Good Morning Friday
(65 Posts)Good morning, Mick (Perhaps a chat with your GP is needed?) from an overcast but warm Torbay.
Yesterday, after a dull then wet start, we had some beautiful sunshine which only appeared as I walked over the Downs. Planning on calling into my favourite hostelry for just a tonic water, I was tempted into having lunch there! The special was a freshly caught Brixham filet of plaice cooked in lemon juice. Superb! One photo is the view from my table there, with the other (of a busy bee) being from the holiday home site.
Wishing everyone sunshine of some kind today along with my gratitude for your caring support yesterday over my disappointment. ?
Good morning from a grey, cool (yay!) E Kent. There is a light mist at the moment and it is unusually very still.
The garden has so enjoyed its drenching - so have the weeds, there is now a small forest of bindweed!
Bedding to wash today. DS1 is off to Deal to lunch with one of his school friends, DS2 is off work and lunching with us. He will probably bring some of the last cutting of asparagus. The season runs from St. George’s day to Midsummer day.
Marydoll, I have not only a spare bed/room but the Open starts soon for your DH to leave you alone..
I had to borrow this book fro the library yesterday!
May today bring relief and contentment to all my lovely GraMmingos. ???☀️??
Good morning Mick, morning all from South Lanarkshire where we have a beautiful clear blue sky.
Gorgeous photos Ash, I love watching the bees going about their busyness.
Friday again! Where does the week go. Swanky charity shop day today for me.
DH has an early appointment to collect a new hearing aid, I cannot wait. Several years ago he paid a lot of money for a pair of aids which he never got on with but instead of persevering with them he threw them into a drawer in disgust. My repeated suggestions that he may have to go back to have them tweaked fell on deaf ears. Literally. Such a waste of money, let’s hope the NHS one is more successful.
Wishing everyone the best day possible. ??
Good morning Mick and all who follow from sunny Sefton.
Noticed kite flying on the beach yesterday morning. Pic of the massive octopus and one of the three arrows taken on my phone will be posted shortly. Spent the afternoon with friends, one to become a first time gran after Christmas.
Today gardening and general pottering on the agenda. Later an order from our local Indian take away will be enjoyed while watching the game with family.
Thinking of missing posters, Cherry, Auntieflo and Blossoming (may time fly to tomorrow evening for you).
Sending a smile and the sighting of a flamingo.
?????
Ooh I like Kate Atkinson but haven’t read that one gM, let us know if it’s good.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is looking like a good day ahead.
I am off to Whitby this morning for three days and DH has revealed that we are actually staying in some new places rather than staying in Whitby for the three days.
Saltburn on Sea and Staithes. They both look beautiful and I am excited to go.
I do hope you all find a smile today and see that Friday Girl on your travels??
Good morning Mick and all who follow from the Black country. Weather muggy again but yesterday turned out really sunny so perhaps the same again today.
Ash lovely photos once again and that meal sounds delicious.
Meeting friends later.
Enjoy your day and may you all find some ?.
Good Morning all from Severnside where it’s overcast. Do you feel anxious going out Mick?
What a lovely lunch view Ash. Mine was Doctors on tv, quite different ?
Off to do my weekly shop and hope I remember cooking apples so I can make SOAP.
After yesterday’s crafting day with my new papers and dies I think I’ll have another. It’s time consuming choosing the paper or card you want to use but nice to come across something I’ve forgotten I had.
Go for GB Sewing Bee Scentia. Even thinking about that for myself my confidence is a no no let alone applying.
Have a good day all ?
Good morning Mick and all from a very wet S Hants. It’s chucking it down, woke us at 5 and is set in for the day, of course it is, new furniture being delivered this morning! I’m off to the butcher first, burgers and chicken skewers ordered for family bbq tomorrow., grocery delivery after lunch, it’s all go today. Then, a rather important football match this evening, MrJ will watch it in our local, I’ll head home and watch it in peace.
That’s a lovely view Ashcombe I can understand your lunch temptation too, I’d have succumbed.
Have a lovely Friday all, maybe news from absent Gramingoes today. ??
?????????????? May the best team win…….
Morning Mick and all from a dull West Yorks.
