Good morning, Michael and all GNs. It’s overcast in South Yorkshire but it’s not raining yet. We are booked to go for a swim this afternoon - the first since before Covid hit us, when we used to go regularly. Whether it will be worth all the palaver trying to get a time slot remains to be seen. All these folks heading off to the seaside are making me slightly beach envious, but enjoy it, all of you.
Have a good day, folks.

Have a nap after before watching TV .
Yesterday , went well although at one point had a minor heart situ, came over in a sweat , but bus home , got in relaxed , must learn to take things staedy now.
Mick
Good morning from a sunny (do I feel a nip in the air?) east coast of Fife I’m getting excited for the day ahead, an early lunch with friends in the beautiful town of st Andrews however it’s debatable whether it’ll be inside or outside, followed by a good nap getting ready for that important football game on tv where no doubt I’ll be hearing himself cursing swearing and shouting from afar.
The flags outside the house should get many aroused.
Good morning all. How lovely of you to remember my grandson's illness Grandmafrench ! He is not completely recovered ( not eating a lot ) but had a kick around with a football yesterday so a good sign ! He and little sister come here for tea on a Friday and he's keen to come today so hope my home made lasagne will tempt him.
Have a great break , Scentia I love Whitby. Haven't stayed there but have done day trips from other holiday places. Bustling town .
Trip to Waitrose this morning for a few bits and to return a Boden dress which made me look like my granny !
Good morning Mick and all his followers. Lots more heavy rain overnight here in Suffolk and lots more to come. The grass and weeds are growing.
I have a mountain of ironing but my Tesco order didn’t have my much needed deionised water. I have already bought one new iron since we moved to this very hard water area and I am trying to make it last. I shall send DH to the local garage, I think.
I hope those of you on trips and visiting families have a fabulous weekend.
Marydoll - just breathe!
Good morning from rainy Colchester. The weather put the kybosh on the building of our new patio and the guy has just turned up to apologise that he's not going to be able to do anything today as the forecast is awful. At least we won't be needing to sit outside!!
We are test driving new cars this morning and watching the football this evening.
Much love to all x
Arrrgh just had a text message our boat trip is cancelled because of the weather! Plan B for today whatever that is. ?
Grandmabatty, I love that word thrawn. My mother was exactly the same! I can empathise!
Good morning from an overcast NE.
DD is going to visit this afternoon so I sent her a shopping list of all my favourites from Aldi. We don't know how long DD will be able to stay in the UK but it cost her an arm and a leg in testing and inconvenience to get here.
DH had a quiet day in bed after Wednesday's chemo, five days of injections in his tummy start again today.
Still no sign of nurse who promised to visit next week three weeks ago
Wonderful news of your DGD Sar53. Top of the class!
Good morning all. Polmont is sunny again which is very nice. Marydoll and Baubles I sympathise about hearing aids. In my case it's my mother who has hearing aids but won't use them so every conversation has to be shouted and she frequently misunderstands what's been said then goes into thrawn mode. Brooke have a lovely time with your family. Grandmafrench an early morning swim sounds blissful.
Today I'm babysitting for an hour or so as dd has a hospital appointment. Then I'm heading out for lunch to friends. I haven't seen these particular friends for well over a year because of the pandemic. It'll be lovely to catch up. Then it'll be home and pottering. Have a good day all.
Good morning from a wet Norfolk. We are packing this morning and are moving on to Great Yarmouth. But first we have a boat trip booked to hopefully see some seals. Presumably they won’t be fazed by the rain.
Yesterday’s trip to Wallsingham didn’t go as planned as the little train wasn’t running there because of Covid restrictions??? It was just doing a circular round to the next village. Fortunately the timing was right for us to catch a bus.
Enjoy Whitby and the surrounding area Scentia.
Ashcombe are you able to get over to France now rehearsals are on hold?
Hope Cherry is ok and all other missing posters.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?
Good morning Mick and early risers. Hope today goes as planned here. Four lots of people today. ?for the building inspection. Order for teas will be huge. Mugs are lined up ready. MrM has the big kettle on.
Will be back to read everything. ????for everybody.
I meant to say, Have a safe journey Brook !
Mick I get those episodes frequently, they can be scary, to say the least. Perhaps have a word with your GP, just in case your meds need adjusted.
Good morning Mick and all. I don't want to rain on your parade, but we have sunshine here this morning! It makes a rare change to be able to say that!
Today the conservatory carnage continues. I escaped toddled off to Morrisons yesterday to get away from it all, only to return to find the house had been ransacked!
DH had totally emptied the room, (absolutely no need, it's a large and spacious room) and piled everything in to the dining room and the utility room. Access to both doors into the dining room had been blocked and the only way out of the conservatory was round the garden and back in through the utility room. ) However, as he had dumped things there too, it was like negotiating an obstacle course. I couldn't even access the washing machine. (He never thought it through!) ?
