Nicknames for neighbours

We do have nicknames for neighbours, more to help know who we are talking about than to be disrespectful. We have an abundance of Daves so one became 'the godbod' as he always pops a religious newspaper through our letterbox. Another, the neighbourhood watch Dave. I bet my husband is electrical Dave.
New neighbours have become the Wonderful Family as I heard that said so many times before I met them. They are indeed a lovely family!
As child I remember my dad calling neighbours The Tinks as they were always fiddling with their car.
Just wondered if we are alone in our nicknaming of neighbours?

I've just realised that we must be Mr and Mrs Boring because we just refer to them by their first names, although if we can't remember their names they get referred to as 'you know, the ones who live in The Browns' house or The Smiths' house', ie the people who lived there first but left probably 20 or so years ago.

Right, thinking cap on!

We used to have a Mrs Busy, too - always dashing about on some errand or other. Then there were Mr Nosey, The Spaniel family and District Nurse.
There was Grandpa Mini, a very old man who drove a very venerable little car. Oddly, we always referred to his wife as Mrs Grandpa Mini and not Grandma Mini. Next door was Old Peculiar, a very reserved single man who had a few eccentricities but was actually a really nice person when we got to know him better.
It was always good to meet the Smiley People, a very young couple who always gave anyone they encountered a lovely smile and a greeting. The school crossing lady from the corner house was Mrs Lollipop and there was Patricia Parcels, a Hermes Courier.

Then we moved house and got to know most of the immediate neighbours fairly quickly by their proper names. The only exceptions are British Gas who makes himself conspicuous by parking his big blue van in inconsiderate places for days on end and Four Dogs who lives round the corner and is regularly taken for a sort of scrambling canter by a quartet of wolf-like creatures.

The blacksmith because he is always manufacturing knives in the backyard
The greenies because they are
Not for any of the others. We rarely see any of them, very quiet here.

We have a chocolate teapot, demolition man, the littlies as they have two small children born less than a year apart. We have neighbours who live in a two bedroom flat but we call it the Tardis because of the number of people we see going in and staying there.
We did have Neanderthal and the druggies but thankfully they have been moved on.

We have a few as having not long moved in we have only met a few people to learn their real names but as we see them pass by and 'know' them on the local FB site. So we have
DogCop (a real policeman with a dog)
Batman and the Batmobile
Airdale Man
our landscaper
UBU man - drives the roadsweeper
The Ladies
Jogger no 1
Jogger no 2
Nic the photos

Harrigran I used to work for a chocolate teapot!??
I can’t call them neighbours, but we get a lot of ‘sunset snappers’, who stop their cars, leap out and take pics of the sunset.

He wasn’t Samuel ‘ effing’ Jackson by any chance??

Shropshirelass Tue 18-May-21 09:50:43

Yes, we do! I expect we have nicknames too, might be better to not know!

Feelingmyage55 Tue 18-May-21 10:54:12

Am I the only person who says “my friend next door” or “my friend over the back”?

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 18-May-21 11:21:33

Fortunately most of our neighbours go by their real names, apart from The Wicked Witch who appears to be extremely two faced!

I have the Borrowers (only see them when they want a favour or to borrow something),
the Rocket Scientist (thinks he knows everything),
the Lucky Ones (given their house by her father!).
Recently found out my late DH was known as the Emergency Man, because when ever there was an emergency people knew he would fix it!

What a giggly thread!
Our old semis are close together so there are a lot of neighbours to know and name. To differentiate between two Jason’s we have Scrappie Jason/ Allotment Jason. The other is Jason next door. We have Allotment Anne, Jason’s wife, also depressed Anne.
Big white van man, small white van man. Paul the leccy, and poor Paul whose wife has recently left him.

I'm renaming all our neighbours now grin

Big Spoon Stirrer (she spreads rumours about neighbours)
Keep fit lad he is always out jogging.
Mad Mark (he speeds down the road in his van, many don't like him)
Alcoholic Mr Naseen comes home from work every night drunk.
Dirty Curtains (they are so black if you touched them they would fall apart)
Nosy Rosie (because she is ) but not as bad as Big Spoon stirrer)
The Druggie Dealing Den although they have been evicted now at last.

I expect they all call me the Dog Lady as I am seen walking my dogs everyday come rain or shine and most often someone is out and says Hello.

Alishka Walter was such a good painter and decorator as well as a plasterer he was flown all over the world to work for them. Many a time he was called upon to fend off attempted assassinators or armed robbers. It was amusing at first but he was also rather racist so we avoid him now, which is a shame as his wife is a lovely quiet lady.

greenlady102 Tue 18-May-21 16:08:07

I expect I have got nicknames but i have no idea what. The only neighbours I have ever nicknamed are the Nastyfaces. For some reason, from the moment they moved in they disliked me although I can honestly say I never ever got to speak to them, they would ignore me or turn away. They attempted to make trouble with the council by making unfounded complaints about my dogs. I think they just needed someone to bully. My snapping point was reached when the man came and banged on my door and yelled at me and I involved the police. I watched them subsequently pick quarrels with my other (lovely) neighbours and we were all glad when they moved away.

grandma60 Tue 18-May-21 16:08:07

Sorry, meant to say Walter was flown all over the world to work for diplomats and chief executives of large companies.

We have Mr Jag, when he moved in he had a jag, a neighbour we call Scott because when ever he went outside, whatever the weather, he was dressed for full artic conditions. Mr Turkey, from Turkey and Mrs Pink because everything, even the vacuum cleaner is pink

I had Pavarotti on one side years ago. Used to hear him gargling and singing!

When my older sister Phyllis was living at home with our parents and I had moved out, there was a neighbour always known as "Phyllis across the Road." She used to sign cards as "Phyllis A.T.R." Her husband was "David Across the Road" and their adult children all given the same sobriquet, all because of the woman's name.

We live in a cul-de-sac of wrinklies, us included.

We have Asbo many, he was given one in his 80's, on one side, and the unwrapped mummy on the other.

EEJit Wed 19-May-21 10:51:09

Asbo man, not many.

Diane7 Wed 19-May-21 11:00:57

When our neighbours went away, his mum and friend came to house-sit, we called them the golden girls.
