Carpet washers

Apologies to you ladies if you have discussed this before I found this site.
Just wondering if anyone else has had the same experience, and not sure if I should mention brands.
I recently bought a well-reviewed carpet washer to replace an ancient Vax upright which worked fine till bits started breaking off it but was a bit heavy. This machine was lighter and easier to use, and cleaned the carpet very well, BUT leaked water in a brisk drip from the clean tank all over the motor and electrics at the back. We sent it back to the major online retailer, who, fair play, replaced it by return without a quibble. The same thing happened with the replacement. We thought, either a faulty batch or a major design fault. Have now returned the second one and requested a refund, again without a quibble. We followed the instructions to the letter. The manufacturer didn’t want to know, despite a 6 year warranty (they would have repaired but not replaced it-a brand new machine-and directed us back to the retailer)
Now wondering whether to look for the same model from another supplier as this issue hasn’t been widely commented on in reviews (which I suppose might have been edited) except for 1 reviewer on the same site I bought it from who had the identical problem, or go back to the type of machine we had before. I’d welcome your views

I think I’d buy a different model if I’d had 2 faulty ones!

That is a shame if you like that model. Quite possibly a faulty batch so if you really want it then maybe try another retailer, where no-one has mentioned that problem. It really depends on how much you like that model.

Have had our Vax for seven plus years, never had a problem and it is borrowed by AC frequently.