Things went downhill after that My tongue is raw, from biting it for so long and trying not to explode!
However, as men do, he made me feel extremely guilty later , by doing something unexpected, which knocked me totally off kilter.
I was getting on with things, muttering about looking for a divorce, when the doorbell rang. It was the postman with a large parcel. As a surprise, DH had bought me the gilet I had been thinking of buying, but really didn't need! They are clever at discombobulating you that way, aren't they!
?
Before going to bed, I found him wandering in and out of all the downstairs rooms, looking for something.
Me: What's wrong?
DH: I've lost my phone.
Me: Where did you last see it?
DH: I can't remember.
Me: I will ring it.
DH It's on silent.
Me: Why? What if I take ill when I'm out on my own?. (When the lorry ran into my car, he couldn't be contacted, so I worry.)
DH: I don't want to be disturbed when I'm busy. Just phone the house phone!"
Me: You won't be able to answer it in time, because you will be trapped in the b***Iy conservatory!!!!.
DH: Silence!
He went to look upstairs, insisting it must be there. After, moving stuff, climbing onto a chair, (it wasn't easy, I can tell you), I found it on the dining table, under piles of stuff. It was actually switched off and it turned out to be flat as well! What is the point of having a phone, if it is switched off?
No-one ever phones me. said DH ?
I'm off out to get more silicone filler and a gun. (Not to shoot him, but to replace the silicone gun, he has lost!) I may book into a hotel and hide there until it's all over. Then again, taking myself upstairs with a very large bar of chocolate and indulging in my Chinese soap operas, (complete with sub titles) may be a better option!
I have managed to get someone to come out this afternoon to give a quote for new blinds in the conservatory. After the new doors were put in, the blinds don't fit. That will not be easy. DH thinks everything still costs a fiver! It's a miracle I got someone, as tradesmen and building materials seem to be in really short supply at the moment.
Baubles, I really sympathise about the hearing aids. DH will not accept he has a problem. My DIL tested his hearing a few years ago and he had moderate hearing loss. However, his hearing has really deteriorated a lot in the last year and he refuses to accept that there is a problem. It drives me to distraction and causes so many misunderstandings. He has turned into his father, both in looks and stubborness. My late FIL, (whom I loved dearly) had a saying, when anyone disagreed with him. There will be no discussion about this!.
For Blossoming, our Cherry, Auntieflo* and anyone else who needs our support. ?
Have a good day folks, I don't expect I will! ?
I plan to escape into the garden to soothe my troubled soul. Well, not really! The weeds have thrived on all the recent rain, so I will take my annoyance and frustration out on them!
Take care everyone, numbers are rising steadily here, so I am off out early to avoid people! This taste of freedom is quite intoxicating, after being incarcerated for so long!
Good morning everyone from a very wet Essex by the sea. The only upside is that the humidity is gone.
Proud nanny boast coming up.
My 5 year old granddaughter entered a writing/drawing competition at her Infant school and won first prize for the children in Reception. She has won a book token . The class teacher was so excited to tell my daughter yesterday and says they will be celebrating in class today ???.
DH is off to his boat again and I have ironing and admin to do today plus there is a very important football match to watch this evening.
Brook safe journey and enjoy your visit.
Have the best Friday you can everyone xxx
Wow Nannagarra, what an amazing photo! Morning all from south Cornwall, where the sky is cotton-wooly and there's a lovely breeze on my patio. Am itching to go out and take on the world but must stay put for the district nurse to come and remove my staples.
My eldest son and I giggled and giggled yesterday. Due to Covid hitting his business he is a part-time taxi driver. The stories he can tell... especially about inebriated passengers with Covid conspiracy theories.
Mick, take care, please don't ignore your 'blips'.
Have the best day you can everyone.
Good morning Mick and All from a very soggy Southbourne/Bournemouth.
Settled into our neighbour’s ‘almost’ sea view apartment. If I was a few feet taller I could see the sea ?. We had a bit of a traumatic arrival as we set off the flat alarm which was piercing and it took like an age to switch off by phoning our neighbour who talked us through the procedure but then we couldn’t switch it on to go out. We will phone the Alarm people first thing to see if we can set it as the written instructions don’t work !!
We have wall to wall rain today, thankfully I have booked tickets for the Oceanarium. Heyho it’s a change of scene and a kind offer of our neighbour to let us stay. DH said he was missing feeding the birds ??
I shall now go and try and work out how to cook my porridge in the high tech microwave.
Good morning from North Yorkshire. It’s warm again. All ready for my weekend away. It seems a few of us are travelling this morning. Safe journey everyone.
Scientia Saltburn is a regular walking spot for me. My friend lives in Redcar just up the coast from there. The beach is beautiful. I’ll see if I can find a photo. Staithes is very picturesque.
