I predicted Lilibet on another thread on 31st May.

Not bragging or anything.

To be known as ‘Lili’ apparently.

I feel very uncomfortable about it on several levels to be honest. Having said that I’m glad it was a safe delivery and the baby is healthy.

As this thread covers matters royal, does anyone know if there now comes a public congratulations announcement from the Queen or from Prince Charles on this side of the Atlantic?

Whatever the name, we know from GN threads that not all grandparents like their DGC names, or would have chosen them.
I like the name Lilibet and I’m glad they’re shortening that rather than shortening her second name.
The birth is safely over ?. Let’s hope they take/ are given this opportunity to avoid the limelight for a while.

How lovely that the Sussexes now have a baby daughter, and that mother and baby are doing well.

I think Lilibet Diana is a good choice. Lily is a perfect name for a little girl, I have two great nieces with that name. Both are beautiful, intelligent and multi talented obviously

It's a very pretty name. And I do like the idea of family names being passed down through the generations. Even if all those Williams and Marys have caused me no end of trouble with the family tree I'm researching.

That was my initial reaction. Wasn’t it the name Princess Margaret called the Queen? Fine to christen her Lili but call her Lilibet in private but not a name for the whole world to use. It’s too private/too personal for me especially as the Queen is dignity personified.

Lilibet, the Queen’s childhood nickname is pretty and under normal circumstances it would have been a lovely touching tribute to the baby’s great grandmother, but these are not normal circumstances.

Since they left Harry and his wife have behaved appallingly, first with the spiteful Winfrey interview, followed by other unpleasant accusations to the media from a petulant Prince Harry.

Somehow the choice of name seems, well incongruous.

Perhaps they want to assure the Queen they have forgiven her
for heading a family which is racist, refused treatment for poor
Megan when feeling suicidal, not asking Megan is she was ok,
not giving Archie a title. Not paying for security, forcing Harry to walk behind his mothers coffin, not supporting him in his
grief, what a noble couple !

So they run the family down then name the newborn after gm.
Someones worrried about titles and inheritance imo.
And i am allowed an opinion btw.

I agree with JenniferEccles. This was a childhood nickname for the Queen, so it seems far too personal to me. Lili on the other hand is lovely. Given the heartache and pain Harry and Meghan’s must have caused to the Queen with their recent behaviour, I think choosing to use the Queen’s personal nickname, used only by her closest family, her parents, sister, and husband (although I think he also called her Cabbage) then I think it rather presumptuous. The Queen is far too dignified to express an opinion though.

The sad thing in all of this is that the royal family must be so afraid to mutter anything the Sussex’s positive or not for fear that it will be misinterpreted and/or shared. So sad ?

Nothing against the name as i called my own daughter Lilybeth as a tribute to the Queen after Diana died. I felt QE2 had been unfairly treated. So i have no right to criticise.
But it feels a bit of a peetake to me after all the grief they are causing!
I have just put in the family Whatsapp group that they have no shame! Nice tribute to Great Grandma.
Harry must now be like Wilhelm was when Queen Victoria was alive - the nephew/cousin they all want to slap.

Yawn, they've dissed our Royal Family, called into question HMQ's parenting skills and have the brass neck to use royal name for their daughter. The only reason I am click bait is to see what daft things they do next.
