I found the key that soop left.
I must complain that getting down to retrieve keys then getting up again is very tricky! Please leave them in a more accessible place in future.
Anyway here’s a bottle of Dom Perignon and a large iced bowl of caviar to open the kitchen!
( we’re going posh this time!

soop must be hopping with frustration…again, I would be.
A quiet morning, bit of weeding, they love this weather, my first flower on the passion climber, I’m happy the new plants seem to be ‘taking’.
This afternoon I took our friend, who has been diagnosed with vascular dementia, for a drive. We went to Winchester, about 5 miles away, down roads I had no idea about even though I worked there for 13 years! We visited the various houses/flats he’d lived in, as a child, adult, married, his old primary school, now flats, first pub. He was very grateful and I dropped him back in the village at his Dad’s. Just watered the garden, dinner on the go.
Grandmafrench I’ve been thinking about your friend today, unimaginable and of you too. panache as well.
As I drove along leafy country roads I appreciated everything just that bit more, MrJ had a bigger hug and kiss when he got home earlier.
Have a gentle evening all, your kitchen company is much appreciated here. X

Have a pleasant evening everyone.

kittylester Wed 09-Jun-21 20:15:42

We have a brilliant book called 'My cat likes to hide in boxes' - they all do.

Jaxjacky Wed 09-Jun-21 20:16:05

Oh yes, interested please Yiayia4 have an utterly fabulous time!

Grandmabatty Wed 09-Jun-21 20:24:44

Yiayia have a lovely time and do share photos please. Soop we miss you. I hope you are well and Fern continues to flourish. BladeAnnie I have an aversion to worms too. JaxJacky you are a very good friend taking him for a memory run. It sounds poignant. Muse it's not been cold here but really muggy and dull. Good evening Kitcheners. I was being a drama queen today for a head teacher post. It's very interesting and I enjoy doing it. Then home for a lazy afternoon. I made pancakes as I had spare batter so naturally I had to try them. I hope you had a better day Grandmafrench. I'm getting ready to watch the semi final of the sewing bee. Have a good evening all.

Yiayia4 Wed 09-Jun-21 20:25:03

Thanks Jaxjacky

Doodle Wed 09-Jun-21 20:48:16

Quick update from Panache MrP is waiting for a move to a cancer bed where he will have one to one care. He is still trying to smile for Panache.

soop not internet again! Nothing for it kitcheners, we must practice smoke signals or drumming. Hope you are back on line soon soop

Yiayia4 Wed 09-Jun-21 20:53:27

Panache and MrP ??

Jaxjacky Wed 09-Jun-21 21:00:28

Thank you Doodle very sad, but probably the right care for MrP and some tinged relief for panache.

Urmstongran Wed 09-Jun-21 21:28:40

‘Evening All’.

I’m tired but in a good way. We drove over to Edgbaston in Birmingham. 2 hours door to door, taking my stepfather over to see his 95y old brother. They keep in regular contact but hadn’t seen one another for 15 months. It was lovely to see two elderly brothers enjoying one another’s company when we all went out to lunch. When we got back I felt as though I’d walked it home!

Make up is off, pj’s are on and we’ve just had a sandwich. I think I’ll put the kettle on now for a cuppa. Himself did a sterling job with the driving - there were a lot of wagons on the M6!

Sorry soop is still AWOL. Missing you already lady.

cornergran Wed 09-Jun-21 21:33:44

More Wi-fi buggerations are not what you need soop, Hope you’re back with us soon.

A hug for panache and her husband, such a difficult time.

Will love to see photos yiayia, although our touring van days are in the past reminders are very enjoyable. We had a cupboard designated for wine grin.

Mr C seems to have come out in sympathy with mya today muse, he says he’s better now, fingers firmly crossed for them both.

Just discovered the ants and black fly have found our runner bean plants, for goodness sake, battle will commence tomorrow

Sleep well everyone, thinking of you all, special thoughts for our sad Kitcheners. .

brook2704 Wed 09-Jun-21 21:39:23

Grrrrrr hopefully you’re back with us soon soop how frustrating ?
Enjoy your trip yia a caravan full of wine and gin sounds just about right! Please post your pictures I’m sure we’d all love to see them
I’ve been to the gym today for an Aquafit class - it sounds easy but my arms and shoulders are really feeling it now ?
I remembered to take a few pictures of my garden earlier to share in the kitchen - I think things flower quite a bit later up here in Inverness and the azaleas and rhododendrons are still in bloom.
Sending ? and support to panache and thanks for the update Doodle

Galen Wed 09-Jun-21 22:34:56

Inverness! Isn’t that in ultima Thule?
Off the edge of the civilised map !
According to the Romans anyway!

