Hi Doodle ? ?
Yes, me too muse. I think Himself runs on Duracell batteries!

I am completely the opposite.
They do say ‘opposites attract’ don’t they? ?

Yet another *Soops* kitchen for all us like minded people
(1001 Posts)I found the key that soop left.
I must complain that getting down to retrieve keys then getting up again is very tricky! Please leave them in a more accessible place in future.
Anyway here’s a bottle of Dom Perignon and a large iced bowl of caviar to open the kitchen!
( we’re going posh this time!
Lovely when people have lots of energy. I do but it now comes in bursts (interspersed with #lazygran go slows). I blame the people I'm mixing with !!!!! Urms?
Been quite a long day. Something woke me at 5.20am. Beautiful morning but far too early. Smallest cat was strolling down the garden - she did a runner last night because of the perfect weather. Naughty girl. She obviously thought I'd be pleased to leap up and make her breakfast. I did open the door and she came into the bedroom and then purred like a train for about 20 minutes before settling down.
I got up and caught up on some ironing, let everyone out and in again, did their breakfasts, by which time DH was making tea. We sat out in the garden to eat and both cats settled down for a long sleep.
Afternoon in the countryside, sitting on some friends' terrace in 31 degrees today, under their awning and in a wonderful breeze. I had a delicious pot of quince tea (weird but nice) and two slices of lemon meringue pie. Superb. We had our first hug in 16 months and put the world to rights (since January), the dogs rampaged around the garden and at one stage they almost - but not quite - caught up with a Hoopoe. Such bonkers birds and so pretty. They are off on a long weekend in the Tarn, with river walks and castle visits. First time their new rescue dog will stay in an hotel. I told them if ours can stay in hotels, any dog can!!
Met a near neighbour here for the first time this evening and told her that her lovely Siamese cat often comes into our house just for a minute or two. She's a darling and I often make a huge fuss of her. I told her that I had had a Siamese years ago and that hers is much bigger - in fact very big for a female cat. She said that this is because he's a boy! Much laughter. Shows what I know. No wonder he's such a character. He was our late Nouba's best buddy and I often think he misses him.
Supper in the garden here and after a bit of t.v., and a fair amount of energetic sneezing due to Jasmine, Honeysuckle, Night Scented Stock and Roses wafting from the garden darkness, I'm definitely ready for bed now.
Lovely to read of all your doings, outings and aboutings. Lovely that life is slowly becoming more normal and I'm keeping fingers crossed that nothing serious now gets in the way of the plans for freedom. I'm so proud of how far we've come and how brave and stoic and upbeat so many Grans have been.
We need to get together and make our own plan to provide soop with a permanent link to the 21st century, I think. Demanding payment for a service which has all the reliability of 2 empty baked bean cans and a length of string should make BT ashamed - they're not of course, and more's the pity.
Nighty night lovely Kitchen types - especially you, dear brave Panache. We couldn't wish any harder for you. ????
Sorry you’re still cut off soop, major buggeration for you.
We wandered our closest NT after Mr C’s visit to the vampire this morning. Seeing the bruise spreading on his arm I’m not so sure that was a joke.
Some very pretty blooms made the wander around extra special
My apologies, thr z,it he. I’d too busy for me to keep up properly. TOYA for sure. Sleep well everyone, please rest if you can’t sleep.
For goodness sake - that should have been ‘the Kitchen is’. Proof reading is a good plan
.
Just a quick good morning from me. I just wanted to send a gentle hug to panache. Take care.
And to hope that soop gets back to us soon. Thank you baggs for the updates.
As corner said, this kitchen is too busy to mention everyone but I am TOYA. And please sit down for a while! Though, to be fair, if I sat down for a while I could keep up.
I love reading about everybody’s outings and a’boutings too (great phrase Grandmafrench ).
And hearing about everyone’s pets.
Also fabulous flowers on the Kitchen thread yesterday - anemones, peonies, rhododendrons and a beautiful rose.
I hope soop is soon reconnected very soon.
