Have you still got the heating on?

It's the thing my husband and I row about most. I don't really feel the cold, I'd be happy with the thermastat on 19, I use a summer duvet all year and wear flip flops all year. He wants the temp 23 has a winter duvet all year. Even uses an electric heater in the living room when he's cold. I spend most of the winter in my bedroom to avoid the sauna in the living room yes our fuel bills are extortionate

Yes - it's still cold here in the North East of Scotland! Ne'er cast a clout till May is oot - certainly true in this part of the world!

Never off, just turn it down if house is too warm.

Goes on for a couple of hours in the evening = has been a long cold spring, such a contrast to last year

Never turn mine off, it’s thermostat controlled and set for 19 degrees daytime and minimum of 14 overnight. Must admit I do bump it up during the day if I’m cold!

Turned ours off about a month ago, don't usually turn it on again till about late October/early November. But I am still putting my electric blanket on before bed, just on 1, to take the chill off for my feet!

Heating on don’t like cold damp weather. As for my plants I was looking forward to a good show but lost lot of young bushes to the frost especially my Azaleas thst havnt bloomed. Can’t believe almost June and feels like winter!

I tried not having the heating on for a day,but was so cold I turned it back on,and has been ever since. At my age I need comfort and warmth.

Always confuses me this question. Still? Why have set times/days/months to turn it off? Weird. If it's chilly, it's there to use, whether it's January or July.

Ours is on as usual - the thermostat has decreed it so!!

Mine is off all day then DH comes in and turns it in for an hour if its chilly.

We operate ours by the thermostat, so if it feels cold, on it goes.
So it’s been on considerably more than usual for May lately.

Oh yes. We both hate to be cold. Ours is set to come on if the temperature dips below 18 degrees during the day, and I think it’s 12 overnight, so it rarely clicks on then. I was checking our energy usage online yesterday and we’ve used so much more this month and last than we did at this time last year. It must have been so much warmer in 2020.

I did notice while in our energy account that the fixed term tariffs on offer right now are about 30% dearer than the one we’re on. I wish now that I’d fixed the price for 3 years, instead of just the one.

I did fix the price for three years.

The three years ran out on 31 March 2021.

New price is about 40% dearer!

I try to regard it that I saved a lot over much of the three years, which may well be true, but it still a big price rise.

Mostly warm here. Windows open day and night. BUT because the heating is centralised, I can't turn it of!

Ours is still on. Turn it up and down but never off. Can't stand being cold - reminds me too much of growing up in a draughty house where there was ice on the windows in the morning.

Most definitely! Its cold, wet and downright horrible here right now. I've no intention of removing the winter duvet yet either.

Wood burner going non stop. No central heating.

Apart from at night ours is on all the time, controlled by the thermostat, so it doesn’t come on when it turns mild in the spring, then comes on again probably mid September when we start to get chilly mornings and evenings.

This year though, apart from a warm sunny spell in April, it’s cold enough for it to come on each day.

Yes, we have! And I had no idea. I was sitting here, feeling terribly warm, wondering if I was coming down with some dreadful lurgy.

I asked my dearest if he was feeling warm and he informed me. that the heating was on.

We have battles here. He prefers it to be warm/hot whereas I prefer it a bit chilly

Can't cope with a warm bedroom either.So the radiator is never on in there.

Our heating is on the same schedule all year. We have a timer and thermostats. That’s how modern central heating works.

Surely we all wish to be comfortable in our homes so my choice is 19C from 6:00 - 16:00 then 21C from 16:00 - 22:00.

We use 4.5 tog duvets all year and our direct debit for power is £56 per month. Money very well spent in my estimation.

Cold spring here as well... my heat is still on. I keep the thermostat set at 19 or 20c.

Glad to commiserate with other warm-bloodeds here. I remember a thread not so long ago about heating and there were about 6 pages of replies where no-one ever turned on the heat and all kept the windows open all year. I thought they were bonkers.

Ours is on a timer and comes on if the temperature drops below a set level - it's been coming on thus last few days.
