Hello Everyone! ?

As a companion thread to nanna8's 'irrational dislikes on sight'.

Who, in the public eye, do you think comes across as rather a good egg?

Extra points if the celeb in question is usually found in the other camp
(is there anyone out there who actually likes Schofield or Holden??)

For me, it's Rylan Clarke-Neal.
I think that he is a TV natural, and he seems really warm and friendly.
I'd really like to be his mate.

So, which Celebs do you have a soft spot for, and why?

Thank you!

Clare Balding. I wrote to her years ago and got a lovely letter back. I reckon I could just sit on a train next to her and have a jolly good chat. And her autobiography was lovely.

I rather like her as well but she was rather rude about the jockey's teeth. All jovial and jocular but the poor chap did look embarrassed.

She was mortified about it and he ended up getting a new set of teeth. He didn’t bear her any grudges, but then he wasn’t the sort to do that any way. He sadly died last year.

I rather like Kathy Burke. She seems very down to earth.

MayBee I'd forgotten about CB and the teeth thing. It was awful wasn't it.
I didn't know that he'd died. How sad.

Kate yes, Kathy is a good shout.
She is very genuine. She was a favourite of my mom.

Helen Skelton
I'm fed up with seeing her name on the other thread. She's a very brave woman and there's nothing wrong with her accent.

I don't like Clare Balding. I think making comments about someone's physical appearance is unacceptable whether meant as a joke or not. I've got experience of this and it's not funny.

David Mitchell. I like his sense of humour.

FannyCornforth Sun 27-Jun-21 10:41:16

Kate Balding actually told him to show his teeth to the camera. It was horrible. I don't know what on earth she was thinking

SusieFlo I've read the DM is incredibly popular with women.
He gets loads of fan mail (or whatever the 21st century version of fan mail is...)

There are a few that I have a real soft spot for:
Bruce Willis
Jason Statham
Martin Kemp
Nicole Kidman
I just feel they're really nice, good, friendly people and if I were in a position to be having a dinner party with some celebs, these are the ones I would invite and I believe it would be the greatest night of my life.

Lorraine Kelly - she could be a neighbour, she's so natural.

Matt Baker, Will Kirk, Adam Henson, Martin Clunes. Like Alex Jones, even though she's not very popular on here, Kate Botley and Christine Walkden.

Shinamae Sun 27-Jun-21 11:04:47

The fabulous Joanna Lumley

Lesley60 Sun 27-Jun-21 11:05:28

I like Micheal Sheen he comes over as down to earth and hasn’t forgotten his roots

I can’t stand Alex Jones her shouty horrible voice goes through me and I’m Welsh

And I can’t stand Rylan I think he’s to camp and over exposed with no talent

jaylucy Sun 27-Jun-21 11:06:58

Matt Baker I could watch on every programme he is in!
He seems to be such a lovely caring man who is genuinely interested in anyone that he talks to and always happy to learn something new.

I detest most celebrities, as I feel they are over-paid, arrogant egomanics who are totally self-serving.

Tooyoungytobeagrandma Sun 27-Jun-21 11:15:36

Russell Howard he's funny and from what I've read a genuinely nice person. I've always quite like Clarkson and much more do sine his farm series ("9he loved his sheep). Love Noel Fitzpatrick sexy Irish voice and loves animals?. I also like Philip Schofield and Holly Willoughby together they make me laugh especially when one gets s fit of the giggles and the other can't hold it together I usually end up crying with laughter as well?

Lee Mac appeared to be intelligent and likeable when I saw him recently on TV. He is hilarious too!
A soft spot for Timothy Spall; he wrote once of having seen a small boy having a hard time with a nagging mother when he drove past them. He said the boy looked poor and unhappy, and he pulled to the side of the road and wept. I felt that someone with that much compassion for others must be a decent human being.

I think you're on the wrong thread songstress60 wink

PamSJ1 Sun 27-Jun-21 11:17:49

Agree about Rylan. Also Jason Manford who seems so down to earth Michael Ball, Paul O'Grady and Jane McDonald

Jess20 Sun 27-Jun-21 11:19:08

Mary Beard, a wonderful role model for women of every age.

Ed Sheeran. I love his music but more than that. He returns to his roots in Suffolk. He married a girl from his old school. He supports a Lego club at his past school, local charity shop, sponsors his football team, gifts significantly to the children’s provision at the local hospital. When he goes on tour, he employs his old school friends to look after various aspects. I have met his Mum. He was brought up in a lovely family and his fee5 are on the ground. His success has come from both talent and very hard work

Another vote here for Lisa Tarbuck. She's so funny and natural. I'd love to see or hear more from her
