Good Morning Thursday
(56 Posts)Good morning from a bright E Kent , at last. Cirrus clouds, so perhaps relief from grey...
My old friend in the nursing home was put into solitary for a week on Tuesday night, as were all the other residents. “Someone” had tested positive! Rebooked for next week.
Market today. Might get some more asparagus. My fave, and as it’s grown locally, won’t have travelled more than about 5 miles! Some flowers too.
Hope operations go well, pain is relieved as is anxiety, birthdays celebrated with hugs and family and a flamboyance of flamingos ? ???explodes into your lives. ?
Good morning from a grey Morecambe Bay. After a busy couple of days I’m going to use today to sort out all those bits of jobs which I’ve been putting off. My mountain of batteries to the tip or as it is called these days the recycling centre, and bags of clothes to the charity shop. After last night’s Sewing Bee I did wonder about rescuing the denim jeans and doing something with them but then I thought better of that idea. I’m supposed to be getting rid of stuff.
Thinking of all with pain, worries and poorly family members.
Take care everyone and stay safe.???
Good morning, everyone from a rather dreary Crewe after a fine day yesterday.
Thank you to all of you who posted such kind birthday greetings yesterday. I had the best of days, starting with a Zoom call with olddudders then a four mile walk with DD2 around the lake at Trentham Gardens in the sunshine. Yes, Marydoll, my DD2’s school allows each member of staff a day and a half off each year to be used for any purpose. An enlightened approach.
Later we were joined at home by my SIL's children, aged 17 and 18 plus DS with DGS3 for a barbecue, for which it remained fine. The evening was rounded off by DGS3, aged 5, giving a brilliant reading of the story of “The Wonky Donkey”, which had us all in stitches!
For the next couple of days, I’ll be catching up with friends from my younger days around mid Staffs., including the Haywoods, where I lived for nearly 40 years.
With thoughts and prayers for all who are suffering, especially grandmajet.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it looks like a sunny day could skip us today, I am still in my shorts nonetheless!!
My date with DGS was one of the best days I have had in a long time. He could still remember how to swim, bonus?. We went for lunch and he was the star of the restaurant, what an angel, he ate all theee crab cakes and his triple cooked chips, the vegetables however did not go down too well!! He had cheesecake for dessert and to top it all he had a wine glass with his water in. I felt he was so grown up for a two year old❤️
I took the bull by the horns last night and was first out on the close with my bin last night, I then spent the whole evening ‘worried’ I had put the wrong one out and the whole close would copy me!! We will see later today?
Off to work shortly and then this evening I will clear the wardrobes in the spare bedrooms.
Have a good day everyone.
Good morning from a grey looking Kent where I am sitting in bed at DD2's house waiting for signs of life. It was so lovely to see them all yesterday and I have read so many books to my 3 year old granddaughter.
My daughter and I are going to Bluewater shopping today and will hopefully have lunch whilst we are out.
I had some sad news on the way here yesterday. My uncle in Australia, in his 80's, was rushed to hospital on Monday evening with incredibly high blood pressure. He is having an Angiogram today. I'm keeping my fingers crossed for a good outcome.
Have a pleasant Thursday everyone and find a ? xx
Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.
I’m early this morning as it’s childminding day so we will be off just after eight and the little pooch has to be dropped at doggy day care before that.
Shame about your friend’s care home gM.
Wishing everyone a peaceful day.
Morning Mick and all
Yesterday’s lunch with DD, 6yr old and The Imp was successful, he was a good boy and ate everything up as opposed to it landing on the floor!!! We were worried as with the other GC they were regularly eating out and socialised The Imp hasn’t been out to a restaurant (like us all!!!) since October, along with the fact he is a little whirlwind with a forceful character!!
His big brother stayed over here last night, so we are up with the lark, changing the beds in what we call the GC room and sorting out the toys and teddies is my plan for the day!!
Hope you all have the best Thursday.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good Morning all from Severnside. It’s dry and overcast.
My leg was hurting and it took me longer to get off to sleep last night. I had to resort to thinking about my ‘house build’ to get the zeds to work ?
I’m off to the dentist later and shall have to remember my brolly. I expect we will still be sitting outside.
Have a good day whatever you do ?
Morning all from a distinctly chilly (7.4c) south coast with the promise of gales and more rain today. We shall hunker down and be glad we are safe and warm and dry. I always think of the rough sleepers when the weather is so inclement and am thankful for my nice, warm bed Poor souls.
DH did his longest bike ride yesterday, with his club, since before he was struck down last summer. 55 miles! Good to tell who our DS takes after and it's not me! #lazygran!
Your little DGS sounds as if he has taken to fine dining Scentia. What you have started! Look out for him wanting to go to the Ritz next! I could just imagine him putting a smile on all the staff and other diners with his wine glass poised.
I need to do my click and collect shopping list today, ready for Saturday pick up and DS's next post-training visit. I am thinking of kedgeree followed by raspberry tart for the menu. DH says he's enjoying the prodigal son feasts!
