My nephew aged 9 was watching celebrity family fortunes the other day and apparently very disappointed that our family couldn't enter as we have no celebs amongst our number grin
Just wondering if any posters have well known relatives or friends?

The original Milkey Bar kid was my mothers 2nd cousin.
And my brother looks just like him.

@suziewoozie - "shagged" isn't particularly MN language I reckon, we used to play the game Shag,Marry,Avoid back in
the day.
Mind you,I had to google the alternative meaning for pearl necklace this morninggrin
Anyway, not shagged but propositioned....late 60s, Rome was filled with wannabe actors out to make it big in films being made at CineCitta nearby.
So I was sitting with friends at the Cafe de Paris and got propositioned by this American wearing a ginormous cowboy hat... it was Clint Eastwood, he of Rawhide fame? He was living in a pensione and wanted me to go back with him there for a night of passion...
When I refused he said "I'll ask you one more time and that's it! I NEVER ask anyone three times".. Another refusal from me, and then he said the words which I still ponder over in the dark reaches of the night ..
"hmm, you'll NEVER know what you're missing!" gringringrin
Suggestions on a Postcard, please!

I haven`t heard the s word suziewoozie in years.
I`m no prude, not by a long chalk but i think it`s a pretty horrible word.

suziewoozie Sun 28-Mar-21 14:53:09

Actually I’ve just remembered a cousin of DHs but can’t think of a way to keep it not easily guessable. A bother of a member of Cold Play was a guest at our dd’s wedding .

Callistemon Sun 28-Mar-21 14:55:06

Yes

CherryCezzy Sun 28-Mar-21 15:03:52

Would anyone be considered as guilty of one-upmanship if they answer yes here? ?
Not guilty, but my answer is yes. Related to someone who lives in America but is famous around the world.

janeainsworth Sun 28-Mar-21 15:05:33

Timetogo you might like the South Carolina version grin

Should have added that was the national championships of the S Carolina Shag!

I agree that the s word sounds horrible and do not like to hear it being used. Although considering that much of this thread
talks about the likes of pearl necklaces and teabagging then I
suppose the s word also has a place.
I admit I have never heard of pearl necklace or teabagging and
all of it sounds revolting.
As for the term "dogging" I am pretty sure I know what it means although all I do is walk my dogs.
One of my neighbours who is okay and I sometimes speak to made a joke to me about him and his wife coming out for a dog walk with me for a bit of dogging I told them sorry but I am declining your offer.

“hmm, you'll NEVER know what you're missing!". A nasty STD from someone in the habit of picking up women in bars? grin

Bloody hell I have been sitting at this computer to long and have posted on the wrong thread. Sorry.

Nanawind Sun 28-Mar-21 15:17:39

I'm married to a famous ex sports man.

Callistemon Sun 28-Mar-21 15:18:50

Are you Lady Nanawind?

Dwmxwg Sun 28-Mar-21 15:22:10

For the Welsh GNs my paternal grandad’s first cousin was Hedd Wyn.
As a child I sat in the chair he was awarded posthumously which I believe is now in the museum in Trawsfynned

Nanawind

I'm married to a famous ex sports man.

Team sport or individual?

lovebeigecardigans1955 Sun 28-Mar-21 15:25:18

Apparently I am very very distantly related to the actress Helena Bonham Carter.

Anniebach Sun 28-Mar-21 15:32:15

Gosh Dwmxwg I am in awe, I have seen the chair but not sat in it .

Nanawind Sun 28-Mar-21 15:35:44

More famous for individual but did partake in team games.
And no I'm not Lady.

Dwmxwg Sun 28-Mar-21 15:44:41

Anniebach I was about 7 at the time. My grandad moved to England as a young man to find work, so dad “Llewelyn Wyn” was born here. Grandparents returned to North Wales in their retirement, hence my chance to sit in Hedd Wyn’s chair and visit the family home. There is still something that draws me back to Wales. Whenever we visit I feel I have “come home”

Anniebach Sun 28-Mar-21 17:02:20

Dwmxwg that’s Heirith ?

When I saw the chair I cried, so sad, he didn’t live to receive it,
he had died 6 weeks earlier and he only enlisted to save his younger brother , you have sat in a bardic chair ?, better than sitting on a throne.

grandmajet Sun 28-Mar-21 17:38:06

Alishka, I had such a crush on him in the fifties, when he was Rowdy Yates in Rawhide. They changed the night it was broadcast, and I didn’t want to go to Brownies any more as I’d miss it! ?
I wonder what you missed! ?

I've got a postcard somewhere written by one of the Bonham Carters in the 1930s to my FIL saying thank you for retrieving his mac and he would pick it up some time.
Very intriguing!

Callistemon Sun 28-Mar-21 17:48:28

I had not heard of him (not being brought up in Wales) but I was very moved by his story and readings at St David's Hall a few years ago.

Grannynannywanny Sun 28-Mar-21 17:49:59
