The death of the comedian

I truly can’t find any comic shows worth watching on tv these days, or individual so called comedians, either. The young ones seem to be potty mouthed just for the sake of it ( and back in the day I had a few laughs at Billy Connolly because he actually was funny).

lee mack is quite left wing isnt he? grin

Yes I think that's a mix up surely.

I enjoy Curb Your Enthusiasm, it is very dry though one character is potty mouthed it isn’t a constant deluge. Also like Bill Bailey, and can vouch like another poster for Ghosts.

It wasn’t Lee Mack. I read the article where there was a picture of the comedian but I can’t remember his name.

I used to like Eddie Izzard but he has gone all fluidy.

Started watching "Meet the Richardsons" about married life for comedians Jon Richardson and Lucy Beaumont. It sometimes makes you squirm but it is very funny.

I know I’m living in the past but I still find Porridge and Open All Hours so funny.

I’m currently devouring everything by Greg Jenner. After listening to his podcasts I’m sending away for his books. The way he combines history with comedy in a slightly political way is my complete antidote to what’s happening in the world at the moment. He makes me laugh so much and completely lifts my spirit ( which is what comedy is all about).

Tracey Ullman!! Absolutely HILARIOUS!!! Love her sketches on Nicola sturgeon/Angela Merkel!!! She's still as funny witty and downright irreverand as she ever was she's just not on enough!
Detectorists.ghosts.Motherland.peter Kay carshare.still just dissolve when I see goodness gracious me!!.
The wit and sheer cleverness had all but disappeared from comedy. I saw Rob Beckett at local little theatre last gig befor lockdown and he was really funny I think he came across as so genuine and not trying to shock! Hilarious.

Oh and phoenix nights/max and Paddy.
Best females? Definitely the French and Saunders spoof movies!! Still nearly wet meself thinking about the Alien! And 'whatever happened to Baby Jane ' ones! Sheer genius. Ab fab, has no competition in my eyes too. Mostly started with the "Five go mad in Devon" and Girls on Top.genius.

There's something"off" about DW. I Remember Howard in Take That spoof being physically restrained by DW in the comedy routine-except I didn't think it remotely funny, Howard looked EXTREMELY uncomfortable and DW had him in almost a death grip and was obviously enjoying Howard's discomfort. Thoroughly creepoid behaviour. Always wondered why Matt Lucas suddenly detached himself fro DW too?
