What a beautiful person and a wonderful actress
Her poor husband and two children
Fly high Helen ❤️

She’s been in many things on TV and films - I loved her voice in particular which always sounded rather mischievous . They both did a lot of work last year with a charity providing meals for NHS staff and raised a great deal of money. Her poor children and husband

Very sad. Brought tears to my eyes when I read Damian Lewis’s announcement. Beautifully written.

Very sad news. She chose to keep her illness private. Both Helen and her husband Damien are ambassadors for the Princes Trust charity.

They appeared by video link on Good Morning Britain about 5 weeks ago to promote the charity. Kate Garraway asked her if she was ok and enquired if she had a sore throat. Helen quipped “No, I have children, no make up artist and no hairdresser!

She was lovely, how sad. Far too young to go, it must have been a very aggressive cancer.

I was surprised at how upset I was when I heard she had died. I did see her on stage. They seemed to be very happily married, which is unusual in their profession. I remember her on Desert Island Discs saying that her husband liked her to wear dresses that were a bit too tight! The obituary in my paper didn’t mention the charity they set up which raised money to deliver millions of meals to NHS hospitals for staff during lockdown which is a pity.

Was the first thing I thought of when I woke up this morning and thought of it throughout the night when I woke up. Strange how the death of someone you don’t know can affect you so much. Combination of loving her character in Peaky Blinders, being touched by her husbands words, realising one of her sons is the same age as my grandson etc.

I seldom notice actors' names but Helen McCrory's face was so characterful she stood out among the others. What a loss !

dragonfly46 Sat 17-Apr-21 09:58:32

So so sad!

timetogo2016 Sat 17-Apr-21 10:19:24

I saw her in P/Blinders but didn`t know her name,so sad all the same.
RIP Helen.
And sending condolences to her family and friends.

So sad and such a talented actress - I realised this morning how many things she's been in that we've watched over the years. I too saw the interview they did a few weeks ago on GMB - no sign or mention of her illness. Her family will be devastated sad

HiPpyChick57 Sat 17-Apr-21 10:48:53

Really sad news. Peaky Blinders won’t ever be the same without “Aunt Polly”
She was fab in Harry Potter also.
RIP Helen McCrory you will be missed!

So sad to hear that yesterday and only 52. Her poor family, they will miss her terribly. They said she was so courageous til the end, my heart goes out to them.

Peff68 Sat 17-Apr-21 11:11:20

I’d forgotten she was Cherrie Blair, brilliant exactly as I’d imagine she would be and loved her as the aunt in peaky RIP

Shinamae Sat 17-Apr-21 11:15:33

Very sad....? ????

ayokunmi1 Sat 17-Apr-21 11:24:29

@Grannynannywanny

Very dignified you would never have guessed.
I saw the clip as well.
May she RIP

Albangirl14 Sat 17-Apr-21 11:28:06

She went to Queenswood School and has been very generous towards the school.

Charleygirl5 Sat 17-Apr-21 11:35:00

Like BlueBelle I also have never heard of her or her husband but 52 is no age at which to die.

Dylant1234 Sat 17-Apr-21 11:44:36

If I saw that she was in a film or TV programme I’d watch it as I knew it’d be good and worth watching. She just got better and better through her career, very sad, especially for her teenage children.

Aepgirl Sat 17-Apr-21 11:47:11

I don’t recognise her as an actress, but death at such a young age is tragic.

Buffy Sat 17-Apr-21 11:58:27

MayBee70 I feel the same as you. Lovely couple, so happy as a mother and a great actress. Tragic.

Buffy Sat 17-Apr-21 12:00:38

Lovely tributes from her husband and many others. Life is so unfair.

Thirdinline Sat 17-Apr-21 16:38:19

@HipPyChick57 that’s what I thought, Draco Malfoy’s mother, wasn’t she? I believe she liked acting roles where there was a dark side to the character. She will be much missed, a great actress.

AGAA4 Sat 17-Apr-21 16:43:36

She was a very good actress. Shocked when I heard she had died. She had kept her illness quiet.
