Anyone else suffering from the tree pollen?
Hi all
Just starting this
Let’s see how we go
Come on England!!
blubber you say that you have no interest yet post on the site. How strange!
Who cares? Not the majority of the nation and certainly not me
Just have a penalty shoot out at the start of every game and save me 90 minutes if hiding behind the sofa/going for walks etc.
MayBee70 yes! It was a dead heat until penalties. Perhaps it’s time to say that, in a final, after a full match and extra time, there are 2 winners. Otherwise we could just have a goalie, a couple of other players and VERY short matches.
If our goalkeeper hadn’t been as good as he was the shoot out would have been a shoe in for the Italians. Their goalie is a giant. Well done the manager for choosing him. I know Italy technically won but it’s as near to a dead heat as you’ll get.
To be honest I didnt watch the match was too tired after putting the house in order after decorating, but I did watch the penaltys on You Tube. So Italy missed 2 so they were just as bad as England really at penaltys. England did well to get as far as they did and hopefully as they grow they will get better as long as Harry Kane stops falling over. Ha ha. My fav player was Sterling I think he is very good to watch he is everywhere with his little legs going 10 to a dozen.
I'm not bothering listing names, and sinking to their level, but why on earth are people who have NO interest in football bothering posting on this topic? We are discussing last night's match - if, as some of you purport, you have no interest, then why are you bothering to post about it? The rest of us have no interest in your general dislike of football! If you want to whine about it, then by all means start your OWN topic to do so!
I used to love football but then lost all interest. This has rekindled my interest in the game. I can’t wait to see the team develop.
Right, who’s ready for the 2022 World Cup?

I would be really happy if Scotland, Wales or Ireland won a major tournament. I find it really sad that people in those countries don’t feel the same about the English team.
In the post above this one Coastalgran said, 'As a Scot I really did want England to win last night'.
So don't be sad MayBee70.
I’m really sorry. I’m just not concentrating in what I’m reading at the moment. I keep doing this.

I was disappointed we lost. I don’t like penalties but we only lost by one penalty not by a whole match of poor football. Well done the team and Gareth! You got us so far in the tournament.
well said Mollygo

The working men’s club in the next village was trashed last night after the game. No Italian supporters anywhere so they took it out on the snooker tables. What is wrong with people?

@Millie
I've just taken my England flag down from the window and can't stop crying. It's mainly the disappointed children up and down the country who love football and also it was great to see everybody happy and smiling.
Crying? Really? It was a game of football for 'crying' out loud, anyone would think your puppy had died!
Aha, true to form, more puss than harmony.
Blimey. Some bears with sore heads on GN today......

The offside rule explained:
You're in a shoe shop, second in the queue for the till. Behind the shop assistant on the till is a pair of shoes which you have seen and which you must have.
The female shopper in front of you has seen them also and is eyeing them with desire. Both of you have forgotten your purses.
It would be rude to push in front of the first woman if you had no money to pay for the shoes.
The shop assistant remains at the till waiting.
Your friend is trying on another pair of shoes at the back of the shop and sees your dilemma.
She prepares to throw her purse to you.
If she does so, you can catch the purse, then walk round the other shopper and buy the shoes!
At a pinch she could throw the purse ahead of the other shopper and "whilst it is in flight" you could nip around the other shopper, catch the purse and buy the shoes!
BUT, you must always remember that until the purse has "actually been thrown", it would be plain wrong for you to be in front of the other shopper and you would be OFFSIDE!
I've seen this a few times on Facebook. Could it be any more patronising? Do women REALLY need things explained in terms of shopping and handbags? FFS! (I speak as one who finds the offside rule perfectly easy to understand, possibly because my dad was a referee)

As a Scot I really did want England to win last night. Gareth Southgate and his team are exceptional and a credit to sport. I was extremely angry this morning when I read that some had taken it upon themselves to deface a poster of Rashford and on social media hurl racist abuse at Rashford, Sancho and the other young (19 years old) player who missed the penalty. Not just a handful of lesser mortals, 1,000 of them. Whoever these people are they are England's problem not the footballers, the same is true of the mob who stormed Wembley with no regard for safety or the life of others. I do hope that this team continue on under Southgate's leadership and mentoring and get to Qatar in 2022.
No Chocolateit is not, it was a good game and we should now all celebrate together, I am proud of England and wanted them to win, but I am also glad for my Italian friends.
@*Chocolatelovinggran*-not a bad time for me! I had two horses in this race and one of them's racing colours was red, white and green..
I watched the news this morning, there was alot about the racist comments on social media these young men recieved. Let's not confuse these vile ignorant racists with true football fans, who are disgusted by this.
Is this a bad time to mention my Italian heritage...??
Well! That was a 90+ minutes that just flew by and I loved it.Enjoyed all the matches I was able to see. HATE the Penalties decider tho, I'm with Bazza on that.
What a Summer of Sport we're having! Footies,Wimbledon, Tour de France....I'm exhausted.(me, who's never so much as run for a bus cos there'll always be another one coming along, or anyway an Uber)
And I think Gareth Southgate is fab in the way he's comforting the penalty shooters.
Bring on the World Cup! Love the early stages of that...I've seen a goalie take the ball and charge up the pitch with it
Great fun!
Thank you Namsnanny and lavenderzen
