I have just had a text from Maw, saying that Hattie has been put to sleep, but I see that it has already been announced. So sorry for Maw, and feeling for her at the moment.

Nannytopsy Fri 26-Mar-21 18:02:10

Maw I am so sorry. You can see how much you are loved in the kitchen.
Come on GN.

Susan56 Fri 26-Mar-21 18:25:13

So sorry maw to hear this sad news.RIP Hattie.Sending much love to you.xx

Urmstongran Fri 26-Mar-21 18:25:26

Hello everyone. I come into this lovely place of comfort to bring you all sad news.

Our missing friend is totally in bits right now. She has asked if I Could post on Soops Kitchen that her darling Hattie was PTS this afternoon.

She was not able to be with her and hold her but was assured the vet nurses would cuddle her. She was a very poorly dog and the only possible remedy would have been major chest surgery with an indifferent prospect of success.

She was not prepared to put her through that trauma but now mourns her dear friend, knowing she gave her the best life she could and will be forever grateful for her comfort and love especially since her husband’s death.

She said was the sweetest girl without an aggressive bone in her body (unless you were a squirrel) and so she has crossed the Rainbow Bridge and is now as Charleygirl would say, “resting her eyes”.

She asked me to put this picture up of Hattie who was very beautiful, inside and out. x

Charleygirl5 Fri 26-Mar-21 18:31:54

It is so sad but the correct decision for poor Hattie. She is now at peace, with no pain and resting her eyes permanently.

MawB please take care of yourself- we are all with you in spirit if not in person.

Beechnut Fri 26-Mar-21 18:31:55

I’m just popping into the kitchen to say I’m very sorry to read about Hattie Maw. Take care of yourself the best you can ?

Charleygirl5 Fri 26-Mar-21 18:45:46

It is awful she cannot be close to her own family and disgraceful she cannot have a two-way "conversation" here with us. Her house must be so empty- I am well aware as I am still missing Tara who died 2 months ago.

Grandmabatty Fri 26-Mar-21 18:47:59

I'm very sad to hear that Hattie has been put to sleep. My sympathies to Maw.?

Doodle Fri 26-Mar-21 18:56:41

Oh Maw I am so sorry. You know you made the right decision for Hattie but no doubt it is so painful right now.
I wish you could be here in the kitchen with us but at least know we are thinking of you and sending love and hugs. ?

Grandmafrench Fri 26-Mar-21 19:01:08

Night night and bless you, dearest Hattie. Your kind Mummy has struggled to make the ultimate sacrifice because she loved you so. You'll never be forgotten but for now we'll shed tears for both of you.

Sorry to read of the news about Hattie. For Maw flowers. I do hope you get to join us again soon in the kitchen Maw. I still regard myself as a newcomer but fellow GNers have helped me through my troubled times with Mya, my dog.
soop I hope we get to hear some welcoming news soon from GNHQ.

Jax. I'm hoping the magnolia will be OK in a large pot for another year.

All weathers today. Glorious sun, very cold and the odd hail shower. Finished all the work in the polytunnel. Mya and MrM ran to shelter in it during one hail shower. IT WAS VERY LOUD shock.

annodomini Fri 26-Mar-21 19:11:08

I wish we had her with us now. She needs to be with friends, if only virtual friends. Lockdown is no time for grief.

Jaxjacky Fri 26-Mar-21 19:49:54

I’m disappointed she wasn’t allowed back to the kitchen, even for a short time. Life can be horrible sometimes and it can really help if you have some access to moral support.

Callistemon Fri 26-Mar-21 19:53:43

???

We never forget them, do we. They always hold a special place in our hearts.

Callistemon Fri 26-Mar-21 19:54:58

I just don't understand it, annodomini.

I shall never understand.

dustyangel Fri 26-Mar-21 19:58:31

I’m sorry Maw, especially as not being able to be with her as she slipped away, you wouldn’t have had the chance to see her face relax out of her pain and become the dog she truly was again. flowers

Alygran Fri 26-Mar-21 20:07:20

Maw thinking of you ??

Hellogirl1 Fri 26-Mar-21 20:59:34

Maw, I`m so very sorry to hear about the beautiful Hattie. Wish you could be here with us.

kittylester Fri 26-Mar-21 21:04:17

Someone maybe has to report this thread so gnhq spot it!

Nannytopsy Fri 26-Mar-21 21:51:11

Good point Kitty.

mamaa Fri 26-Mar-21 22:04:50

? so sorry for you and Hattie, thinking of you Maw at this time.

cornergran Fri 26-Mar-21 22:57:04

I’m so sorry maw, a brave and loving decision. Now it’s time to care for yourself, I wish you could be here with us, as it seems it’s not possible don’t forget you’re in our hearts.

Charleygirl5 Fri 26-Mar-21 23:01:00

MawB you are no longer part of the kitchen so the number of virtual friends here can only say how sorry we are. My only hope is you have been able to contact other friends, virtually or by phone. You are going to need a lot of support.

Grandmafrench Fri 26-Mar-21 23:24:01

dusty I almost forgot. Your query in Portuguese? Well, it would seem that it's a medical procedure - "Phaecoemulsification of the lens then (another) intraocular lens" i.e. Cataract surgery. Phaecoemulsification with IOL means replacing the lens in your eye with an Intraocular implant. Hope this is not a great surprise to you and you'll be able to get sensible answers (!!) from an Eye Surgeon who speaks English, rather than listening to an Englishwoman who lives in France, who doesn't speak Portuguese and who is just hoping this translation makes sense to you. Hugs x

I just thought I'd pop into the kitchen to say hello before I start my nanna duty. Ruby is on her way now so I'm sure I'll have a lovely busy afternoon. Hope everyone has a pleasant day and special thoughts to those under the weather in any
