Evening one and all. Sorry I haven’t been in touch sooner. Thank you so much for all your kind words of welcome. The move went well and thank goodness it stayed dry. A move from West Berkshire to South Gloucestershire. I’ve spent a good bit of my time just unpacking, unwrapping and finding suitable places for all my stuff. The broadband has been a trial with no success yet. The house was built in the 1700’s and the BT engineer broke several drills trying to get through the wall to connect us. It took three engineers in the end! A lot of sharp words and smell of burning drills. His cordless drill ran out at one point so had to wait for that to charge. Sky assure me it will be connected overnight, fingers crossed.

I’m sorry I haven’t had a chance to read all your posts and have just skimmed some. My goodness the burns look nasty I do hope they heal well, and what a sweet cockapoo.

Well I must bid you all good night and hope that the traffic on the road outside doesn’t keep me awake, I’m used to a more peaceful location, well that’s for another day. Stay safe and well xxx

Wise words GrandmaFrench.
I know two youngsters diagnosed in their teens and who grew out of it.

Grandmafrench Tue 06-Jul-21 23:03:26

Thanks so much, dragonfly.

Well done, Mattsmum, you did it! Hope once you've sorted everything out.....? you'll be very happy in your new home.
Little word of advice though - don't mention BT and broadband in the same sentence. It'll bring on poor Soop's nervous tic !!!!! ?

Oops I will remember that! Still nothing this morning, going to call them at 8! Have had no connection since last Friday. Working from home and doing a qualification is almost impossible ?

Jaxjacky Wed 07-Jul-21 08:29:57

Doodle and Grandmafrench thank you, I’ve had 8 hours sleep, so my world has returned to its axis, a bit wobbly. I’ll download the leaflet and pass it on.
My background is project management, based on sound information, which is how I’ll now move on. It’s the unknown which is scary in most areas of life.
The overwhelming support from GN has bowled me over, I will always be grateful. Love to you all. X

Madgran77 Wed 07-Jul-21 09:33:13

Oh dear, this morning for some reason my concentration is nil, bit no idea why. So far I have made coffee for DH, then decided to add tge tea bag for my tea to it! Hmm! Then I made some fruit buns and put in garam masala instead of cinnamon! And lastly I put my margarine away where I keep the kitchen towels! Dear me! confused

Hellogirl1 Wed 07-Jul-21 10:59:51

Madgran, I put coffee and sugar in my mug, ready for my breakfast, then decided on a drink of water and stuck the mug under the tap! Cue another spoon of coffee and more sugar!

Madgran77 Wed 07-Jul-21 11:13:05

Hellogirl What a pair we are! A friend is popping round for tea and cake later, I am hoping my brain is in gear by then, for her sake!

Madgran77 Wed 07-Jul-21 11:14:20

...oh by tge way, I am nit giving her the Garam Masala fruit buns!!! She has cinnamon ones awaiting her! smile

MawBe Wed 07-Jul-21 11:16:11

Jaxjacky - ? brave Granny award from me - your positive attitude will be invaluable to support your D and her little family flowers

soop Wed 07-Jul-21 13:43:27

Mattsmum Congratulations! You have successfully moved from one home to another. Now comes the fun bit. I know the feeling well. I won't bore you with details of our episodes with BT. It would be unkind of me to share such buggerations.

Madgran I do weird things from time to time. Hunted all around the house for my specs. They were on the top of my head. I hummed a wee tune when I realised. hmm

soop Wed 07-Jul-21 13:56:50

Hello jillgran. I still haven't welcomed all our new kitcheners. smile

Yiayia Boris has won my heart. He's just the type of dog I would love to join the family.

Fern aka Sweetie Pie visited at 7:30 for breakfast. She is so thin and Mr Soop intends visiting the vet when he goes into Campbeltown. We feel that we should try worming granules. Her visits are spasmodic. No set routine as was in the early days.

Jax Our grandson, who is now a fully fledged adult, was diagnosed with epilepsy as a young child. Worrying times, for sure. However, he responded well to medication and now he travels the world for a living. As far as he's concerned, he is without health restrictions. In fact, we haven't heard of any relapse for some years. We are all rooting for Imogen and send love to the rest of the family. flowers sunshine

BlueBalou Wed 07-Jul-21 15:10:50

Hello everyone, golly this kitchen is busy, I’m useless at keeping up with everyone ?
Jax what a horrible shock, I hope the poor lass is feeling a little better today. Very much thinking of you all in this bumpy time.
We have a new addition to the household, a nearly 6 months old puppy called Annie. She came from a Romanian kill shelter (don’t google ?) 11 days ago and needless to say she’s stolen our hearts —and the settee, my gardening gloves, a pair of socks and a tea towel— so after a pretty horrible year things are looking better! She’ll get me out and about and certainly at the moment I don’t have time for much else!

It’s bucketing down at the moment so add storm-dodging whilst house training to Things to Do!

Madgran77 Wed 07-Jul-21 15:21:44

Soop I cant tell you the number of times I have walked around the house, talkin gto someone on my mobile phone, whilst searching everywhere for my mobile phone!!! grin

Yiayia4 Wed 07-Jul-21 16:03:37

Wonderful dog BlueBaloo how good you are to rescue her.I hope Fern picks up Soop is it possible she has had kittens!
I hope your all feeling a bit more positive today Jaxjacky. My D.iL sends her love to you all. After 2 years of being on meds she is doing fine the medication is so good these days.
We are going to Derbyshire tomorrow visiting D.S,D.iL and grand cats for the weekend. It’s over a year since we went so very much looking forward to it.
Enjoy your evening everyone.

