Good Morning Everyone,
At the moment its dry here in Brackley , as its May Day , usually we have Morris men performing from first light outside the Town hall, also a pub opens close by and in the past has served a champagne breakfast .
Today, my bus trip will be via buckingham to Bicester , before I return there hoping the flea market is on before returning home to watch cycling on TV .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, Mick! That sounds like a distress call (May Day) but I hope your ship will stay afloat for a good few years to come!

A bright start here in Torbay so I hope it remains so for holidaymakers and for me to pack the car for a few nights at my holiday home, about 40 miles away near Okehampton. The WiFi is intermittent there so I may miss posting for a few days.

I hope you all behave yourselves but enjoy the long weekend - is that possible?! And kind thoughts are with those with worries of any kind. ?

Gagagran Sat 01-May-21 06:20:20

Morning Mick and all who follow from a frosty south coast. -0.1c and the cars seem to be iced up again. It's clear and dry and bright though so should soon warm up.

Off to Tesco for the click and collect at 8am if we can open the kitchen door - the key won't move in the lock so far! Then I couldn't get going on my desktop as Microsoft wanted me to reset everything including a password I had forgotten. Not the best start to the day! It can only get better.

Hope the day is a good one for everyone. sunshine

Gagagran Sat 01-May-21 06:21:43

Enjoy your mini-holiday Ashcombe! Just a pity your DH can't join you.

Greyduster Sat 01-May-21 06:33:38

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. We had a frost last night, but all our fledgling plants were indoors, thank goodness. At the moment we have high cloud and some blue sky in South Yorkshire. I have been awake since half past four, worrying about something I hope I have blown up out of all proportion, like one does! We went out walking in the Peak District yesterday and what was supposed to be a shortish walk turned into a bit of a slog, but we heard a cuckoo, so that was a bit special!
Nothing much planned for today except giving the car a good clean. Have a happy May Day, folks.

grandMattie Sat 01-May-21 06:47:19

Good morning from a bright E Kent. There is high cloud ⛅️ and there has been a frost, but I hope nothing has been damaged. May Day indeed - yet to see May blossom. Ne’er cast a clout... and all that. I wonder if the choristers of Christchurch were allowed into the tower to sing in the month of May.
The wind was/is still vicious and makes being outside a bit unpleasant but I managed to get some more plants from a Ramsgate garden centre. Everyone and their dog had been/was there so the stock was very low. When I asked for a honeysuckle, I was told that stock was coming in all the time and to “pop in”regularly. I smiled sweetly and forbore to say that with a 40 minute drive each way, it was unlikely.
Heard fromDD saying that Iris was healing well and may be allowed hydrotherapy next week. Things are looking up.
May everyone have a lovely, happy Bank holiday weekend; trust that the weather is kind for all the meetings-up. ☀️?❤️

Good morning from a bright and frosty Severnside. Pinch punch for May Day.

I was very cold last night so I poked a button to put the heating on only to find a bit later the radiator still cold. Daft me had forgotten that during the warmer weather I had turned the heating to off. Soon sorted and toasty.

I may we’ll potter in the garden and greenhouse today. A little more work wants doing in the greenhouse before I add any plants.

Well all, enjoy your away time, days out with families and friends and seeing the new babies ?

Dwmxwg Sat 01-May-21 07:07:15

Good morning from a bright north Surrey.
Lovely day yesterday. The bluebell woods at Hatchlands Park were magical and the woodland walk we took was full of spring wild flowers, primroses and wood anemone and we think lesser stitchwort.
News from my niece to say she had passed her finals and is now a doctor. So proud of her, we are a family of nurses and she is the first one to train as a doctor.
Nothing planned for today, probably spend time at the allotment and in the garden.
Enjoy our weekend away Ashcombe, harrigran hope you had a better nights sleep and today is a better day for you and DH. Auntyflo hope your pain has eased ? for all those with worries

Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s a bright sunny start to the day, yesterday was the same but with a cold wind.
A big congratulations to your niece dwm a fantastic achievement!
I hope whatever was worrying you isn’t too bad greydyster and you’re not too tired today
I really enjoyed my wander around the centre of Cambridge yesterday, it wasn’t anywhere near as busy as usual but still lots of people about. The indoor cafes weren’t open so I bought a takeaway lunch and enjoyed it on the grass in front of Kings college. Then a walk by the river, the punts were out with a few takers and the blossom on the trees looked lovely.
I’m spending today with DD1 and family, not sure what we’re doing yet but I’m sure it’ll be fun
Enjoy your time away Ash have a good time!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, even just something small and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Morning Mick and All.

