Welcome to Thread II!

We companionably mused, gossiped and waffled about Royalty, and vaguely related things for 1000 posts!

Starting with names; and ending on them them…
and in between covered everything from Adam Faith to Scottish Country Dancing!

So, as before, God Bless this Ship and All who Sail in her! ??

We don't need to decide on the role of a President because we we have a perfectly good monarchy.

And it is Anello and Davide.

Anniebach Wed 04-Aug-21 17:54:14

Charles hasn’t been hanging around waiting to be king, he has
done much as The Prince of Wales.

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 18:59:41

We don't have to give them a palace. Are you suggesting that a reason for keeping a hereditary monarchy is that they don't complain about living in a Palace that may be unfit for human habitation?

???

Politician's answer!

wink Call

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 20:02:05

Which style will you choose?

I'm having a look through them all.

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 20:02:57

I dont know what happened there!

Callistemon Wed 04-Aug-21 20:32:19

I thought I'd posted a link to pictures of presidential palaces but the link went somewhere else.
Apologies.

Alegrias1 Wed 04-Aug-21 20:56:33

Now I'm really confused grin

Get them a tent, that will do fine.

Jeez, you get one letter wrong
For heaven’s sake

It's an odd premise to say we cant debate the role of a president because we have a monarchy, we have a conservative government, I presume we are permitted to debate alternatives.

Ellianne Wed 04-Aug-21 21:22:02

Don't worry Fanny. The same thing is happening on the other royal thread regards spelling ... megga, mega or even Meg!
I used to buy my ballet shoes from A & D, but my pointes were handmade by an Italian craftsman, Porcelli, I think in Soho.

Ellianne Wed 04-Aug-21 21:23:14

Sorry Porselli .... spell it correctly please!

Mollygo Thu 05-Aug-21 00:28:02

I now have this lovely image of you en pointe! What was your favourite ballet?

Haven’t heard much about the billboards recently

www.independent.co.uk/life-style/royal-family/republic-monarchy-abolish-royal-family-b1894316.html

On another topic, Fergie is just a silly girl, apparently, and M&H are evil incarnate.

Who knew?

There are billboards 12 with a further 15 and September Wales London and other parts of the country.

New petition. Ban royal lobbying and legal exemptions. actionstorm.org/p
I agree don't you lobbying ministers and queen's consent to change legislation Public not meant to know.

And Charles

Allegations of ‘cash for access’ to Prince Charles must be investigated. His links to the Tory party chair & to major Tory donors raise disturbing questions that have to be answered ow.ly/CRyx50FJHOO FOLLOW

Too many to mention Mollygo. The Nutcracker every Christmas, but maybe Giselle otherwise.

Galaxy you are correct of course. It was a nonsensical thing to say.

Thanks Ellianne - I’d never heard of A & D until yesterday.
And we’re onto dancing again!
?‍♀️
Re Meghan and its derivatives, isn’t there a massive shark called a Meg? (Megalotron or something)

FannyCornforth Thu 05-Aug-21 09:38:29

I don’t know what happened with my emoji there confused

FannyCornforth Thu 05-Aug-21 09:39:52

And Grany thank you for the update

Anniebach Thu 05-Aug-21 09:43:59

If the nephew of Charles tells him ‘ someone wants to donate to your charities ‘ so Charles meets the donor to thank them ,
this is a crime ?

I’ve just read the article that JaxJacky linked to.
Apparently M&H considered living in NZ because they were ‘impressed by the access to the outdoors’.

Calendargirl Thu 05-Aug-21 10:11:44

N.Z. had a lucky escape.

Ellianne Thu 05-Aug-21 10:18:02

Calendargirl

N.Z. had a lucky escape.

Not so much money to be made there though. New Zealanders sensibly appreciate a more down to earth existence.
Beautiful scenery!

I think Meghan and Harry would have hated living in New Zealand. Correct, there’s a lot of absolutely beautiful outdoor spaces and lots of outdoor activities. I visited just pre pandemic and my daughter and her family have gone to live and work there for two years as they’d had enough of working in the NHS during this pandemic, and they wanted their children to be able to get back to their normal outdoor activities and life style. Whilst NZ suits my daughter and her family, it is geographically way out of the normal run of things with NZ being so cut off from most of the world. I cannot imagine there could ever be enough exposure for Meghan and Harry there, they would not be important enough nor able to engage in self seeking behaviour, in particular since NZ is closed at the moment. No popping backwards and forwards to the UK with five days quarantine in your cousin’s home, as Harry did twice recently. And of course, crucially important, no mega million deals with LA based Spotify or Netflix. They weren’t even satisfied with Canada, no way would they have been satisfied with New Zealand.

Ellianne Thu 05-Aug-21 10:34:08

I think Harry performed the Maori Haka once. Does that count? Better than his juggling balls!
