Celebs That You Rather Like, Actually?

Hello Everyone! ?

As a companion thread to nanna8's 'irrational dislikes on sight'.

Who, in the public eye, do you think comes across as rather a good egg?

Extra points if the celeb in question is usually found in the other camp
(is there anyone out there who actually likes Schofield or Holden??)

For me, it's Rylan Clarke-Neal.
I think that he is a TV natural, and he seems really warm and friendly.
I'd really like to be his mate.

So, which Celebs do you have a soft spot for, and why?

Thank you!

Casdon - re Angel, you're going to think I'm a right cow bag now, but here goes.
I think that she is fake and a fraud.
I think that her persona is extremely contrived.
She is a very good business woman, granted, and she has done very well with very little real artistic talent.
(Sorry! blush Please don't anyone come back and have a pop at me - we are all allowed our little moments of outspokenness!)

No pop from me, we knew her and her parents when they had a restaurant at the end of our road, I will say no more…

Dick Strawbridge was our AC’s Commanding Officer many years ago and a really nice man (not sure his ex-wife and children agree though)

I think an evening out with Janet Street-Porter and Christopher Biggins would be great fun!

You'd probably have roadkill on the menu, GrannyGravy!

A friend saw Christopher Biggins in a shop in Birmingham. She spoke to him and said he was friendly and jolly.

Shapa corsandi pretty and very very very funny
Miriam Margolyes a heart of gold and a very sane head ( forget her foul mouth)
Raj Bisram lovely chap , seemingly kind and positive man always smiling
Paul Martin seems a genuine bloke comes across as gentle

Can’t believe how many like that bumptious Clarkson and I agree about the Angel woman seems very fake
Never have seen any wow in Monty Don he’s ok but I don’t understand the appeal
Matt Hancock nottooold after today’s revelations are you still a fan

I’d be SO disappointed to hear that Biggins wasn’t lovely!

Oh forgot I really like Sarah Davies in Dragons den

DH read an article about Escape to the Chateau that said they were a nightmare to work with. She is, however, unbelievably creative.

I don't think Monty has the wow factor, Bluebelle, he just seems like a very pleasant and kind man.

MayBee70 Fri 25-Jun-21 18:29:14

I adore Deborah Meaden. I’ve never really watched Dragons Den but in recent years she has become very outspoken about current affairs.

NotTooOld Fri 25-Jun-21 18:29:23

'Fraid so, Bluebelle!

My cousin’s son has done electrical work for him and he says he is a lovely man.

Clare Balding. I wrote to her years ago and got a lovely letter back. I reckon I could just sit on a train next to her and have a jolly good chat. And her autobiography was lovely.

DillytheGardener Fri 25-Jun-21 18:43:12

Monty Don
Stephen Fry
Bill Bailey (loved him on strictly)
Joanna Lumley

Trying to think of someone that is Marmite that I like, perhaps Ant and Dec? My sons loathe them but DH and I enjoy their programmes ??‍♀️

BlueSky Fri 25-Jun-21 19:07:14

Joanna Lumley and Michael Portillo. Love their travel shows and would be very happy to be their assistant on those trips!

Tom Hanks comes across as a nice person and interviews well, of course one never really knows, but he seems like an all round good guy, I've near read anything bad about him.
Like everyone else Simon Reeve
Graham Norton
Grayson Perry
Joanna Lumley
I like Judy Finnegan and her sidekick Richard is fine, but I preferred her, she'd had enough of tv though!
Jo Coburn, when I went to the gym and got on the treadmill back in a previous life, I enjoyed watching her chair that politics show on BBC2 I thought she did it well.
Lee Mack for his razor sharp wit
George Alagiah and Rita Chakrabatti, Louise Minchin
Yes the lovely French man who played Baptise that someone else mentioned up thread
Nicola Walker (I'm going to miss her in The Unforgotten) but at least we will still have
Sanjeev Bhaskar
GoggleBox which I haven't watched for ages I loved Giles and Mary, The Siddiqui family, The late Leon and his wife June.
Michael Portillo, I want to be him and travel around the country on trains with a Bradshaw's tucked away somewhere!
Simon Schama, unique twitchy style of presenting, I love listening to his history programmes.
Timothy West and the lovely Prunella Scales
Dawn and Jennifer
The late George Michael for his kind philanthropy which he kept under wraps.
All the current Bake Off team, I know everyone hates Paul Hollywood but I'm quite ambivalent about him, the others, Prunella, Noel and Matt Lucas I really like.
I thought I liked Dick and Angel, but they seem to have blotted their copy book. Oh dear!

I've probably forgotten one or two.

I rather like her as well but she was rather rude about the jockey's teeth. All jovial and jocular but the poor chap did look embarrassed.

Ricky Gervais - I find him funny, but he has a love of animals and concerns about animal welfare
Davis Attenborough - a wonderful man
Paul Merton - witty
Jeremy Clarkson - I like his humour, loved him in Top Gear

Hellogirl1 Fri 25-Jun-21 22:01:21

Paul O`Grady
Joanna Lumley
Michael Palin
Julian Norton
Harry Secombe
Jo Brand
Matt Baker
Sidney Poitier
Charlie Williams
Craig Revel Horwood
Aljas Skorjanek
Ray Moore
Until certain revelations came to light, I would once upon a time have said
Rolf Harris
Cyril Smith
