Good morning all from a temperate,cloudy S Hants. I’ve been out to let the man into the allotment site, he’ll finish the heavy digging this morning. This afternoon my first book for the club I’ve joined is being delivered, I’ll need to finish my current book first. I haven’t read all of your posts, just skimmed, more out and about adventures, so different from a couple of months ago.

I know that train in Spain (it rhymes) Urms. We caught it from Malaga to Cordoba a few years ago. Very exciting.

Yoga today and a streamed funeral later. A lovely friend who has died too young and leaves a family in mourning.

I have lots of memories of going through Irlam and Urmston on that train to Manchester Urmston. My daughter lives in Padgate.

I fear more troubled times are ahead for me. My attempt to get MrM to talk about the house build was unsuccessful. I try not to get annoyed with him when he doesn't answer my questions. The silence is excruciating. I end up feeling like the big baddy.

Top of the Morning to everyone! Here in the South of France, a glorious day but a bit unsettled. We had a storm which involved me racing about rescuing and moving plants the night before last and yesterday. In the darkness I decided that in another life I could possibly have got myself a nice little boating job - maybe as the Keeper of the Eddystone Light? It was almost a joke, surely someone up there was actually throwing buckets of water down into our garden and onto me? With the force of the gales, it was astonishing that any of the water managed to hit the ground at all!

Maybe a punishment because I'd been to market and bought some wonderful plants. The one which truly caught an obviously greedy and rather daft Grandmafrench's eye was the showy Madam above......I was determined to find some Hibiscus for the garden. Nothing strange about that but I was blissfully unaware that there are two kinds? So it seems was the jolly market trader. I was pleased as punch with my purchase until I looked it up to find I had bought a Tropical one. Fine for pretty much most of the year here and endless sun, but any temperatures lower than 15degrees and there will clearly be tantrums and a lot of sulking. Madam also requires watering with warm water and no draughts please. "She" has had to spend the last 24 hours under cover and still looks magnificent. Me, less so. I have clearly taken on yet another incumbrance and responsibility and will have to have her 2' size indoors and crowding my space through the winter. Oh well, maybe read before buying?

You must be truly squeaky clean this morning, Gelisa. Wonderful that you can find the humour despite obvious anxiety, Grandmajet. Well done and lots of love and hope for you! Enjoy your day out, Mary, and rattle plenty of bling as you wave regally at your subjects on your promenade drive past. ?

Great to hear happy news of the new duo, Maw&Rosie. I bet she is just loving living with you, Maw. What fun for her and how lovely that you have the patter of paws (everywhere) again. In order to avoid any confusion though, shouldn't you be placing your slippers carefully in a corner of the bedroom and allowing your new housemate to rest inside your bed ? (Rosie messaged me with a request to explain that to you! ?)

Everyone seems to be finding some fun and you must all be very excited at the thought of the Covid struggles fading through the summer months. We're supposed to have some restaurants opening - outside - next week. Yaaay!

Not much planned for today, hoping DH will take the livingvroom curtains down so that I can wash them. I can't peer upwards at an angle or it brings back my BPPV, so dependent on him, and he seems to have other priorities!

Found two lovely little John Lewis pink smocked dresses for Olive on eBay. I know they are dreadfully old fashioned, but they are so pretty, I couldn't resist them. I think DS will at least use them when we come to visit! ?

Happy Tuesday everyone. Think it's going to stay dry in this part of the Scottish Borders. Have put on a couple of washes and thinking of making dough for a pizza for tea. Almost completed my minutes. Couple of checks to be done. Lasted without Scandi noir til early evening then settled down to an episode. Radio 4 on. I love hearing about everyone else's plans for the day. I am so glad I found you. Stay safe.

Brief torrential showers followed by sunshine followed by another shower - rather like yesterday and not conducive to getting anything done outside.

Wonderful cleaner working her magic this morning and a man coming to talk about a new loose cover for our sofa, being shown up by the reupholstered chairs. The room looks a bit bland so am hoping for a pop of colour and/or pattern to give it a lift. Amazing what passes for excitement these days! DH wants to watch the State Opening of Parliament despite the lack of pageantry so may join him now and then.

A sunny start, but for how long I don't know. I've had to shift myself as having washed yesterday, then knew I'd be in and out with it I've put it out again while the going's good.
Will now hurtle around to the corner shop to replenish the cat food stock and get a fresh loaf, don't need much else as dinner is sorted today.

That's it, been to the shop so I can concentrate inside as well as keeping my eye on the weather and the washing being out.
I'll do an online Asda shop to fill up the freezer then that's me done for the rest of the week.

