Reading through so many threads, I see fine knitters, seamstresses, artists, potters, crafters, cake decorators...
Then I thought- 'how would I answer this?'. Sadly decided I was a Jack Of All Trades bur passable in only a few.

Do you have a special talent?
Forget the modesty and share!

Singing, painting my face, writing poems and making up children’s stories on the spot. Wish I had written down all the bedtime stories I made up over the years.
The big surprise was being told by a friend after first try out at his rifle range that I was a good shot and should join a club.
Not for me, I used to have a very short wick and there would have been a few corpses around?

My special talent is being a magician. I can make a packet of Jaffa Cakes disappear in about 20 minutes.

I could always draw and my family and school assumed I’d go to art college. I used to say, “It’s just a knack. I can draw anything but I don’t want to.”
I married someone else with arty ability and one of our children followed us and has made their career in art.

I cross stitch and have made some pretty neat things. I'm also the one who puts the IKEA furniture together in our house.

In addition, I have a talent for identifying very nice mogs grin

WOW.

My sons, when young, thought that I had a superpower, never mind a talent. They could be in a completely different part of our home, yet I would know instantly (and call out "you can stop that right now", or something similar) if they were suddenly up to mischief.

Of course, now they have children of their own, they know that their sudden silence was a dead giveaway, and I'm just a normal mum! grin

Oh, and I could always hear the sound of a biscuit tin being sneakily opened,

I can provide nice squishy bits for the DGC to prod and pinch and cuddle up to.

DiscoDancer1975 Fri 18-Jun-21 12:15:47

Opening my mouth before engaging brain my husband says. It’s always worked well for me though!?

Knitting and stopping a gransnet thread dead!
LadyGracie That's not a special talent! hmm
Years and years ago it was common to see ladies knitting whilst sitting by the side of the guillotine!; they go together!
Also years and years ago you told us how much you hated euphemisms for matters medical, but I think of threads as having "been laid to rest" or "passed on" grin

I can tell Bible stories to 100 children in a school assembly or 30 children in a toddler group and they all sit and listen without wriggling. And I absolutely love it!

i am good at organising, my family always had get togethers with buffets, i could get everything sorted in a couple of hours, another weird one is i am not keen on children, i had one son who i love to bits, i was the one who was handed the crying baby and told to change them, they always fell silent.....maybe they could sense my bossy no nonsense nature...lol

My almost unique talents include, delighting my grandchildren with my cheesy pasta bake, watching tv, procrastination, crossword puzzles and other things which do not include memory retention!

Granartisan Thu 17-Jun-21 20:23:52

Like many others on here I have dabbled in most crafts, but my main hobby is writing. Most of the results remain in my computer. I have had numerous short stories published but claiming a talent is overstating it!

I’m a fairly good photographer. I wish I’d tried it when I was younger, but, like lots of people, I didn’t have a camera.

Savvy Thu 17-Jun-21 20:00:55

I can glass engrave. I found out by accident at an exhibition when a glass engraver asked me if I'd like to try it. I did a few small shapes and squiggles on the glass and he said that he was surprised I hasn't engraved before as the cycle I'd perfectly engraved was the hardest shape to get right.

I'm told I appear calm and in control, even when things are going wrong. If only those people could see inside my head at the time, they might think differently!
