ugly parts between the trees, which need filled in. I would have planted my potatoes, but I have discovered that my beloved husband, destroyed my potato barrel, when he cut off a heavy tree branch, which landed on it. He certainly kept that quiet!! ?. I think I may buy some potato bags, not sure how successful they will be.
My herb garden is also needing some TLC, but baby steps for me. Thats for another day.
Beauregard, every year I grow leeks, but never have great results. This year's stock are in the heated propagator in the conservatory at the moment and surprisingly have germinated. The specialty pepper seeds have come to nothing. ☹

Mr MD has asked for beef olives for dinner, YUK, so I plan to look for my pizza stone and make some pizza just for me. Not sure yet, what the toppings will be.
Before that, I'm going to steam clean my range. No matter how hard I try, it never looks clean, especially when the sun shines. It is really annoying me, as I long for the perfect, home magazine kitchen. It ain't going to happen, methinks. ?

Dragonfly, you have been in my thoughts, what a dreadful year you have had. How difficult and sad for you, not being able to see your husband Ashcombe, I cannot imagine what it is like.
So many of of our friends on here struggling.
Susan you always take the time to think of me, when I know you haven't been feeling too well yourself.
Auntieflo, Corner and Mr Gaga, all coping with pain and ill health too. ?

Wishing you all a pleasant day, without too much pain and stress. I'm off to turn up the volume of my music and sing! ???

ginny Mon 22-Mar-21 08:06:25

Good morning all. The weather is looking promising, the sun may just have found its hat.

Will put a load of washing on and have some breakfast. Then I will be meeting a friend for a walk and a coffee on the market place.

We managed to get MIL out on her electric ‘carriage yesterday. I can only say it’s a good job she is not able to drive a car now ! Still, she enjoyed being out in the fresh air but was very concerned about what the people we passed and spoke to thought of her hair. ?.

Hope you can all find a ? today.

Marydoll Mon 22-Mar-21 08:07:48

Urmston, how cruel! I have been trying for months to get Buchanan's fudge and chocolate dipped fudge, my favourite!
Now I know why, the Sassenachs have all the supplies. ?
