Good morning from an overcast North Leicestershire. The forecast isn't good but we had lots of dark clouds yesterday and very little rain - so who knows.

A Sainsbury's delivery today is my highlight!

Gingster Thu 20-May-21 07:58:05

Good morning from a dreary looking Essex.
Yesterday I walked little pooch with my friend and it rained the whole time we were out. We were in the woods so didn’t get too wet. After getting back home , the sun came out . Just can’t seem to get my timings right . ☔️?.

Last evening I had my first meal out with my lovely girl. We sat indoors and had a long chat. The pub was quite busy but it felt safe. You almost forgot what we’ve all been through this last year.

Scentia and GG - what good boys you have, enjoying their lunch out with their nannas. ??

Ashcombe what lovely pics. Glad you had such a lovely birthday ?.

Dmw beautiful flowers and goslings with mum. How sweet.

Today my indoor bowls group starts up again. It will be great to see everyone and have a good laugh at our ‘out of practice’ play. ?.

Another wet and windy day , so will hunker down when I get back.
I’m going to get some wool and crochet a baby blanket . Mum to be wants bright colours.

Has anyone got recipes for cakes and biscuits for diabetics ? Or the best place to buy them. ??. Couldn’t find much on google.

I do ramble on, Sorry! - wishing you all a pleasant day. ?

Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s bright and dry so hopefully we’ll not get any rain today.
Sorry to hear you’ve had a bad few days Cherry thinking of you and Georgesgran take care and enjoy your coffee with your friend today ?
Such uplifting news on here about families being reunited, days out, big hugs and even more vaccines. Sar53 and Ash enjoy staying with your families and I hope you have the best time ever.
Today I’ll be continuing the battle of the weeds in the garden and maybe a walk later. Nice easy days and see how it goes. Beautiful garden photos dwm and well done Gaga to your DH on his bike ride
Such lovely memories made Scentia with your DGS fine dining experience and you too GG13 with your DGS little imp ?
Hoping that everyone finds something to enjoy today, a random flamingo or two and take care all whatever the day brings.

Grandmabatty Thu 20-May-21 08:05:17

Good morning all. Polmont is sunny at the moment. The forecast isn't great though. Scentia what a wee star! My two year old grandson could definitely not manage a wine glass with water! He would eat the crab cakes though. Sar I'm sorry to hear about your uncle. I hope it gets sorted soon. Maw that sounds like such a comforting way to wake up, with a lovely dog in the bedroom. Georgesgran ?. I hope today you feel better.
Yesterday I had a lovely visit to my ds. We strolled to his local park and had coffee and cake then wandered into town for a quick visit to M&S then back to his place. It was lovely to spend time with him.
Today I have my second vaccination this afternoon which is good news. I will have to tidy up and pack as I'm going away for the weekend to Kelso, in the Scottish borders. My friend has invited me to their caravan for the weekend. Her and her partner will pick me up and drop me home so all I need to do is relax. I'm looking forward to it. Have a good day all.

Good morning from a murky Leicestershire.
I have postponed the NWR meeting in my garden this afternoon as rain is forecast.

Thinking of Grandmajet.
Georgesgran flowers I hope you feel better today.

May everyone have a good day.

Pittcity Thu 20-May-21 08:15:40

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. More rain forecast for later. I got caught in a downpour on the walk to our coffee meetup yesterday, so glad we can sit indoors.
Awaiting a call from the GP re test results. They just say morning, so you are hanging by the phone all the time. Nothing sinister, we just moved surgery and they gave me an MOT.
Online quiz with the family this evening. We've been doing it every Thursday since March 2020 and I don't think we'll continue much longer now that we can go to real pub quizzes again. I believe my new local does a good one.

Sending love to all x

Good morning from cloudy Cheshire. Bad day yesterday as DS confessed to a health concern that required a scan. I have health anxiety where my family is concerned so was pacing the house waiting to hear. All seems fine and nothing unpleasant found. A blood test still to be done but looking ok. You never stop worrying about your children even when they are 40 plus !
Zoom choir tonight and probably a walk.