Yes Mick I feel your body is telling you to take a slower pace.Does your GP ask you to keep reference of these occasions for insight into treatment/cause.
Do wish I could train myself into a good sleep pattern, all over the place just now.Suffering with sciatica for past weeks and the meds knock me out early evening so awake at 5 a.m.Nothing much exciting today only weekly trip to supermarket which in itself is an outing after a year of click/collect.Any views on email from Gov. regarding data supplied to supermarkets to gain priority during Covid.Havent read it thoroughly yet but worries me after reading GPs share info,Gov depts share info,Banks, insurance, etc etc. Feel as though my private life is no longer .
Dentist went well yest. with nothing to do after a good 18mths. My extra thorough routine during covid working well.Noted he doesnt want to see us for 12mths.Is this due to expected workload now service has resumed.Remember did this a few yrs ago when service overstretched .
Good morning all from a very wet (as promised) north Surrey.
Lovely pictures Ash
Had a lovely few hours with DGD1 yesterday, she is 9 months now, crawling and pulling herself up. I had lots of smiles and cuddles and she snuggles into your neck when she is tired, wonderful. I have been reflecting on how lucky I am to have such a close relationship with all my grandchildren.
Thank you for all your best wishes for our wedding anniversary yesterday. We will have a “special” meal today to celebrate. We are shopping after school run. I saw some furniture the other day so want DH to have a look. Have some exchanges to do of trousers I bought (so annoying that you can’t try things on still). A visit to the big M&S food store to get provisions for our dinner and then pop to mum and dad with present and card for Father’s Day as I am working all weekend. Will take my cleaner with me.
Big football match this evening, not sure I will make it to the end as need to be up early for work.
Wishing all a happy Friday ????
Kites
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a lovely sunny and dry start to the day. Yesterday was another gorgeous day, we’ve been so lucky with the weather recently.
Lovely pictures Ash and so pleased you treated yourself to lunch out, I really admire that you enjoy doing these things on your own, well done you.
Love the book GM no wonder it caught your eye ?
Today I’m so much looking forward to visiting DD1 and family and staying a few days. Not sure what’s planned yet but it’ll be mostly outdoors I think with the DGS.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, even just something small and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Morning Mick and all
It’s still raining in S E Essex ☔️☔️☔️
We have the Imp today, so pretty busy. This evening we are going to our favourite Thai Restaurant which I am really looking forward to.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning from still sunny Shropshire.I’m sure the rain will be on it’s way!
Today we are going down to West Wales to see my in laws.FIL is failing to the extent where he can no longer use his legs so carers have started coming in this week. Its all very sad.He is still talkative though and very excited to see DH this afternoon.
Cherry and Lins I will wave across the estuary to you when we arrive??
Wishing Urms a safe journey.I think it is twice as long as our journey today?
Thinking of all our missing friends, all unwell and recovering and all with worries.
Have a good day all??
Good Morning Mick. Yes, take things steady and at your own pace.
Thought I'd not be amongst the tail-end Charlies today since I woke early and am determined to get ahead before it becomes too warm.
Lunch out yesterday was enormous fun. Bit weird for us since we'd not eaten out for such a long time but what a joy to sit and wait for delicious food which has required no input from me or mine.
Have just lifted some potatoes in a big tub. So pleased with the results. It always seems a miracle to me that such wonderful new potatoes can grow from one little wrinkly one but that's Nature. These will be sampled today - cooked with a large sprig of mint and then served with a knob of unsalted butter , Haven't had potatoes for a while. My favourites are Estima, nice waxy ones but you can't get them in France.
Have a good trip, brook, something lovely to look forward to!
A little jaunt to the coast sounds good, NanKate - enjoy it. You too, Aly - safe journey. Bet you feel refreshed by your trip, Nannytopsy. I saw some friends yesterday, corner. Doesn't it lift your spirits? Sad that your friend's health is not good though.
Looking forward to more trips out and about with friends, but as you say Susan, all that interaction is surprisingly tiring. Maybe due to the amount of catching up needed. Hope your patio person turned up and got on with it, Pitt and let's have an update on The Abyss, muse. What energy and determination you have, I'm in awe.
