Happy as can be
All good pals and jolly good company...

Welcome. Make yourselves comfortable and let us share our celebrations and tribulations. It's what we do best.

flowers wine brew cupcake and a multitude of virtual hugs.

soop Thu 05-Aug-21 16:28:54

It's lovely to have you here in the kitchen, Fennel.

It isn't obligatory to have anything interesting to say. The fact that our kitchen hums with happy chit-chat is perfect in every sense.

brook2704 Thu 05-Aug-21 16:30:47

Such beautiful photos soop thanks for sharing

gillgran Thu 05-Aug-21 16:44:16

Great photos soop, I'm pleased that Toby is continuing his road to recovery, & well done to Mila for lending a hand.
Your "Sweetie Pie" gets first class cuisine, she's lucky to have you & Mr Soop to treat her so well.

I hope Muse got on OK today, look forward to hear all is well.

I'm looking forward to the virtual Champagne wine soon, Grandmafrench & soop, when we celebrate your special days. (will there be cake?)! cupcake.

Take Care Folks x

soop Thu 05-Aug-21 16:59:11

gillgran Cake is most certainly on the menu. It won't be calorie free, but who's counting?
We shall all gather together at some time over the weekend. I insist on us lot having a right royal knees-up. wink

soop Thu 05-Aug-21 17:07:33

I have ordered a beautifully illustrated hardback copy of 'The Wind in the Willows' for Toby's first birthday. There is plenty of time for his Mummy to hide it away until the day. He has plenty of toys and clothes. It pleases us to add to his library of the future.

A grey day. Some rain...for a change. I need to do more ironing. I made inroads this morning but there remains a few items to rescue from the laundry basket.

I would like to share a wee happy to look forward event with you. Our Baggs will be visiting (with cake) the weekend after my birthday. Oh joy!

My love to you all. I hope that we hear positive news from Muse tomorrow. smile moon

NanaandGrampy Thu 05-Aug-21 17:17:47

Evening all,

How can you be having another birthday so soon Soop , it seems like the last one was only yesterday!! I hope you enjoy both the company of Baggs and your cake, I'll raise a slice here in celebration with you :-)

I have my girls arriving tomorrow for their annual stay with Mum and Dad. We treasure it almost as much as when they come with their families. It will be a mellow time, with much laughter, cake and such. So I will catch up with you all on Monday!!

Happy day xx

Yiayia4 Thu 05-Aug-21 18:18:00

Lovely photos *Soop What a joy that Toby looks so well.
I will look forward to toasting you for your very special birthday.??
As you can see our weekend guest has made himself at home.?
Have a good evening everyone.

Jaxjacky Thu 05-Aug-21 19:14:33

Fennel I just come on here and ramble, I’m sure your rambles will be very welcome too.
Happy, happy photos from soop and Yia, thank you. Have a wonderful visit N&G from your family, precious times.
It feels almost autumnal here this afternoon in S Hants, rainy and dark, as MrJ said, ‘a bit nippy’. DD has been informed by her daily track and trace caller they are out of isolation on Monday. She will lateral flow test them all, Finley has an activity day booked on Monday, so I hope he’s all clear still. MrJ is playing golf on Saturday, it’s a memorial event for one of our local pub frequenters who died from cancer earlier this year, I think DH will get wet.
Haircut for me tomorrow, again, my hair grows as thick as it does long, not complaining.
I really hope muse has had a day with kind treatment and reassurance.
Take care all x
PS i just might, just might, don a frock for the weekend kitchen party, don’t hold your collective breath ?

muse Thu 05-Aug-21 19:45:34

Hello to every single soop's kitchen peeps. As soop says: Welcome. Make yourselves comfortable and let us share our celebrations and tribulations. It's what we do best.

I celebrate that that the skin cancer doctor confirmed that my lower eye lid lump is not a BCC. To reassure me and to give me an answer to what it is, I have been referred to the ophthalmologist at the hospital. The doctor said it looked more like an infection. Meaning it is treatable without surgery.

Thank you to all for your kind and comforting words of support.

We had an excellent drive to the hospital - 40 mins so had time to drink our flask of coffee in the car. The journey home was 90 mins. Everyone heading home I think.

MrM had a doze in a very hard hospital chair in the corridor. He wasn't allowed into the clinic. It's his turn tomorrow. After 5 weeks, the surgery have prescribed antibiotics. On Tuesday, 3 days after starting the course of tablets, the horsefly wound on one leg had improved a lot and the one on the other leg slightly. However, it didn't stop him tearing around with a wheelbarrow with cement last night. Oh how I wish they had prescribed it earlier. He's been in such pain.

