Quick update fro me. DH just phoned to say that he is about to return but he had been sent to the wrong department. He should have been seeing a surgeon, so the whole process starts again.
Grandmafrench, I like your Stipa grass and expect it would do well here. I have something similar but with what I can only describe as tassels on the end. I have it contained in a pot now but when we had it in a bed some strayed onto next door’s boundaries and I have seen some has been blown further up the road as well. Next door obviously likes it as when his fields are cut back, he leaves the pretty clump of grasses on the edge. I’ll try to get a photo later, maybe the name will come back to me or somebody might know it.

Good Morning Friday
(88 Posts)Good Morning Everyone,
from a vey wet and windy brackley this morning.
My usual shop today , and then maybe nip to the chippy for fish & chips takeaway, followed by a nap and then cycling on TV .
I had the results of my MoT yesterday despite still to have a proper blood test , and have to arrange an appointment with a surgery nurse as to outcome and suggestions to me .
Take Care ,
Mick
It’s a beautiful day but windy, the grasses are now dancing wildly in the wind.
I love these dustyangel. Are they pennisetum?
Harris do hope your DH is better soon. Also thinking of Grandmajet
Welcome Blossom5 and any other newbies I may have missed.
what a kefuffle Cherry but coffee does smell good!!
I'm sending sympathy for your DH's time-wasting journey, dusty - I'm sure that hospitals often think that people have nothing else in their lives! Love your grasses. I should imagine that they did spread themselves about quite a bit, but things are lovely in clumps. Only thing banned in this part of the world is Pampas grass - and possibly too much of a fire hazard at certain times of year.
I think you're right Litterpicker - the only thing I can find that fits the bill is Pennisetum setaceum. Not seen it before, it's very pretty. I do love the Pennisetum villosum - Feather Top. It has lovely very fat and fluffy little rabbit's tails which blow about in the wind in the same way. You can expect a boxful of Stipa grass coming your way, dusty!!!!! I've run out of places to send baby plants to - given that importing and exporting plants from the UK on a casual basis is now out of the question. ?
Thank you Litterpicker, I love your name. Yes they are Pennisetum setaceum. I knew the name as soon as you said it and I just looked up the variety.
Borrheid for pity's sake - what are (unwell) men like?! I hope you do clype him in/dob him in/grass him up !!!!! That'll teach him to think he's superman. What about all the stress and pain and sadness that going backwards after surgery causes? And to you? An uncomplicated recovery aided by you with him following orders and behaving responsibly might be nice? Tell him I said so.....I'm possibly sufficiently far away to escape eye rolling and bad language. ?
Good afternoon from gusty wet Cornwall. I started this at 9:30 this morning. Days rarely go to plan here.
Harris21. I do hope things get sorted for your DH. An upsetting time and hope you have family + friends close by for support.
B9exchange I'm very intrigued with a plumber working your freezer. Wondering if it runs on calor gas like our last fridge.
Apology accept Nannagarra. Jax sends me a ? so I return the same in my messages.
Welcome to Blossom5. I've driven through Weymouth a few times. I used to go to Portland for my yearly dose of stone carving.
I'll finish with my update then read what posts have overtaken me.
Great news from dear son. A text this morning (2 lines). He's been offered two jobs. One is a 9 month contract. He is so pleased. So am I. I'm beaming for him. Can't wait for him to ring to find out which one he has gone for and all about it. Yippee ??♀️
Keep wondering why others have been asked to supply photo or video to prove identity for the NHS app. That came as a choice with me but I'd didn't chose it. I'm now wondering if by using touch ID on my iphone, it negates the need for the photo.
Empty days never happen here☹️. Well, they do, but I have to make them happen. Just ignore the gardening and household tasks and bingo, I can have a jolly. Sort of planned that yesterday and for today but not picked my book up or watched Sewing Bee yet.
Corner - Truro is my go to place. I've tried all the cafes there since moving to Cornwall six years ago but now lunch is always at the Arts cafe. ?
Currently waiting for a text or call from the chap that helps us maintain the woods. A birch is leaving the ground?. It stands close close to our bedroom annex hut. The gusting has brought a few dead branches down around the place too.
Also waiting for a call from the garage. He's done a video of a car I'm interested in. Can't risk being without a car again, living where we do. He omitted to put the price on the running commentary.
Rain is currently easing as is the wind. Take care everyone. Thoughts with those in hospital or feeling under the weather.
Lets hope we all get some sun tomorrow.

Grandmafrench you made me laugh! The nurse tore him off a strip. By the time she arrived he had also managed to open one of the (small) wounds. “I was having a wash” he said. Now under strict instructions to play the game! It’s like looking after a two year old.
Thank you all x
Late due to time difference.
It's so nice to hear all of those that are meeting friends for lunches out. We are still under lockdown until after this weekend, when they will make a new announcement.
Working today as usual (logging on while it's slow). DH had a knee operation Wednesday so he is home resting on his reclining chair. He's a hard one to keep still, but this is perhaps tougher than he thought with crutches. Recovery should not be too long, but he is supposed to stay off of it for two weeks. Our house has 25 steps up to the front door, and 8 steps down to the back garden, so he is housebound for now. I may need emotional support....
We have a very cold spring here as well. I did put some bedding plants in and hope they thrive. I'm not one to pamper them too much. Snapdragons, dahlias and osteospurmum. Hopefully will get some nice arrangements for indoors.
Have a good weekend all.
Good evening, Canadian Gran, you will get plenty of support here as you will probably need it!
I hope your husband recovers quickly!