I used to go to the Sefton Coast a lot when I was a child----Crosby Beach with bucket and spade.Amselerin I'm sure you'll enjoy the area. Quite a nature reserve too. Then we'd visit relatives in Blundellsands. I haven't been for years but no doubt it won't be as I remember it now as places change.
Formby just along the coast is beautiful too.

Speaking of places Urmston reminded me of of the train leaving Liverpool to Manchester which brings back memories of being exited when the Trafford Centre opened and my first trip there in 1999----a big shopping trip before going off to Oz. I was still working and it was my last year before retirement. Haven't been for a few years since new additions/ extensions were added to the place, 2008/9 I think.

Oh to be that energetic again, whizzing here and there. I used to love the big stores but I'd be so wary of crowds now. This Covid has been a pest and hasn't done anything for the confidence. Ah well never mind I'm not the only one.

Sounds as though everyone's getting on with things and going hither and thither. What a change to hear that things are gradually getting back to " near " normal, though won't be the same before the pandemic struck.
However, stay well and safe everyone with thoughts to those unwell and/or not present.xx

Good morning Mick and all from a mixed up weather wise northwest Lancashire coast.
Tidying up today, I make a mess wherever I go, but as a fellow widow says ‘At least it’s my own mess”
Going into the city and having a meal meant making more effort, so the bedroom looks like a teenagers, a floordrobe on the floor etc. Nice meal, first one outside and not cold, keeping coat on and sun coming and going. Street entertainment provided by frightening orange haired woman who had not been given the seat she wanted, glared at everyone, then burst into fighting mode, turning the air blue, we tried not to catch her eye. Strangely, on the train home, a young woman sat next to me shouting on her phone, also effing and blinding. I ostentatiously rose to go to another seat. How can people be so unaware of others?

Good Moaning from a damp France. It's only light rain, but enough to cancel any aspiration to tidy the garden.

And that's a pity, 'cos I bought a new mower yesterday! A bit of a distress purchase, having beggared its predecessor which isn't old, but needs must. And purchasing it was distressing, too! Think B&Q, although not called that and a display of mowers, all priced. Behind it in the next aisle are lots of mowers in boxes - but none of them seem to be the same as the ones on display. Sigh. So I plumped for the one in the box I could lift! Very pleased, anyway, after a brief trial yesterday - and it was a cheaper one, too!

News yesterday of a court case involving a policeman on duty and a lady to whom he had given a lift. She was very drunk, and had been ejected from a nightclub. It appears that full sex took place in the police-car, which is a bit naughty, but he alleges she climbed on top of him - in the driving seat? What about the wheel? - and told him to "man up", which he seems to have managed. No suggestion that he initiated it nor any claim of rape. And what is he called? Sergeant Cocking! You couldn't make it up, as they say!

I have to visit the pharmacy for my routine meds this afternoon.

Good morning all from cloudy Lancashire. We woke up to birdsong, blue skies and sunshine, but the forecast is not so good for later. We got a wiggle on, Mr. B went and did the supermarket shop while I sorted laundry. One wash done and hung out, second wash in progress. Shopping put away, went to the local bakery for fresh bread. Will catch up on everyone’s news now. Happy Tuesday ?

Oh , lovely, Marydoll - spent many childhood days there . Have a great one !

I have booked my first ever cleaner and she is coming next Wednesday. She charges £15 per hour. Is this average? I have had a couple of falls recently and have lost my confidence in my ability to do anything. I am 80 and my son made me get a personal alarm so that if I break a leg and can't get up I c an summon help. It makes me feel so old.

Annaram1, personal alarms are such a good thing, and will give your son peace of mind. Do always wear it.

I guess the rate for a cleaner might depend on where you live, Annaram1 and if it includes products to be used. Here in Torbay, I pay £12.50 per hour and she uses all her own materials and vacuum cleaner.

You deserve some help and it doesn’t mean you’re old. If it did, I was old at 30 when I first employed a cleaner! You’ll love the release from the responsibility of housework. Good luck!

Good afternoon everyone from a lovely NE, hope it stays that way, went out yesterday and got soaking wet on the way home!! Annaram1 and Ashcome I pay £10 an hour for my cleaner, best thing I ever did getting him, he was also a godsend when we moved recently. The cleaner was a necessity as I was working full time and caring for my husband full time as well. I don't think I could manage without him now. Marydoll I also have fond memories of Prestwick, although I can't remember actually holidaying there, just day visits with my Aunt and Uncle. We used to holiday to BurtIsland, Helensbrough, Arbroath and Girvan. Those are the ones I can remember, but I am sure there were more. sending best wishes to all who are unwell, or are struggling.