Have a good day everyone. Stay safe
‘I’m off for breakfast and a swim’…
I’ll join you later Grandmafrench in our back garden…apparently we’re getting a month’s worth of rain today! There are some days I really miss France…
And for Yiayia : Slapton Sands is so pretty but has a dark and sad past. When the locals were moved out and practising took place with the American soldiers ahead of the Normandy Landings and, specifically, Utah Beach, hundreds were slaughtered (some by their Allies) or drowned due to a radio mixup between ships. The facts and the deaths (more than the losses on Utah Beach in the actual conflict) were covered up for years.
Good Morning Mick. Yes, take things steady and at your own pace.
Thought I'd not be amongst the tail-end Charlies today since I woke early and am determined to get ahead before it becomes too warm.
Lunch out yesterday was enormous fun. Bit weird for us since we'd not eaten out for such a long time but what a joy to sit and wait for delicious food which has required no input from me or mine.
Have just lifted some potatoes in a big tub. So pleased with the results. It always seems a miracle to me that such wonderful new potatoes can grow from one little wrinkly one but that's Nature. These will be sampled today - cooked with a large sprig of mint and then served with a knob of unsalted butter , Haven't had potatoes for a while. My favourites are Estima, nice waxy ones but you can't get them in France.
Have a good trip, brook, something lovely to look forward to!
A little jaunt to the coast sounds good, NanKate - enjoy it. You too, Aly - safe journey. Bet you feel refreshed by your trip, Nannytopsy. I saw some friends yesterday, corner. Doesn't it lift your spirits? Sad that your friend's health is not good though.
Looking forward to more trips out and about with friends, but as you say Susan, all that interaction is surprisingly tiring. Maybe due to the amount of catching up needed. Hope your patio person turned up and got on with it, Pitt and let's have an update on The Abyss, muse. What energy and determination you have, I'm in awe.
Grandmajean hope all is now back to normal with your little GC. Nasty scare for you I should imagine. It's great that you're back to regular walking and socialising, Blue - I'm surprised those lovely cats don't insist on coming with you. On leads, of course, or in a handy pet carrier? Don't let Urms hear you calling yourself a slacker, stilllearning.
Lovely to see you posting, Laura. Sounds like you're both turning into Capability Browns. Bet you garden looks so good. Problem is with builders is that they really do play havoc with a garden. You're so right about workmen, Nannagarra - sometimes I've wondered if they really want to earn money at all.
B9 is your restaurant called "FoodForAll" by any chance? What a hostess you must be with all those different demands. I was so impressed with your Yorkshires, by the way.
Don't let him gaslight you over the Emerald Green Velvet Sofa, Scentia. If he has no recall of the agreement, maybe buy it and when he points to it in shock, just deny its existence? Worth a try.
Gwen enjoy your next week of busyness. Enjoy yourself.
Oh Dusty....just as well French meals don't offer big portions. Did you have to take days to digest the two dinners - a bit like a snake?
Be good to hear if you liked the Kate Atkinson, Grandmattie. Glad the weather is cooler for you.
Lots of warm wishes coming your way, Cherry and Auntiflo. Feel better soon, Party. Sciatica is dire!
I'm off for breakfast and a swim. Have a terrific day, if you're able everyone. If not, grab that Flamingo and go off on at least one small flight of fancy today. (Flamingo Airlines are always running and no masks, tests or quarantine needed.)
Take care. Big hugs from French France ??♀️?
Good morning from still sunny Shropshire.I’m sure the rain will be on it’s way!
Today we are going down to West Wales to see my in laws.FIL is failing to the extent where he can no longer use his legs so carers have started coming in this week. Its all very sad.He is still talkative though and very excited to see DH this afternoon.
Cherry and Lins I will wave across the estuary to you when we arrive??
Wishing Urms a safe journey.I think it is twice as long as our journey today?
Thinking of all our missing friends, all unwell and recovering and all with worries.
Have a good day all??
Morning Mick and all
It’s still raining in S E Essex ☔️☔️☔️
We have the Imp today, so pretty busy. This evening we are going to our favourite Thai Restaurant which I am really looking forward to.
Keep safe and well folks ?♀️?
Good morning everyone from Inverness where it’s a lovely sunny and dry start to the day. Yesterday was another gorgeous day, we’ve been so lucky with the weather recently.
Lovely pictures Ash and so pleased you treated yourself to lunch out, I really admire that you enjoy doing these things on your own, well done you.
Love the book GM no wonder it caught your eye ?
Today I’m so much looking forward to visiting DD1 and family and staying a few days. Not sure what’s planned yet but it’ll be mostly outdoors I think with the DGS.
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today, even just something small and take care all whatever the day brings ?
