Can’t believe I’ve done this already (C-word related, sorry!)

Bought two C-word presents!

I was idly browsing the National Trust online shop, where I found a really beautiful silk scarf - a light one, which is what I want for summer, I have plenty of heavier ones.

So I ordered 2 more, for sister and SiL.
Thought I’d post here in case anyone else might be interested. It’s the waterscape one. Colours are gorgeous and it will IMO go with so many things. £20, which I thought reasonable for silk.

JackyB, I still haven’t found a massive bag of nuts I bought for dh’s stocking last time, and I only bought it a few weeks in advance. He swears he didn’t find it and make a ? of himself, but I think I may be forgiven for still harbouring Dark Suspicions.

No need to apologise.

Actually, I think I read somewhere that Jesus was actually born in June according to astronomers, so it could be C****** very soon indeed

I’m sorry for posting a misleading post. Serves me right for being awake at that time. I’m glad you didn’t take offence, because I’m impressed with all this knitting and stitching.

Mollygo, I never once imagined it was a case of Callistemon lacking any skills whatsoever.

I think Mollygo was referring to her sister, not me, Witzend

I possess the most amazing skills but am terribly modest ???

Thank goodness, I imagined blocking out everything, even those little hands shock

When I have finished this crocheted blanket I'll dig it all out again.

Jesus is ready and waiting for C, sleeping peacefully in his manger.

Mollygo, I had misunderstood your post, sorry. Memo to self, read things properly!

Callistemon, Only the blokes’ gowns, and Mary’s white robe thing, IIRC, though admittedly 6 gowns did get tedious, and you need pins with nice big heads, which I had to go and buy speshully.
I couldn’t bring myself to disobey the sainted JG’s instructions, though, since if you follow them, the things do turn out like the illustration. Which was something of a revelation to me when I was new to her patterns.

That scarf is far too nice to tie round your neck. I would frame it and put it on the wall.

And don't forget everyone to make notes in your diaries for the beginning of December where you have hidden your presents.

*Mollygo*, I never once imagined it was a case of Callistemon lacking any skills whatsoever. As regards the yet-to-be-sewn-up N set, I dare say it’s more the same sort of feeling I get when e.g. surveying a pile of ironing or the state of my oven.
i.e. ‘No thanks, just can’t face it.’ (And repeat ad lib).

I’m not sure my first N set would ever have been finished if I hadn’t sewn up and stuffed as I went along.

Witzend
Precisely!
I got carried away with the knitting and was put off when I read that each little piece should be blocked out.

Moths sorry!

Namsnanny Sat 15-May-21 10:31:25

I've seen a few months about lately and thought I must go through my scarf drawer to check on the blighters!
It's awful to pull out a cherished special-occasion one and find holes!

I have E….. E… that didn’t get gifted(what a daft word) will they keep till next year ? ?

crazyH Sat 15-May-21 10:30:49

Can’t find the scarf on the website - there are quite but none that looks like yours ?

FannyCornforth Sat 15-May-21 10:26:44

Drawer, not draw. I'm not an imbecile, honestly

Witzend it’s lovely....but I cannot justify yet another scarf,
My scarf drawer will hardly close as it is.?
I always mean to buy C presents throughout the year as I come across them, then forget to do it.

Oh lord, my scarf draw...
I love Christmas! It's never too early for me.
Roll on June 21st and then the nights start getting longer ?

crazyH Sat 15-May-21 10:25:09

Beautiful scarf - going to order one !

Namsnanny Sat 15-May-21 10:20:29

Callistemon, she always says she’s no good at anything, but she has skills I simply don’t possess or have the patience to do.

Callistemon Fri 14-May-21 19:01:23

And sewn it up?
Well done to her!

Mollygo Fri 14-May-21 18:56:25

Thanks ??
The knitted ‘N’ posts had me in stitches. I’m going to suggest the donkey and camel to my DSis who has already done an ‘N’ set.

Callistemon Fri 14-May-21 18:50:52

Will this thread keep going until C?

After all, it was the Annunciation on 25th March, so we are in a state of anticipation.

Callistemon Fri 14-May-21 18:46:55

No N set needs pissed-looking livestock lowering the tone.

Perhaps they were just celebrating the safe arrival of Jesus, Mary and Joseph and the wee donkey to their stable all forlorn ?

Witzend Fri 14-May-21 18:26:36

Callistemon, last year I did try knitting an ox to add to Gdcs’ N set, but alas it was not a Jean Greenhowe pattern, and turned out rather less well than the JG donkey.
He looked somewhat drunk, with wobbly legs and horns that didn’t look right.
So I didn’t bother trying the camel from the same designer. No N set needs pissed-looking livestock lowering the tone.

Ps Donkeys are not just for C********

No, with luck there will be enough left for Boxing Day!?

Callistemon Fri 14-May-21 16:40:42

The very one Aldom
But it belongs to Witzend, mine is as yet just a ball of yarn at the bottom of the pile!
