Hi, I am 51 and never expected to be separated/single at this age lol,
What are some of you best tips to help keep looking young - ish .
I put kiwi juice in my moisturiser and I feel it makes my skin feel a lot softer.

My mum used to have the most beautiful skin ever, soft, smooth, hardly any wrinkles, even my husband used to comment on it. I wish I took after her for that but I don't. When I asked what her secret was she said she only ever used Fairy washing soap (you know, the green one we used to use for washing clothes with) and that was all. Certainly worked for her.

Only use products on your skin , that you would be willing to put on a baby's skin . Also being happy gives you a healthy glow .

Plenty of water, suncream on face even in the winter weather and a good walk daily. Also plenty of sleep, which honestly I find hard to do at the minute with night sweats.
I'm a Nivea fan, have used it since I was a teenager, I've tried more expensive brands and always come back to my old faithful. I use their day& night cream pots for 55+, rich nourishing 48hr body lotion and Q10 energy sheet mask weekly. Definitely doesn't break the bank like some do if you are in a budget.
Enjoy single life, I'm divorced now 11 years and love it. Get out with your girl pals and have a ball, well as best you can at present, but it will come.

agree, use any moisturizer, but moisturize
clean and tone your face every day
and eat collagen rich food (no pills or powders) - e.g. bone broth soups etc.

I do agree about posture, Casdon.
One day I saw what I thought was a really old woman way ahead of me (back view) only to realise as I got closer that it was an ex colleague who’s a couple of years younger than me!

It was purely the way she was walking and holding herself. Talk about a lesson!

If you all knew the ingredients that go into your moisturisers I think you'd be horrified. Go for good quality organic creams (Dr Hauschka) is a very reputable company along with lots of others and always use Sunscreen. Drink lots of water, eat healthy and start drinking bone broth for added collagen....

Don't smoke or drink alcohol, keep well hydrated, and stay away from direct hot sunlight. I've only ever used Nivea cream on my face, and I don't have any wrinkles. As for teeth whitening - my dentist is against it as it can damage the enamel. Try cleaning your teeth as usual, and then dip your brush into sodium bicarbonate - you will be amazed at the difference as it cleans stains off so well. And, of course - smile. The best face lift there is!

I am 70 and have tried all kinds of moisturisers over the years. I now use a good toner first thing and Aveeno soothing relief baby cream twice a day. My face is soft with very few lines and people say I am getting younger looking. I have used it for a year. It costs £6 for a large tube in Sainsbury's.

The ordinary company serums are very good. HIFU treatment is also good if that’s available near you .

HannahLoisLuke Thu 01-Jul-21 13:36:34

Agree with most of the tips already mentioned, but I do take powdered marine collegen every day. I don’t eat meat so wouldn’t want bone broth.
I started taking it to alleviate the purple bruising that started as a result if prescribed steroids. It worked and as a bonus makes my skin look and feel smoother, and my hair and nails are stronger too.
I do also occasionally use a micro needler but hesitate to recommend that as you can damage your skin if you go at it too fiercely.

Always wash off make up. Soap and water will do. If it could be arranged , have a Mum like mine who had beautiful skin . She was beautiful , inside and out.

handbaghoarder Thu 01-Jul-21 14:25:53

I’ve only ever used soap and water followed by a lick of Astral cream. Eye make up removed with Astral. Have been known in younger years to sleep in makeup. Just never believed in all the cleanse, tone , moisturise routines. I’m 68 and barely a wrinkle. BUT I am fat and think that helps ?

Elvis58 Thu 01-Jul-21 14:27:39

Drink lots of water, keep out the sun, always wear spf 30 or more on your face.Eat lots of fruit and veg.Get a good hair cut.Smile and enjoy life!

Hilarybee Thu 01-Jul-21 14:34:55

Avoid putting moisturiser under your eyes as the skin around eyes is thinner and the weight of moisturiser will increase wrinkles that may already be there

Esspee Thu 01-Jul-21 14:39:22

Looking young is a factor of the mind. If you have a youthful outlook you will appear young to others.
As to appearance, nothing is more aging than makeup.

Theoddbird Thu 01-Jul-21 15:08:52

I will add to mine that I have never smoked and always protect my face from the sun....both play havoc on the skin.

annifrance Thu 01-Jul-21 15:14:58

I've used haemorrhage cream daily around my eyes for over 20 years. A trick told to.me by a well known actress and ratified by my UK beautician who sold the expensive stuff and used this.

I use Aldi or Lidl face moisturizers might and day, day one has SP15. And their developed which do it all and saves gagging around with different bottles. Look about 10 years younger than my age. E45, Sainsbury's basic body moisturizers and almond oil for the rest. Would never spend above Boots No7 price for anything. I save the money for lovely perfume.

M0nica Thu 01-Jul-21 15:15:27

Esspee that is rather a sweeping statement. I am sitting here with a touch of blusher on my pasty colourless skin (it has always been like that) and a touch of mascara. The blusher stops people constantly asking me if I am ill because I look so pale, and doctors constantly doing blood tests because I look anaemic. This has been happening since I was a teenager and the return of blusher to make up counters in the 1960s has made life so much simpler.

If you mean older women who plaster it on as if they were still 30, I would agree. But there is an art to using make-up and it can be used to enhance an older face as much as it is used to enhance a younger face, it just needs to be done differently

Goats milk soap is lovely for your skin.

hollysteers Thu 01-Jul-21 15:32:11

Don’t waste your money on creams, Vaseline is the best and also removes make up. Yehudi Menuhin’s mother lived to a great age and had skin like a baby’s bottom as a burns surgeon recommended Vaseline before anything else.
Old fashioned Ponds cold cream is good too and removes make up.
I can’t agree about no make up making you look better, I love the lift it gives me. Concealer judiciously applied works wonders.
Also, Botox is brilliant!

Kate1949 Thu 01-Jul-21 15:35:34

Well Joan Collins said recently that her looks are helped with 'lots of make up'. She looks fabulous.

suelld Thu 01-Jul-21 16:01:00

Ditto Kate1949 - I'm 75 this year and also use Olay Beauty fluid daily, I have done for decades, and people regularly don't think I'm the age I am. I have a lot of other (medical) issues though!

Singleton1311 Thu 01-Jul-21 16:06:41

Sunscreen every day at factor 50. Tell the kids to start doing it too,

Valkimob Thu 01-Jul-21 17:34:42

Go out, make friends, and enjoy yourself. Nothing makes you look younger.