I will catch up with absolutely everyone's news tonight. Missed you all but it has given me time to get on an even keel again. Lots of mum and DD talk every day ?

Get those birthday celebration party games sorted Grandmafrench. I've done the pass the parcel.

I had to take a photo of my newly opened lily the other day - before the rains came.

Jaxjacky Thu 05-Aug-21 19:56:51

Good to see you posting muse, big sigh of relief and drop those shoulders now. I’m very pleased for you x

gillgran Thu 05-Aug-21 20:01:04

Enjoy your time with your girls, Nanaand Grampy, that's a great idea, to have some special time. (I love your county, my birthplace, & now our holiday home retreat).

Yiayia, lovely photos, we have one of our DS's dogs again from Friday to Monday, they are having a kitchen refit, 3 children & 3 dogs don't go well with workmen.!

I have hair envy, Jaxjacky, mine is very fine & a bit on the thin side, (the only bit of me that's thin..!!wink
I, too, am getting a trim tomorrow.

Fingers crossed for your DD & family & their LFT's, (J).
After our son-in-law's CV positive test last week, our DD & their family should have been out of isolation next Tuesday, BUT, although DD, elder DGD continue to test negative, the youngest DGD, aged 4, has today tested positive. If they each test positive every 4-5 days, they will be in isolation for weeks..! hmm Oh dear, I feel so helpless.

Take Care all. x

Nannytopsy Thu 05-Aug-21 20:06:41

Congratulations Muse and breathe!
What a beautiful lily - mine need attention. Tea’s ready, must go!

Blossoming Thu 05-Aug-21 20:41:02

Good evening lovely Kitcheners, coming in here at the end of the day is so warm and comforting.

Great news muse, you must be so relieved. What lovely photos soop, Toby is a real bobby dazzler! Your guest is so handsome Yiayia

Today has been wonderful, exploring Pendle and the surrounding countryside. The air is so clean and fresh up there we come back feeling restored and renewed.

I’m ready for my bed now, have a peaceful night all.

Doodle Thu 05-Aug-21 20:44:24

Great news Muse what a relief. Glad MrM is on the mend too. That lily is beautiful. Hope you have a relaxing evening after the anxiety,
soop such lovely photos. Glad to see Toby is doing well.
Hope all the kitcheners are ok. TOYA ?

brook2704 Thu 05-Aug-21 20:45:02

Such good news muse so pleased for you and I hope MrM is pain free soon
Enjoy having your girls home nanaandgrampy lovely family times
I’ve been to the hairdressers this afternoon to get spruced up for soops birthday bash this weekend. If you’re wearing a posh frock jax then I will get mine from the back of the wardrobe too - it’s not been out for ages!
I’ll bring a some cocktails and some posh canapés to get the party started ? who’s on music?

dustyangel Thu 05-Aug-21 21:42:40

That’s wonderful news muse such a relief that it’s not a BCc with the ongoing possible problems that they can bring.Your lily is beautiful, I thought that it was a house plant that you had been given at first but forgot the lovely climate that Cornwall has. My DGS and partner are visiting friends in Cornwall at the moment in lieu of their visit to us and are sending beautiful photographs of flowers and sand swept beaches.

Good evening to you soop from the Kintrye of Portugal. We have been an internet free zone for the last 36 hours. Just our tiny hamlet. Back to normal very slowly and about 48 hours too late an apology from the provider. DH was expecting information about a hospital appointment so we had to force ourselves to eat out last night wink just to be able to check messages. We enjoyed a lovely meal at my favourite restaurant too.

It’s good to be able to say hello to you all again, worrying how isolated one can feel without WiFi now.

Grandmafrench Thu 05-Aug-21 22:05:47

Good evening lovely Kitchen types

Just very briefly popped in to say how thrilled and relieved I am to hear News from Muse. Good news is what we want to hear, not the other lot, so it does look very promising and less worrying. I'm sure you'll feel very reassured once you have been officially diagnosed and a treatment plan provided. Good too to hear that Mr M is on the mend.

It's Sunday, the Big Soop Knees Up Day. The 8th - I remember. Hope there will be enough food and drinks after that little Sweetie Pie has done one of her dawn raids for endless meals. I've had so many good wishes, and belated wishes for my birthday, which was on the 3rd and I'm so grateful to everyone, but that must stop now - I'm beginning to feel like I am on Frank Sinatra's farewell tour! Do you remember that? It was almost as long as his career, I think. ?

Very warm day again today but rather humid. DH and I are walking wounded leg-wise, but he is greatly improved. All due to putting up his bad leg/knee after the treatment and doing as he's told. Simple really. Another day of rest tomorrow and then he can move around normally. As long as we keep him away from the Table Tennis Table, I think we should be in the clear after that.