A sunny cool day in South Bucks.

Splendid news about your Iris grandMattie and your niece dwm

Well we have entered the month of release, phew what a relief.

Will get DH to join me at my favourite cafe today. Earlier in the week they put an extra table out for me as all the others were taken. ?

cornergran Sat 01-May-21 07:22:59

Morning Mick, morning All. Our corner of Somerset has a light cloud covering this morning, rain is forecast from lunch time. .

Off for yet another test drive today, this ones a distance away as the local garage doesn’t have the model we want to check out. The bonus is we may get to see some family.

Beautiful bluebells dwm, the shrubs outside our front door have the Spanish bluebells massed underneath them, not the same at all although colourful. Safe trip ashcombe, enjoy your break. As you say the day can only get better gagagran.

Take care everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all. .

Gingster Sat 01-May-21 07:34:32

Good morning all from another sunny, frosty morning here in Essex. It did rain last evening. I couldn’t quite believe I could hear it. So long since we had any! ???

Ash - have a lovely few days away.

Dwm congrats to your niece . We need more like her ! ?‍⚕️

Greyduster I hope your worries ease. Horrid when your mind won’t switch off in the night. ?

I will make a chocolate fudge cake today and a lemon cheese cake for our lovely son and family‘S visit tomorrow. It’s their favourite request.

Strange noises during the night from the railway not far from us. There has been works going on there intermittently for a few weeks now. Quite eerie in the dead of night!

What a shame the last episode of Viewpoint wasn’t aired last evening. I’d stuck with it although I didn’t think it was great , but would like to know how it ended. Very understandable why they chose to withdraw it though!

I hope you all enjoy your day, whatever you choose to do.

Good morning!
Thank you for all the congratulations yesterday. Charlie is , of course gorgeous.
Not sure when he will be home but can’t wait to see him in real life.
Today , big brother Thomas is coming over with his auntie and we are off for a picnic at the park. He can’t go to the hospital to see his Mummy or brother so we will keep him busy. Hope the weather is kind.
Glad to hear that Iris is progressing again.
Hope Olive will be home today.
Also hope Maw is enjoying her new companion.
Thoughts with all who are troubled in any way, may you all find a ?today.

Beauregard Sat 01-May-21 07:35:45

Good morning from Derbyshire where it's cloudy and dry. We had a good rain shower yesterday evening, just after DH had watered the veg garden! It'll help for now until the proper rain arrives on Monday which will hopefully kick start the grass growing again.

I'm pleased that, after a slow start, my seeds are germinating well now. Only the dahlias seem to be struggling to come through. This morning I'll collect some spare tomato plants from my brother who lives nearby (saved me sowing them and made space for other things).

Yesterday our neighbours told us they are moving house in a few weeks. They're a young family and are lovely. We'll be sad to see them go and hope the new neighbours will be as nice.

Lovely news ginny on the birth of your grandson Charlie. Congratulations to you and yours. Great that baby Olive is now home B9exchange and that you can see her today. Well done to Dwmxwg's niece on becoming a doctor.

Hope today is good for all.

Good morning from Shropshire where it’s a dull start.

I will take DGD home this morning as she has a party at 12 then I haven’t a clue what is going on.After the party DD,DGD and I were meant to be visiting mum and having a meal delivered from a local restaurant.Due to mix ups with SIL’s day off, mum booking my brother in for today as well arrangements will change so we could be going today, tomorrow or next saturday?‍♀️presume someone will let me know at some point?‍♀️

Have a lovely time at your holiday home Ash.

Good news about Iris??

Thoughts with harrigran and her DH?

Have hopefully posted a picture of DGD a few years ago in the bluebell wood at Chirk Castle.

Have a good day and hoping Mary,Cherry and Auntieflo have had restful nights.??

Urmstongran Sat 01-May-21 07:39:06

Good morning everyone from south Manchester where I’m glad to say it’s dry as the boy wonder is in his football team’s semi final for a Cup this morning. I’m minding little miss so that mummy can join the boys. Himself is off for his second vaxx this morning so it’s busy, busy all round. The surgery contacted me and I’m having my second one next Saturday morning.

Hope everyone has a good Saturday. Keep safe. x

Good morning from brightish Leicestershire.

Not much planned today except dog walking.
DiL just sent a video of two fox Cubs which have got themselves trapped in their garden. She is going to put some steps out so they can climb back over their wall to mum.