Marydoll Thu 20-May-21 08:22:23

Good morning all from a cloudy Glasgow, where it is 8°C. Gaga, that temp counts as a pleasant temp here! ?

I cannot stop thinking of Grandmajet and the long road ahead, which awaits her. I hope all goes well today. ?

Glad you had a lovely birthday, Ash. Your daughter's school management team is indeed very enlightened. My boss used to even make a fuss, when I had a hospital appointment and I know it was the same in other schools in this LA. A pound of flesh, was often required!
GM, what a shame about your friend, it certainly is worrying.

We had the most enjoyable day yesterday, but I have paid the price today. I don't think I have been so exhausted in such a long time. Last night, I felt a very strange vibration in my wrist. It felt similar to my angiogram when the doctor was capturing pictures of inside my heart. ? It felt quite disorientating to say the least. Turned to be my Fitbit telling me that I had achieved 10,000 steps. I usually do between 1000 to 3500, depending on how unwell I am. It gave me such a boost. However, I will be lucky if I manage 1000 today, I have seized up! ?

Our plan was too buy a bag of chips and sit at the seafront, I was a bit wary of going in anywhere. However, when we passed an Italian restaurant, we frequented many moons ago, when we lived in Ayrshire, I noticed it looked empty.
I took the chance, went in and asked for a table. Result!! We had the most delicious meal, probably even more because it was unplanned.
To say my dessert was the food of the gods, is not doing it justice. Honeycomb cheesecake, with Italian ice cream, it was amazing.

Sadly, the town of Ayr was not the vibrant town I once knew. Derelict shops, demolished buildings, dirty and neglected, made me quite sad.
However, I did manage to grab a few bargains, one was a Monoply set for DD, who collects them. It had been reduced, but at the checkout, it had been reduced again, I paid £5, reduced from £39.99! You will see from the photo, its a little different. Oh and it's in French!! ?

Thinking of all our regulars, who are suffering daily and our missing friends.
Mick, I have to say, I worry about you. I agree with Maw, you need to be very careful, especially if you have underlying conditions and you are not wearing a mask on public transport, when numbers are rising in your area. Hopefully, you at least have a visor
Yesterday was probably our last day out for a while, as numbers are worryingly rising again here.

Enjoy your day, everyone.

BlueSapphire Thu 20-May-21 08:23:07

Good morning everyone from a grey Northampton; rain and strong winds forecast later, so a day indoors is on the cards. Sainsbury's delivery at lunchtime; everything present and correct on the order apart from a pair of rubber gloves, which I can well live without!

I managed to successfully install the NHS app yesterday afternoon; there was an alternative way of proving ID without a photo or video. I just needed to obtain personal information and pass-codes from the surgery which they were happy to provide, and enter it when prompted - and the computer said yes. Pleased that I can now see my vaccination record.

Must get moving, but there is a very comfortable cat on my knee. Have a good day everyone, especially grandmajet.

Grandmafrench Thu 20-May-21 08:23:34

Good Morning everyone! ☀️??.
You’ll still be very fragile, georgesgran and the last thing you need when you are struggling with ‘stuff’ is someone trashing your plans. Hope that your appointment today makes you feel more in control and time with your friend lifts your mood and makes you feel lots more positive. ?

Lovely photos, ash and dwm. Be kind to yourself for a while, cherry, so you’ll feel fit enough to savour that new kitchen!

Come back safely, grandmajet x

Steam cleaning the floors today, making something different for lunch - to support our new diet - and taking cuttings of lavender in lots of small pots. Speaking of which, Wiggy - my magnificent Stipa grass in a pot - not only has a similar size Mrs Wiggy now, but in addition to a couple of smaller Wigsters which I’ve raised, there are literally dozens of babies which have taken up residence in the same area. I’m going to put them all in pots or they will block the walkway. If only we lived nearer, Jax - they really are the most beautiful grasses. I shall be handing on lots to local friends. Must look out a photo.

Have a good day all you Morning Peeps. Maybe light a fire, grammaretto ? If it’s not too much like hard work, it’s so cheery! Unless MIL is going to be all over the house, is CH needed? Mmmm, maybe I’m not thinking “Scotland” !?