I am an early bird today and am going to the Dentist. Quite a big job (no doubt a big bill too)! It has to be done.
I hope everyone finds and enjoys rays of sunshine ?
And Grandmabatty I was wow’ed by your painting of bluebells. What a steady hand and a wonderful eye for floral details you have.
Please keep sharing pictures of your pictures ?
Oh Puzzler I do hope all goes well today. Not a pleasant thought but it has to be done. With luck you may get a pleasant surprise re the bill. I hope you have nice soft food sorted out for your supper.
HelloGirl Billy has certainly settled into his new abode- he looks so handsome. All I can say about the scratching post is better it than a piece of your furniture. Tara used to walk around the scratching post- she never used it. In her younger days the furniture was so much better.
TOYA
Puzzler61 thank you very much. I hope the trip to the dentist isn't too painful ; physically and financially.
I meant to mention I watched In Plain Sight on ITV at 9 pm last night and it was seriously good. It is on tonight and tomorrow also. Martin Compton who played Steve in Line of Duty has a leading part. It is set in the 40's and 50's- well worth watching.
Thanks Charley and Gbatty I’m not scared of the dentist thankfully. He is very kind, but I am worried I may have an empty purse afterwards ?
“In Plain Sight” is worth recommending isn’t it Charleygirl ?
Puzzler I would pay your dental bill if you would attend mine, deffered until 6th July, for me!
We watched it too Charleygirl and what an arrogant character Martin is playing!
Have a decent day all.
It’s been a busy few days in the brook household so just catching up now, but the main thing I want to say I’m thinking of Panache and her DH, such a sad situation and sending you much love, strength and support ?
Good morning from the Shire. Currently relaxing following a fight putting up freshly washed curtains. They seem so heavy when reaching up.
I made some notes yesterday as I had such a magical experience taken out for a ride. We drove along tiny country lanes bordered by gently moving white cow parsley and surrounded by white dripping May blossom trees. It was like driving through a tulle veil gently moving in the breeze. Absolutely stunning. In an open top low car, we certainly felt as if we were wrapped in loveliness.
Good new on the ophthalmic front. CH's eye check yesterday showed no retinal problems, so its on to the lens extraction appointment tomorrow now.
Poor soop disconnected again. those views and sunsets must make up for it somewhat.
Finally seeing podiatry about my very painful foot. Hoping they can do something to help.
Grandmafrench your day sounded lovely. We too are outside most of the day and evening, but today I have to catch up inside until luinchtime, so I had better get on. Usual apologies to anyone I have missed but I do my best to try and remember.
Take care and keep safe everyone.
Good morning - lovely to read your amazing description Izabella. Good news about CH and hope they can sort your foot out.
I really feel for soop - I would rather the car wouldn't start than not have any internet. I do hope they sort it out soon - thank you Baggs for keeping us updated.
Your world sound idyllic Grandmafrench - I love France and its countryside. We used to camp there for 4 weeks every summer.
They are beautiful roses corner I wish I could grow them. My favourite is Peace but all mine seem to die after one year.
Good luck at the dentist Puzzler. My mouth is also worth a fortune but I just about have all my own teeth still.
Hoping everyone has a good day in this lovely weather and my thoughts are as ever with the Panaches.
Evening all,
I'm afraid I'm totally out of the loop and no hope of catching up . So apologies to all. Hope you are all doing well.
We are enjoying summer and the garden is beginning to look glorious. We have the funeral to deal with next week and family issues on our SiLs side sound like it will be interesting.
Then we are hoping, rules permitting to have Christmas in June with the family. We shall see.
I see Soop is disconnected again. What a buggeration.
Good luck at the Dentist Puzzler. I have finally bitten the bullet and found a new private dentist who seems lovely. I now have a dental plan in place to resolve the issues which have gotten so bad over lockdown and I am selling a kidney to pay for it if anyone needs one well -used, slightly battered one !
