Having seen Gingster's lovely wedding picture on the Good Morning thread, I'm curious to see more from other GNs. I'll start with mine! This was 1972; would have been our Golden next year, but DH sadly died three years ago. Still brings back so many happy memories.

All these virginal high neckline and long sleeves of the 70s. Weren’t we the permissive generation. Apparently not.

ixion

1975.
We both thought it was corny, but my Mum wanted it (and my parents were paying!)

Your dress was remarkably like mine, 1974. Can’t find a photo, stored away since we moved.
Lovely photos, the look of love in the eyes.?

Beautiful photos! Mine was a very simple quiet wedding due to family health issues. However, we reach 50 years in September this year.

Ours 1970

Your dress was very like mine kittylester; white grosgrain, empire line, high neck. Mine was 1974.

I couldn't find one I liked chewbacca so hired that one. There were 'daisies' on the collar, cuffs and under the bust, chewbacca.

The headdress causes huge hilarity now.

Love seeing your wedding photos. My darling husband died 17 years ago aged 47. It would have been our 40th wedding anniversary in May. Still feel half of me is missing. I have one wedding photo on display which is fading but find it hard to look at our photo album. Perhaps one day.

My wedding dress cost £40 . £30 for material and £10 to have it made. It was 1981 we even catered for the wedding ourselves and had it in the church hall. But it was a wonderful day which could have ended in disaster. Both my dad and husband got held up in traffic jams, I got locked out of the house, mom only got back home from the room 10 mins before the cars arrived. We had sunshine, heavy rain , sunshine then hail. But everyone had a wonderful time.

Wonder how many brides where sweeping floors at just after midnight on her wedding day. Had to leave the hall clean. Happy memories. ☺️

Married in red, it was quite controversial in 1968 but I didn’t want a church wedding and it was Christmas.

I am loving looking at these wedding pictures. That red outfit is gorgeous Dragonfly
It is so interesting to place the very young brides with the "Grandma" type names that some of us use ( me included ) as you get a completely different perspective of the posters.

What lovely photos!

This was us, 1974. My mother told me I’d always regret not having a Proper wedding (church and proper wedding dress) but I never have.

July 1973. A very relaxed and informal wedding with a dozen friends and my husband's brother who took the photos in the local park before we all adjourned to the pub!

It was the happiest day of my life and we had more than 46 years together before his death in early 2020. This week would have been our 48th anniversary and, much to my surprise, I did not collapse in a flood of grief but enjoyed recalling some lovely memories and raised a glass to the love of my life.

LauraNorder Fri 09-Jul-21 12:26:53

Dragonfly, you look like a model. I love your outfit.
It is lovely to see all your younger selves, full of hopes and dreams.
Good memories.

N & G, your mum looks like your granddaughter!

annsixty Fri 09-Jul-21 13:47:20

It gives me a shock N&G to realise your parents only married 5 years before we did in 1958.

Juno56 Fri 09-Jul-21 14:19:43

Here's mine. 1981, 40 years this May.

2002. My second marriage. Our wedding car was a Ford cobra, (my dear husband is a petrolhead). Car kindly supplied by a local cafe owner, who would accept no money, and the car was fully ribboned up, and he took us for a blast round the bypass!