Stay safe ???and enjoy today, bye for now from French France.

Marydoll Thu 20-May-21 08:25:29

Georgesgran, I'm so sad to hear how you are feeling. I hope today is a better one. ?

Alygran Thu 20-May-21 08:41:29

Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s grey so far and more rain is forecast.
Had a lovely walk yesterday with friends then we sat in the garden for scones and coffee but had to move inside when it started to rain. Managed to get the grass cut later.
Georgesgran I hope you have a better day today.
I must tackle a pile of ironing before going off to a charity parent group.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe.

Anniebach Thu 20-May-21 08:42:09

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Urmstongran Thu 20-May-21 08:48:09

Good morning everyone from south Manchester. It’s overcast and rain is forecast later. Sitting outside a bar with Himself yesterday we caught the sun on our faces and forearms. We had sunglasses on and our watches and have white strips to show for it ha! We must have had plenty of Vit.D with our drinks!

We’ve been asked to collect the children from school and give them their tea. No fine dining will be on the table! Well done the littlies in Scentia and GG13 family. Son in law hopes to be home in time to take the boy wonder to his football practice. Organised mummy has just text me to say she’s set out the football kit on the bed.

Lovely to hear Rosie is so relaxed as to be having a lie-in. Great for you Maw! Thinking of grandmajet this morning.

Stay cautious everybody. We’ve come so far. x

hulahoop Thu 20-May-21 08:56:41

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 20-May-21 08:57:21

Good morning everyone. Thank you to those who sent me a cheer up message yesterday. I have cheered up. Just attempted exercises and feel I am doing something about my situation. Blue sky earlier now turning grey in this bit of the Scottish Borders. Going to tackle "putting things away" later. Two enormous baskets of laundry await. Ironing on the back burner for now. Radio four on. Countdown to elevenses..

Dogsmakemesmile Thu 20-May-21 08:59:40

Sorry. Forgot to wish everyone a good day.

EkwaNimitee Thu 20-May-21 09:14:18

Good morning, Mick and everyone. It was brilliantly sunny in the earlier hours but by the time I was down to breakfast, it had greyed over. My bet is, that by the time I go out to the dentist this afternoon, it will be starting to rain! Until then, a morning of housework and tackling another pile of shredding. I'm trying to minimise the amount of paperwork in the house. A small mountain of cardboard went yesterday and next week some surplus non-useful furniture etc is being collected. I do loathe being surrounded by clutter.
You get those bad days, Georgesgran, it's painful to be struck by the thought that your loved one is never coming back.
I'm thinking of grandmajet today and sending my best wishes for a speedy recovery.
And the best possible day to all.

Kalu Thu 20-May-21 09:14:29

Good morning from a cloudy Glasgow. Keeping my fingers crossed, the spike of covid cases doesn’t spread out to us Marydoll. ??

Georgesgran. My heart goes out to you and I could feel the sadness in your post. I just want to add, you are in my thoughts and I wish you strength to cope with the grief you bear. One day at a time. A day in your bathrobe is nothing to be ashamed of, it was how you felt but there will also be days with a chink of light to help you through which hopefully you will find as you meet up with your friend for coffee today. Look after yourself. K ?

monk08 Thu 20-May-21 09:14:35

Good morning all from the Black country where it is very overcast. Haven't read through yet but can see there are plenty of photos to enjoy.
Not much planned for today shopping and housework.
Will wish you all a pleasant day breakfast calling.

Greyduster Thu 20-May-21 09:16:19

Good morning, Michael and all GNs from a rather dreary, cool South Yorkshire. When is our summer going to begin, do you think? We managed to get some gardening done yesterday before the rain started and then it was game over, so we watched an old film on tv. We never watch tv during the day. What is the world coming to? Today we are going to look at paint samples. I can hardly contain my excitement!
A big hug for you, Georgesgran and fingers crossed for Grandmajet. To all, a pleasant and productive day.