Holiday time must make you miss DH all the more. Let’s hope you can meet up again soon.
Hope your worries disappear Greyduster and good news about Iris.

Sar53 Sat 01-May-21 07:45:40

Good morning from a bright and sunny Essex by the sea. When the weather is like this we get a lot of visitors to our local beaches, let's hope they behave and take their rubbish home with them.
Lovely to hear of new babies, Olive and Charlie and also of Maws new companion.
I think a walk is on the cards later this morning and no doubt DH will be watching the snooker later.
Enjoy May Day and find that ? xx

Marydoll Sat 01-May-21 07:46:51

Good morning all from a chilly and cloudy Glasgow.

Nothing to report today. Yesterday proved to be an inactive day, dozing on the sofa, as I was feeling a bit ropey.
The highlight of the day was DD and SIL arriving at 8am with baker's morning rolls and bacon to make me breakfast. DD saw how unwell I was after my first vaccine dose and couldn't settle until she had checked up on me, since DH was golfing.
I could get to enjoy being looked after like this! ?

A gentle day in store. DD and my future DIL have birthdays over the next few days, so I will need to find the gifts, which are stashed all over the house. Remembering what exactly I have purchased for them and where they are hidden from DD is indeed a major problem!?

Enjoy your day, whatever your plans are.
Wishing you all, as painless and worry free a day as possible, for all the mountaineers on here, for whom life is a daily uphill struggle. ?

Stilllearning Sat 01-May-21 07:48:46

Good morning from S Lanarkshire, not clear blue sky at the moment but bright and hopeful.
Caught up last evening and saw your lovely news ginny, congratulations on the safe arrival of Charlie Joseph.

An early start for me today, I’m just getting ready to head off for a garden visit to my newly six year old grandson and family. We’ll have a breakfast celebration before they leave to go camping for the weekend. I am so looking forward to seeing them.

When I come home I’ll get on with clearing moss and weeds from my driveway, I’m pleased with what I achieved yesterday, I’m not a gardener, but it does look look better.

Wishing everyone a pleasant day.?

grandmajet Sat 01-May-21 07:49:30

It’s a bit cloudy in Nottinghamshire today.
Lovely bluebell woods again, dwm.
Gingster, the last episode of Viewpoint is available on itv hub over the weekend. It is worth watching. It seems odd to take it off real-time tv but put it on the hub.
It’s lovely to hear of families getting together, new babies, holidays etc. Life is opening up again, let’s hope it can stay that way.
My son and his wife are coming for lunch in the garden. Rugs may be needed. My two local daughters may pop in too, but not their families - rule of six! I must get up soon and start chopping veg for spicy roasted veg couscous. DH is making salads and roasted new potatoes, and fresh fruit salad. I’ve made a fruit cake but it’s not vegan - they are not strict.
Have a lovely Saturday, everyone.

Grandmabatty Sat 01-May-21 07:51:13

Good morning all. 2° and cloudy in Polmont. Enjoy your trip Mick. Dwym congratulations to your clever niece! Ashcombe have a lovely time in your holiday home. Beauregard my lovely neighbour won't be coming home as he requires too much care to live unaided. That means new neighbours for me at some point. Greyduster I hope the worries aren't too much. They seem worse in the middle of the night, don't they?
I have no idea why I'm up so early as I have nothing pressing. I shall go out to buy a couple of birthday gifts and deliver them but that's as exciting as it gets. I don't enjoy being in shops at all just now as they are too busy. Today will be a pottering one I think. Whatever you are up to, I hope you have a good day.

baubles Sat 01-May-21 07:58:43

Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where it’s cloudy and apparently going to be showery.

Love all the photos of the bluebell woods, they’re beginning to appear locally.

Congratulations to your niece dwm
Enjoy your weekend away Ashcombe and it’s good to hear that Iris is doing well gM.

My uncle’s online funeral today, they can only have 25 in the church making a sad time even more difficult as it has been for so many families.

DGD’s 4th birthday today so I’m doing a bit of baking for tomorrow’s picnic in the park. Her Mum has requested Fifteens for the Traybake along with some cupcakes so nothing taxing.

Wishing everyone a peaceful Mayday.

Nannytopsy Sat 01-May-21 08:11:51

Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Bright here but rain is coming before too long ... A few days to plant seeds then hopefully everything will be watered for me!
Congratulations on the cuckoo Grey. I thought there was one about yesterday but it was a distant wood pigeon!
Our rugby team won last night and are off to Twickenham. ?
Time to make a start - I hope the day is kind to everyone.