Blossoming Wed 07-Jul-21 16:48:28

Good afternoon kitcheners, just got home from our day out to Shap Fells. It’s been glorious sunshine, we took a picnic and saw more sheep than people. We called into The Chocolate Factory at Orton, Mr. B has bought me an enormous box of delicious handmade chocolates for my birthday. It really is a lovely shop, they do mail order but it’s nicer to visit.

Glad your move went well Mattsmum , beautiful puppy BlueBaloo .

I have eaten too much cake so off for a nap (or carb coma!)

Jaxjacky Wed 07-Jul-21 16:59:45

Happy Birthday Blossoming ?, that’s certainly a tempting shop.
Thanks soop today is definitely more hope than despair, a decent sleep and information helps loads. I have Imogen here tomorrow afternoon, DD is going back to work at school for a few hours.
An early dinner, about 6:45, then off to our booked seats in the local ??????????????.
Have a gentle evening all x

dragonfly46 Wed 07-Jul-21 17:19:27

Happy Birthday Blossoming.

You sound a lot calmer Jax I am sure things will work out for you all. As Maw said you have the brave granny award.

Yiayia have a lovely time in Derbyshire - we have just got back.

What a gorgeous dog BlueBahou. I have a friend who has adopted another lovely dog from Romania.
Have a good evening every one.

soop Wed 07-Jul-21 17:46:28

Happy birthday greetings to our Blossoming. You are every right to enjoy as many chocs and as much cake as your heart desires. She says, enviously. flowers

BlueBahou, your rescued Annie is so very lucky. Doesn't she look very much "at home"? Wishing you many happy years together.

Jax A super warm (hug) from me to you.

It is good to see you in the kitchen, dragonfly. smile

The sun continues to shine. I continue to ignore the dust. Wimbles won't be on for very much longer. Time enough for catch up. wink

Bye for now. I shall certainly hope to be with you all again tomorrow.

smile moon

Hellogirl1 Wed 07-Jul-21 17:47:01

You have a very generous husband Blossoming, I`ve just looked at the prices!!

muse Wed 07-Jul-21 17:51:49

Hello BlueBalou and welcome Annie. There's nothing finer than a walk with your dog or cat curling up on your lap. We have a fine grand array of pets here in the kitchen.

Happy birthday Blossoming. What a glorious shop. Chocolates everywhere you look. What was your favourite?

Glad the move went well Mattmum. Will this be your last move?

Jax. Enjoy the match tonight. Have a lovely few hours with Imogen tomorrow.

I'm looking forward to our takeaway meal from the local pub tonight. I have yet to eat out. MrM still very apprehensive. Last time we went out together was December 2019 . Having a very early G+T by myself and will probably another when MrM and friend are back from sailing the high seas. Good to see MrM out of his clay splattered work clothes. Building site has to dry out a little more before work restarts. Only 2nd time he has had a jolly this year.

I had a good walk with Mya earlier on and then she decided to trot off up the track to our new neighbours. They have 3 dogs. They and Mya are starting to meet up half way.

Calf muscle is still not stretching much so I'am debating about Pilates tomorrow. It does mean me driving too. Not done any since the fall 8 days ago.

I'm watching the Federer match as I try to type - good but tense match.

Have a good evening peeps.

cornergran Wed 07-Jul-21 19:22:26

Happy birthday blossoming. Any chance you’ll share those chocolates? smile.

Enjoy your takeaway muse, sometimes home is best. Can’t help wishing your leg was mending just a little quicker. I’m sure you do too.

I also wondered if your Fern’s weight loss was because she has had kittens, soop. She did seem to be eating for more than one that’s for sure.

I’m sure being with Imogen tomorrow will really help jax, enjoy your time together.

Annie looks very comfortable BlueBalou, good luck with the training.

Hope you’re back online tonight Mattsmum and the sorting and settling in proves to be as stress free as these things can be.

Nannytopsy Wed 07-Jul-21 19:22:33

Hello the Kitchen!
Smug again - the new flowerbed is dug, dressed with compost and has one plant in it! Hoping to plant the rest tomorrow. Roast pork is in the oven, ready for dinner plus footy. Currently Wimbles plus Pimms!
I am glad to hear that Imogen is getting sorted ( as I was a childhood epileptic) and I am sure all will be well.
Come on England!

Fennel Wed 07-Jul-21 19:36:26

Jax I have a GD called Imogen and can't imagine how I would feel if I heard this news.
But as others have said the treatment has improved so much since the old days of phenobarbitol full stop.
She sounds like a stong girl - so think positive!

Doodle Wed 07-Jul-21 19:39:25

Jaxjacky we have had a few health issues in our family and I know well the initial panic and fear for those we love. As time goes on, knowledge increases and a better understanding of what is involved. Grandmafrench a very good post.
Your DGD is very loved, that will bring her through.
Mattsmum hope you will be happy in your new home.
Gracious soop I read your post quickly and thought you were leaving Mr Soop for the PM…….not that Boris thank goodness ?. What a lovely and supportive post for Jax . Hope Fern is ok.
Blossoming many happy returns. Sounds like you had a nice day,