GrannyOwl5 Thu 20-May-21 09:29:19

Good morning everyone from a grey north Kent coast where, surprisingly, more rain ☔️ is forecast. Delaying planting out my seedlings until next week as we have downpours and high winds tomorrow. I did read somewhere that June should be better weather. Well, that won’t be too difficult: anything would be better than what we’ve had!

Have an “empty” today as DH is playing golf. Not sure what the day will bring; need to motivate myself out of my usual routine and venture further afield, but finding it surprisingly difficult. DD suggested a meet up this morning in our nearby city, but I was annoyingly reluctant to agree and arranged a local lunch next week instead. Think I have covid locked-in syndrome!

Hope all goes well for Grandmajet today.

Have a good day everyone

Auntieflo Thu 20-May-21 09:39:33

Good morning Mick, Annie, and all.
I seem to have missed a few recent birthdays, so belated greetings to all the May babes. (mine soon)
I had such a good day yesterday, even had some spare energy, so didn't get around to reading the thread until late, so it wasn't worth posting then.
After yesterdays's sunny start, it is now grey and a bit chilly, so no doubt we will have more rain.
Should pop out to the shops soon, things I need for Saturday, and tomorrow I have a hospital appointment, and after that will probably feel pooped.

We had the representative from a design company here yesterday , and she has taken many notes about the unit that we would like. I wonder when the design comes through, whether it will be anything like we (I) have in our minds eye?
My neighbour popped over with her 20 month old daughter, to check up on me. The baby is a delight and entertained us for half an hour.
Marydoll, I could just eat your dessert, and well done on your 10000 steps. You need a medal now.
Sending best wishes and special thoughts to Grandmajet, Georgesgran, Cherry, and all who need a bit of TLC
Have a good day one and all.

Good Morning everyone from☔️ ???? Cornwall. Hope the Brits keep up there at the top Mick.

Thank you for your lovely comments GrandMattie. So sorry about your friend missing the trip out with you. It still shocks me to hear that it is still on our doorsteps. We have to be so careful.

I had a troubled leg last night too last night Beechnut but daren't think about our house build. I would have been wide awake then. Hope you got lots of zzzz in the end.

Dwmxwg Lovely photos. Thank you.

A difficult time for you georgesgran. Slowly does it. Enjoy the coffee with your friend today.

MawBe. Doggy "good mornings" are lovely. Mya greets me every day (she's downstairs) with her massive tail going ten to the dozen.

grandmajean You never stop worrying about your children even when they are 40 plus ! I agree with that. Glad your DS's results are looking positive.

Marydoll 10,000 steps? Great achievement. Even with two Mya walks a day and my gardening, I rarely manage more than 3,000. Rest well today. Hearing about numbers rising in Scotland makes me worry what's in store for England. I try to think positively and not worry but there's so much news of people travelling, stopping over and eating inside. I agree with Urm. Stay cautious everyone.

Bluesaphire. Pleased to read the NHS app is up and running. I'm still not sure why I didn't have to the same when I downloaded it. Not to worry - it works - that's the main thing.

Got up to a wet and windy welcome outside. This is it for the next two days apparently. I will stay ensconced inside with iplayer , book and GN. Wellies and heavy raincoat are ready by the door for Mya's walks. They won't take long as she hates this type of weather more than me. Highlight of my day will be Pilates tonight. Not too far to drive thank goodness. It's the first one. Looking forward to seeing the others and our little chat after we finish.
MrM suggested fish and chips tonight. I can get them on my way back home from Pilates. His reasoning behind this is that they have a board inside where locals post their business cards. We might find someone to help with the outside bit of the house build. Fingers crossed ??
I am thinking of making a doctor's appointment to talk about my hip pain. I have more bad than good night's sleep with it. Painkillers were required again last night. I see a hip replacement looming.

The fire needs another log and I can hear the wind outside. Is it really May ?

Take care everyone. Stay safe. ? ?

muse Thu 20-May-21 10:10:47

Looking forward to seeing your Wiggy Grandmafrench.

I'm a huge grasses fan. I bought three Stipa tenuissima (Mexican feather grass) last year. They look beautiful. I think some call it Pony Tails.