I'll leave you with a compilation of the flowers blooming in the garden now- summer on a sunny day in Norfolk is hard to beat x
Fabulous flowers - thank you N&G and Cornergran, and the smell as described by Grandmfrench made me feel as I was in her garden. Even our is quite pleasant as we have sweet peas and pinks scenting the warm air as I bring the washing in.
Much cheered by a visit to have my blood pressure checked and finding it is within normal range for my age. Given how stressed I have been by DH lately I am amazed and pleased and definitely calmer - until the next drama.
So sorry about Soop’s internet, the ultimate in frustrations. Let’s hope it can be sorted soon.
Wonderful floral photos, thank you cornergran,
& NanaandGrampy, I love Norfolk, (although the rhododendrons were not quite at their best as we passed by Sandringham last week & the week before).
soop still having internet problems.? We do miss being "connected", we just take it for granted until it's not there.
We don't have it at our little home-from-home on NW Nfk.,coast, I miss keeping up with you all when we are there.
Take Care, lovely folk.
Charley thanks for the tip about In Plain Sight. I’m always on the lookout for something good to watch. Hope you are keeping well.
corner lovely flowers. Must have been a nice NT visit.
Izabella you describe things so beautifully.
N&G the funeral goes as well as it can. Your flowers look lovely. Thank you for sharing them with us.
soop hope you’re back with us soon.
Take care all ?
Doodle it was filmed in 2016 so Martin looks so young and fresh faced. I do hope you enjoy it as it is a true story.
All of the flower photos are just beautiful-they top my weeds any day.
Absolutely beautiful photos of your garden flowers N&G and a lovely way to show them all on one photo too - very clever!
I’ve had a day doing nothing much - just a bit of housework and I got the all the bedding washed and dried outside. It’s still beautiful sunny weather here in Inverness, we’ve been so lucky recently to have had such a long dry spell - and it’s still continuing!
We had a bit of a disappointment with a holiday we’d planned for July with DD2 and the DGC. We’d booked a beautiful self catering cottage for us all but I got a message earlier saying the host had to cancel ? so we’re a bit stuck now and there’s very little availability anywhere! Anyhow I’ll keep looking and if I can’t find anything suitable it’ll be days out or a tent!
We’ve got salmon and salad for tea soon, nice and summery so I’ll be having that and then settling down with the Tv for company
Hoping everyone has a lovely evening
Really chuffed with the car. 2017 but looks very young for its age. Like me ?(I wish). Didn’t get all done as I planned. Friends were sat outside with mrM when I got back from the garage. They’d arrived with lunch. Cornish pasties, millionaires shortbread and saffron buns. All from, what I regard, as the best bakers in Cornwall. The saffron buns we saved to have with a cuppa later in the afternoon. They live 20 mins drive away but we haven’t seen them since the pandemic started. He has shielded a good part of the time and really only just started to get out again.
grandmaFrench. What a tranquil day. I ignored the ironing section.
I’ll watch that Charleygirl. Wondering what accent Martin Compson will have . Do like own Scottish one. So he was 34 when he filmed it. ?
Hope soop is with us tomorrow.
Wondering how panache got on with the meeting about MrP today. Do hope she drops in to the kitchen again very soon.
The tax office have given me a £320 refund. ?. I had 10% of mrM’s personal allowance. Third year running.
Amazing amount of police activity on the roads today. Lead up to the G7 conference. I shall stay close to home.
Izabella your posts are so beautiful and poetic, thank you. N&G stunning flowers, your post is pretty and clever.
Today has been a lot of phone ‘on hold’, but I hope I’ve finally sorted out where our new furniture is..thanks JL, has customer service expired? And insured our new phones that arrived, but won’t be used until cases arrive tomorrow.
It’s my friend’s 70th today, so, as we do in the village, all down the local to sing the song and cheer her good health. I organised and paid for the cake which is very ‘her’ she’s very happy. We’ve got Chinese on the way for dinner, I really couldn’t be bother, #lazygran Urms.
Have a pleasant evening all.x
For lunch today I had a slice of homemade sourdough bread dipped in extra vitgin olive oil and balsamic vinegar. Simple but delicious.
I agree, where’s mine Galen? ?
