I think we have been getting a mix of March winds and April showers just recently .

Mick

Susan I feel your pain!

Pittcity Tue 11-May-21 08:04:27

Good morning from Colchester where the sun is peeping out from behind a rain cloud. Warm here. I have just bought a new lightweight raincoat and I had to carry it while out yesterday. I have also managed to turn the heating off. Always something to work out in a new house.
The carpenter should be here any minute to build new wardrobes, so my day will be spent keeping out of his way and making tea. DH is going fishing, he gets antsy with strangers in the house.

I get a lot done when I'm worked up Grandmattie , you should see me angrily attack the ironing!!

Forgot to send love to all x

Grandmajean Tue 11-May-21 08:12:14

Good mornimg all from sunny Cheshire. Haven't read posts properly yet but noticed GrandMattie's "complaint" about venetian blinds ! I hate the job too and swore I'd never have another even though I love the look of them. Well, I didn't keep my promise and have five ! They are a complete pain to clean so I try to pass the job on to OH. It rarely works.
I will read and enjoy all your posts later. Have a day, everyone - a good one if possible . Thinking of all with worries and health issues.

Morning Mick, morning All. Quite bright in our corner of Somerset after overnight rain. More rain due later. I’d willingly swap some of it for your dry days grandMattie.

Little sleep, it must have been the excitement of a consultant appointment this afternoon hmm. Finally managed to do some clothes sorting yesterday, two bags ready for the charity shop. Mr C is in shock as I’m also parting with hardly worn shoes. Reality time about heels.

Quiet morning ahead here. Mr C has volunteered to do the ironing. I feel a kitchen cupboard tidy coming on.

Hope Tuesday is kind to us all, especially those with worries of any kind.

Good morning all. Not too chilly but overcast here in N. Bucks.
I have a zoom meeting this morning .
A man is coming to put new tyres on the caravan around lunch time. It can then go back to where it is stored. I hate it being on the drive.
Maybe a walk later and bits and bobs to do..
Lovely to hear some of you have had enjoyable outings.
Hope you can all find a ? today.

Good morning all, from a cloudy Glasgow, where its 8°C.

I'm off, at last, to the seaside! Our day out has been postponed so often that I had given up hope! Nothing arduous, a leisurely stroll, with frequent stops, along the seafront, a wee look in my favourite boutique, a pic nic (in the car, too chilly outside and vicious seagulls abound) and will probably conk out when I get home! grin. We used to walk all day in Rome, without resting, sadly for me, those days of unlimited stamina are more. Carpe diem has become my mantra.

Yesterday, I (successfully) collected my prescriptions and decided (for me) to be brave and take a detour via Asda, as it was early and they have introduced self scanning, which I have been advised to do, as it means I don't have to queue and there is less contact with people, thus lessening the risks for me.
There were two reasons for this Asda visit: firstly to improve my driving skills by taking a circuitous route in heavy traffic and secondly, to build up my confidence being out on my own. What a pleasant surprise. I hadn't been in the store for about fifteen months and it had been refurbished. I was like a child in a sweetie shop! Changed days and simple pleasures. wink
I didn't spend much time there, but to my delight picked up a very healthy red gooseberry plant for £3 and a couple of bargains! Now I have to work on MrMD to organise a proper trip! Who would have thought a prospective supermarket visit would be so exciting!!!

I thought I had gotten away with it, as I was back before DH. However, DH had spotted me leaving from the golf course ?️‍♂️ and even the postman and the Ebay queen had noticed I was missing! How on earth am I going to have a secret life (or an affair ?) if I'm under constant surveillance? ?

The surveyor did arrive as promised, but of course not surprisingly, the patio doors are larger than usual, not a standard size and adaptations are required to the conservatory! To add to that, we will need new blinds. Ouch, ouch, ouch!. MrMD's face was a sight to behold!
Years ago, we (especially DH) would have deliberated long and hard about this, but knowing that life healthwise has changed so dramatically for me, has altered our mindset. Life is too short.

harri, a slightly more positive day yesterday for you and your husband.
amselerin, a very stressful time for you, but worth it all to be closer to your family.
For all you party animals, who are out socialising, enjoy! ( Urms, best behaviour ?) I have become a bit of a recluse in the past year and am not quite ready for meet ups yet.

Well, I'm off to agonise over what to wear (so shallow and vain!) I'm pulling out all the stops, make up and jewellery are involved! wink
Have the best of days possible, everyone.

I think I’ve lost the plot!! I have just been in the shower TWICE! Got out first time and covered myself in what I thought was body lotion. Strange it seemed a bit thick and turned white. Not to be deterred I slapped plenty of it on from head to toe and waited for it to sink in. I looked up and realised I’d covered myself in bath body wash. Shower number 2!

Cherry ? and best wishes for a successful appointment today, corner.

Greyduster Tue 11-May-21 08:32:16

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Grey, but thankfully dry, in South Yorkshire at the moment. We had managed to do some shopping in the morning, but had rain of biblical proportions yesterday afternoon, and thunder. Today the window cleaner is coming so now that most of the plants I have been growing have gone from the conservatory windowsills, I will clean the inside windows. There are a lot and I hate it, but if nothing else, it’s exercise?!
Have a good day folks, and a hug for those that need it.