Lins1066 Wed 09-Jun-21 22:52:21

Every time I pop into the Kitchen lately soop has internet problems, so annoying for you both. As has been said, it isn't the same without you.
Panache you and your DH are in my thoughts ? thank you for the update Doodle, best wishes to you and Mr Doodle.

muse Wed 09-Jun-21 23:11:36

Thank you Doodle for the news from Panache. A big step in the right direction for her and MrP.

Beautiful colours Brook2704.

brook2704 Thu 10-Jun-21 06:39:51

? Galen it’s definitely a long way up north depending where you’re starting from!

Baggs Thu 10-Jun-21 14:28:42

Latest message from Soop is that an engineer will come NEXT Monday. I hope that doesn't mean a week on Monday!! The message also said "meltdown imminent."

BT seriously need to pull their socks up.

brook2704 Thu 10-Jun-21 15:02:12

How awful for soop but thanks for the update baggs even this Monday coming is far too long to wait and with no internet - I’m not surprised a meltdown is imminent, I’d feel the same too ☹️

Grandmabatty Thu 10-Jun-21 15:08:34

Thank you for updating us Baggs . Please let Soop know that we miss her. I'm off to make macaroni cheese for a pregnant daughter who is craving a bowl. I'll make enough for me too. I always serve it with garlic bread, don't know why, but I'll leave some in the kitchen for anyone. I've had a pottering day. A walk to Aldi, then a bit of tidying then weeding etc. Nothing too strenuous as I've had a headache. It's been muggy and dull here.

GrannySomerset Thu 10-Jun-21 17:16:19

Strenuous day after getting up twice in the night to sort out DH and put him back to bed after falls; have seen three more stair lift companies and decided to go with a local company because we liked the boss (father and son set up) and prices more than competitive. The only draw back is the much longer lead time (four weeks at least compared with the 7 - 10 days quoted by others). Having insisted this expensive purchase is not something he needs, DH is now anxiously awaiting its arrival. Could be a long four weeks!

Jaxjacky Thu 10-Jun-21 19:18:41

Hi all, cloud most of the day and it got quite humid. How come ‘we’ can set up télécoms around the world, into space, in moving vehicles but not soop, disgraceful, thanks for updates Baggs
A bitty day today, faffed about, weeding at home, then up to water both my allotment and my friends, I’ve decided our shower is now too hot, so a play with that tomorrow, carefully. Hope your trip is going well Yia.
GrannySomerset hopefully when it’s installed, the stair life will back life a little easier, I hope your DH has a quieter night tonight, broken sleep is no good, particularly for you.
My friend just popped round with a thank you card and wine for organising her birthday cake on Tuesday, she said it was her best birthday ever. I’m taking her out to lunch tomorrow for lunch, then I’m going to have my nose cauterised, joyful not!
Have a gentle evening all.

maddyone Thu 10-Jun-21 19:20:29

Afternoon ladies. I hear Soop is having internet problems. Hopefully it’ll soon be sorted.
I’ve got a horrible cold, caught from my delightful son who shares everything he has. I’ve declined to go to see my mum, who is 93, as I don’t want to pass it on. So I had a boring day lying around with a streaming nose, and wasting time on Gransnet.

Doodle Thu 10-Jun-21 19:32:48

Just a quick visit from me tonight.
I have been in contact with dear Panache and told her how so many of you are sending your best wishes.
Panache has asked me to thank you all and to tell you how grateful they are for your thoughts and prayers. Also to you Izabella who sent me a message to pass on.
Panache is allowed 3 /4 of an hour daily to be with her DH. Mr P has no hearing at all, his vision badly affected but he does his best to smile every day.

Such sad news. I know how many of you care for this dear lady and her husband who have been through so much.

ixion Thu 10-Jun-21 19:36:45

Three quarters of an hour daily Doodle?
This cannot be??

annodomini Thu 10-Jun-21 19:43:23

I was in Macclesfield this morning, shopping with a friend. Got home, heard on the NW news on the BBC that Macc residents had been told to get PCR tests because there's been a big increase in Covid cases recently in Cheshire East which is our council district I don't think either my friend or I should be too worried as we're both doubly vaxxed, but I may decide not to be too close to a very vulnerable friend until I can be sure I'm not carrying the virus.
Apart from that, quite a good day. Overcast and humid. The house felt so hot this morning that I had to check that the heating wasn't on. It wasn't. It was disappointing that I couldn't see the sun having a bite taken out of it. Even a partial eclipse is of interest.
Poor soop, Is it BT Openreach that is supposed to sort things out? I've heard that they're less than competent - might have been on TV Watchdog. Let's hope they finally pull themselves together and do a proper job this time.