Anyone - I may have forgotten, apart from gill's family with isolation or Covid related problems, (*jax*?) please all hang on in there patiently and come. back to the 'normal' world very soon. It must be so difficult for families when they are infected at different times or just have slightly unstable test results. A Mother's nightmare, probably.

Hudson looks like he might (know he's) a rather special dog, Yiayia. He looks like he's crazy about you! Toby is looking wonderful, soop plus his sister. I love the idea of Wind in the Willows. Something really to treasure for always from you and Mr S. Enjoy your weekend with the girls, N&G, make some more memories. Lovely to hear about your hair, Jax but not necessarily how thick it is, thank you! ? #nicehairenvy

Glad you had a lovely day, blossoming. Sleep well. I'm away to my bed now. Not wise to post once I cannot see!!!!!!!!

Nighty night lovely peeps. If you're sorting out the music, Doodle and Brook for Soop's Special Soirée - please keep the volume down now, we don't want complaints - or worse- those rowdies from the Argy turning up too early.
?‍♀️?

Hellogirl1 Thu 05-Aug-21 23:12:18

Some lovely photos today, great to see how well Toby is doing.
Blossoming, did you encounter any witches on Pendle?
I was so pleased to read your good news Muse.
Soop, I hope you and Baggs have a wonderful visit, maybe she`ll get to meet Sweetie Pie?

cornergran Thu 05-Aug-21 23:23:13

A bit of a day for us. It started sadly when our neighbours family came to tell us she had died during the night. I was so fortunate to spend an hour with her on Saturday, a feisty, kind, courageous woman who will be sadly missed. Our departure was understandably delayed as time was needed to help the family by sharing the sad news with friends and neighbours

Certainly a day of challenges. Someone had removed (I am reluctant to say stolen) the silk flowers from my parents grave. Easily replaced with those we had taken with us we were left quite cross (furious!) and very disappointed.

In contrast our family time was simply joyous. An hour with our granddaughters allowed us to hear their news without parental involvement. Or do I mean interference ? Our son cooked a very good paella, we laughed, chatted and generally relaxed together. A good afternoon and evening after sadness .

Good news that Sweefie Pie has visited soop, your hospital appointment time sounds to have been as good as it could be muse, I hope Mr M continues to see improvement. Enjoy your weekend N&G, now why am I saying that as I know you will smile.

Sleep well everyone,

.

muse Fri 06-Aug-21 12:11:41

soop? You are never too old or too young for Wind in the Willlows. My BF bought me that and a hard backed copy of Winnie the Pooh for my 60th birthday. The chat with the consultant sounds very positive. Beautiful photos of Toby and big sister.

Blossoming Fri 06-Aug-21 12:22:47

I was the only witch on Pendle yesterday Hellogirl grin

Charleygirl5 Fri 06-Aug-21 14:27:10

YiaYia what a gorgeous dog who loves comfort and cuddles.

Where does Fern put all of that food?

This new computer has decided not to black any names- has anybody any bright ideas? I have only tried once- perhaps if some kind soul will remind me in case it was wrong- thanks.

Blossoming Fri 06-Aug-21 15:24:27

Charleygirl like this with no spaces in between the asterisks and the letters.

Charleygirl5 Fri 06-Aug-21 16:00:16

Blossoming thank you so much. No wonder mine did not {work]! I was away from my computer for a week and I could not remember something so simple- thanks again.

soop Fri 06-Aug-21 16:32:54

muse Three hearty cheers and countless gentle hugs as us lot help you to celebrate your good news. The moment I logged on, I searched for a message from you. We are delighted for you and to hear that Mr M appears to be heading in the right direction, albeit with a wheelbarrow. wink

N&G Your weekend will be super special. You are a close-knit family and I don't have to imagine how much laughter and love will be exchanged.

corner I'm sorry to hear your sad news. I'm also angry that the someone who removed the silk flower tribute could be so mean and disrespectful. flowers

Yiayia There is no doubt that a very special canine finds you totally irresistible. I love the photos.

Grandmafrench With reference to the joint birthday bash. Should we, dare we, invite the Argy Bargy-ites?

What say the rest of our kitcheners? Mr Soop will mix the cocktails. He can be trusted. Honestly! We shall have a juke-box on which all our favourite music can be played at full blast. Baggs will bake a batch of flapjacks. There may be other entertainment. Doodle has been known to pole-dance. Any suggestions (that won't get the rozzers calling in to make arrests) will be considered. grin