When I woke, ages ago it seems, the sky was blue, but it’s greying over now. Hmph.
Yesterday I had a call from the hospital telling me my operation is scheduled for Thursday 20th. So the pre-op assessment which was moved from last week to next week now has to be moved back to tomorrow! Confused? Anyway I just hope it will happen now, and they manage to yank out as much nasty stuff as possible. I can imagine my kidneys afterwards, having a chat ‘it’s a bit spooky in here, isn’t it? Where is everybody?’ Of course it might be a case of the surgeons having a look and saying, can’t do anything here, and stitching me up again. Yikes!
cornergran, I’m with you on the heels - I was always a bit precarious on them anyway.
I envy your seaside trip marydoll, but don’t overdo it.
Good luck to those with grandchildren to entertain!
Have a pleasant day, all.

Good morning Mick and all from the Welsh coast. It is dry and feels milder, showers forecast though. A Sainsbury's delivery and the fish man this morning, oh the excitement. I am trying to get a GP appointment, no luck so far. I'm really fed up with our surgery.
Hope all with meet ups and appointments have a good day. Your new kitchen will be worth the upheaval and look amazing Cherry, have a good day too.
Stay safe everyone.

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

I’ve surprised myself by being exhausted this morning after our action packed weekend. My step count soared though which is good. Grammaretto, the Segway is still going strong, we passed a family who were struggling a little to stay upright. My GC could hardly believe that DH and I had had a session on them a few years ago at another location. I did enjoy it once I got the hang of it but I have to say going downhill was pretty scary.

You are in a state of flux at the moment amserlin, how very unsettling. This too shall pass and you will have the comfort of being close to your family.

A quiet day of laundry and dog walking ahead.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day especially those troubled by pain, illness, or worries.

Good morning from an increasinly cloudy Black Country. It was bright with blue skies an hour ago.

My 2nd jab was duly completed yesterday, and apart from a slight sore arm this morning, I feel fine.

Spent the day dodging the showers, as we went onto Solihull to look at sofa's. We have at least narrowed it down to 3 colours!

No real plans today, possible ironing and housework.

Wishing you all a good day

Good morning Mick and all his followers. Glad you are back into your routine. You will be back inside the cafes of Bicester and Buckingham next week Mick
Sunshine and clouds here in Suffolk. I want to get the weeding and some planting done today. We have our first visitor next week and I want the garden looking good! At least it’s warm enough to start hardening things off.
Enjoy your day out Marydoll and I hope the weather smiles on you.
Wishing everyone a good day.

Mapleleaf Tue 11-May-21 09:12:25

Good morning,

Well, it’s a brightest start to the day, but the clouds are gathering and we are forecast heavy, thundery showers this afternoon. I hope I can get my washing dry before it all comes. We had quite a storm yesterday afternoon, too. Short, but sharp, with hailstones and gusty wind. Sounds as if we are in for similar this afternoon.

Nothing exciting on the agenda today, it’s a wait and see day, I think.

Take care all. ?

Good morning from north Surrey where we have a combination of sun and showers.
I did start reading the thread but time is running away with me so will need to catch up later.
Already been to the gym and walked the dog and had a good bacon and egg breakfast to keep me going for a few hours. Freddie has his check up today and hopefully we can get back to some off lead walks. Glad to hear Dexter is doing well.
I must get in the shower as I have dentist appointment and then straight off to work for a late shift.
Tulips from the our garden
Wishing all a good day

Agree with you Cornergran about the heels I have 3 pairs waiting to take to charity shop. But it's a good excuse to replace with new flats bought a new pair last week ?

annsixty Tue 11-May-21 09:21:49

Grandmajet flowers a very scary thought.
I pray all will be well.
Faith and trust is the positive way to go.

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, but showers are forecast. I hope they hold off early afternoon as I am venturing on my first health walk. A bit nervous as a friend is picking me up, so I shall wear a mask in her car, but we have both had our second vaccines. It will be good to see familiar faces again.

An hour spent walking yesterday to and from the dentist, but the heavens opened on the way there; luckily I had my umbrella. Only in the surgery five minutes for a check up, and all was fine. A very dishy young dentist, new to the practice. My previous lovely dentist had moved on to pastures new, but this one seems just as nice. Thank goodness the days of the butchers in the 50s are over; I had some dreadful experiences. Another appointment made for 6 months.

Will get the bedding changed today, but not sure whether to get them washed today or leave until tomorrow, depending on the weather.

Home-made pork ragu from the freezer for dinner tonight, must get it out to thaw.

Hoping that today sees a flamingo for us all!

QuaintIrene Tue 11-May-21 09:29:39

Good morning Mick and everyone else.
A lovely sunny morning in West Yorkshire, which cheers me up. Online shopping today for the heavy stuff and then a trip to the supermarket for some bits.
My friend has phoned to arrange a meal out for my birthday next month. It will be so nice to get out again. I must go to the hairdressers beforehand, it’s been a year since my last visit. Hacking away at my fringe has not always been ideal.
I am having a day off worrying about the ceiling.
Snowy cat is dozing on the rug in a patch of sunshine.
Best wishes to all, especially those who are ill or troubled flowers