Hope the day is a good one for us all.
Good morning all from north Surrey
Sending best wishes to Grandmajet today
Yesterday the weather was kind for a Savill Garden visit, the azaleas and rhododendrons were stunning. Will try and post a few pictures.
DS had his first vaccination yesterday, he is 35, that’s is all the adults in our family vaccinated now, such a relief.
Boys still asleep, they wouldn’t stop talking last night when they went to bed. I told them how I shared a bed with my sister and we were always threatened that dad would be up with the wooden spoon if we didn’t go to sleep, he never did carry out the threat, he was, and still is a big softie.
DH will do the school run whilst I tidy round and we will walk the dog when he gets back. Visit to mum and dad with my cleaning stuff and then on to look after DGD2 whilst DGD1 has child vaccinations.
DH will be on school pick up for the boys and it is their favourite programme tonight, The Dog House, I let them stay up to watch.
Hoping all have a good day with hugs and continued freedom
No luck with pictures, need to get going with boys now so will try again later
And there they are!
Lovely photos, Dwmxwg. I find that every time I post pictures, there’s a time lag between the text appearing and the photos. One of Gransnet's quirks!
Good morning all from a cloudy S Hants, apparently a high of 13 today, oh joy, also due 60mph winds in the next 24 hours, yesterday afternoon was sun/heavy rain and thunder. Smart meter was installed, my friend came indoors for coffee, most importantly I had giant hugs with DD and GC’s. This morning I’ve a nurse appt for blood test (sodium levels) then I’m off to buy some grasses and plants, hopefully staying dry.
Wishing you all a lovely day, thoughts with grandmajet and hoping Susan is alright too.
Good morning everybody!
That’s the second time I’ve woken late (7) and Rosie has still been asleep in the corner of my bedroom! I could get used to this.
Lovely coffee in the garden with friend yesterday morning, definitely the best weather of the day, really warm.
If that is a foretaste of summer - bring it on!
I have no fixed plans for today other than a walk up to our visiting post office which comes to the village one morning a week since we lost ours.
Worrying news of the rise of Covid cases around the area, (Bedford, Aylesbury, Buckingham) mostly attributed, I believe to the secondary schools whose students use the service buses to get to school as the catchment area is quite widespread.
Keep that social distance Mick !
Good morning from a bright and sunny NE.
Today we are having the CCTV system updated, workmen will be here all day changing cameras and setting up a new recorder.
Busy day with parcel deliveries but means I can get the boxes into the recycling for tomorrow's collection.
Enjoy your outings.
Sar53 it sounds like you are having a brilliant time, let us know what Bluewater is like please, it’s one of the places DD and I are considering for 1/2 term.
Scentia pleased your day out with your GS went well, 2 is a magical age I think it’s the transition from toddler to little person.
Good morning from a grey Teddington. Hope to be going for a walk later with friends, DH has just said that the forecast is for wind and rain for the next couple of days, no change there then! Lovely to hear that Rosie is settling in with Maw. Hope everyone has the best day possible.
Good morning from Durham. Yesterday wasn’t good - the new Solicitor postponed my appointment and I just couldn’t be bothered to do anything - sat in bathrobe all day. I never thought I would miss DH so much.
Coffee this morning with an old friend then the delayed appointment this afternoon. Onwards and upwards today, I hope.
Have a good day all. X
Good morning everyone. It's a misty drizzly start in the Gower.
I've had a difficult couple of days and am feeling a bit ragged so I'll be brief this morning.
Happy belated birthday Ashcombe ??
I hope your procedure goes well Grandmajet
Thinking of Susan and Auntieflo
Thank you Marydoll
? and hugs ? to you all ❤️
Good morning. Yesterday turned out to be fairly warm and sunny. Enjoyed our outside lunch. Not looking so bright this morning.
Hopefully we will get out in the garden today to empty some planters and refill them with seasonal blooms.
Hope everyone finds a ? today.
Good morning from the Scottish Borders where it looks like another sunny/showery day ahead.
My quandary is "should I put the heating on?" MiL is coming for lunch and she does feel the cold so I think on balance I will or light a fire?
Sorry you had a rough time Cherry so rotten for you. Though I think your team has performed well... am I right?
Great BD Ashcombe
and lovely photos from you and from Dwmx I hope the goslings survive.
Sorry to hear of aches and pains. Keep gently exercising is my advice. Have a good Thursday everyone.
Grief comes at us any many forms and when we least expect it Georgesgran just go with how you feel each morning. ??
Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is grey and cool - not what was on order as a group of us had planned to meet in a friend’s garden this afternoon.
What a delightful image you give of your DGS Scentia. He’s such a star! Thank you for the lovely photos Ashcombe and dwm. Here’s one for amselerin of the train on the Liverpool - Southport route. grandmajet - I’m thinking of you today and hoping all goes well.
Have the best day you can everyone.