Grandmajean hope all is now back to normal with your little GC. Nasty scare for you I should imagine. It's great that you're back to regular walking and socialising, Blue - I'm surprised those lovely cats don't insist on coming with you. On leads, of course, or in a handy pet carrier? Don't let Urms hear you calling yourself a slacker, stilllearning.
Lovely to see you posting, Laura. Sounds like you're both turning into Capability Browns. Bet you garden looks so good. Problem is with builders is that they really do play havoc with a garden. You're so right about workmen, Nannagarra - sometimes I've wondered if they really want to earn money at all.
B9 is your restaurant called "FoodForAll" by any chance? What a hostess you must be with all those different demands. I was so impressed with your Yorkshires, by the way.
Don't let him gaslight you over the Emerald Green Velvet Sofa, Scentia. If he has no recall of the agreement, maybe buy it and when he points to it in shock, just deny its existence? Worth a try.
Gwen enjoy your next week of busyness. Enjoy yourself.
Oh Dusty....just as well French meals don't offer big portions. Did you have to take days to digest the two dinners - a bit like a snake?
Be good to hear if you liked the Kate Atkinson, Grandmattie. Glad the weather is cooler for you.
Lots of warm wishes coming your way, Cherry and Auntiflo. Feel better soon, Party. Sciatica is dire!
I'm off for breakfast and a swim. Have a terrific day, if you're able everyone. If not, grab that Flamingo and go off on at least one small flight of fancy today. (Flamingo Airlines are always running and no masks, tests or quarantine needed.)
Take care. Big hugs from French France ??♀️?
And for Yiayia : Slapton Sands is so pretty but has a dark and sad past. When the locals were moved out and practising took place with the American soldiers ahead of the Normandy Landings and, specifically, Utah Beach, hundreds were slaughtered (some by their Allies) or drowned due to a radio mixup between ships. The facts and the deaths (more than the losses on Utah Beach in the actual conflict) were covered up for years.
‘I’m off for breakfast and a swim’…
I’ll join you later Grandmafrench in our back garden…apparently we’re getting a month’s worth of rain today! There are some days I really miss France…
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s warm again. All ready for my weekend away. It seems a few of us are travelling this morning. Safe journey everyone.
Scientia Saltburn is a regular walking spot for me. My friend lives in Redcar just up the coast from there. The beach is beautiful. I’ll see if I can find a photo. Staithes is very picturesque.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe
Good morning Mick and All from a very soggy Southbourne/Bournemouth.
Settled into our neighbour’s ‘almost’ sea view apartment. If I was a few feet taller I could see the sea ?. We had a bit of a traumatic arrival as we set off the flat alarm which was piercing and it took like an age to switch off by phoning our neighbour who talked us through the procedure but then we couldn’t switch it on to go out. We will phone the Alarm people first thing to see if we can set it as the written instructions don’t work !!
We have wall to wall rain today, thankfully I have booked tickets for the Oceanarium. Heyho it’s a change of scene and a kind offer of our neighbour to let us stay. DH said he was missing feeding the birds ??
I shall now go and try and work out how to cook my porridge in the high tech microwave.
Wow Nannagarra, what an amazing photo! Morning all from south Cornwall, where the sky is cotton-wooly and there's a lovely breeze on my patio. Am itching to go out and take on the world but must stay put for the district nurse to come and remove my staples.
My eldest son and I giggled and giggled yesterday. Due to Covid hitting his business he is a part-time taxi driver. The stories he can tell... especially about inebriated passengers with Covid conspiracy theories.
Mick, take care, please don't ignore your 'blips'.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning everyone from a very wet Essex by the sea. The only upside is that the humidity is gone.
Proud nanny boast coming up.
My 5 year old granddaughter entered a writing/drawing competition at her Infant school and won first prize for the children in Reception. She has won a book token . The class teacher was so excited to tell my daughter yesterday and says they will be celebrating in class today ???.
DH is off to his boat again and I have ironing and admin to do today plus there is a very important football match to watch this evening.
Brook safe journey and enjoy your visit.
Have the best Friday you can everyone xxx
