Morning all.
Great news Ashcombe
Nannagarra Chester is my "go to" city too but not sure how it has survived the loss of so many great shops. Haven't been there since before first lockdown. Let us know how it is coping. I know my favourite cafe has gone.
Will come back to read all posts.
Hope weather as glorious where the rest of the grand are as it is here in Cheshire

Good Morning Wednesday
(75 Posts)Good morning from an overcast NE.
Security light work was completed yesterday afternoon, I trust it will work but couldn't check as we were in bed before it got dark.
DH has an appointment with the dentist this morning, she will check that all traces of abscess have gone and the front tooth extraction site has healed. We are assuming DH will now need a replacement tooth.
Video clips arrived from GC on holiday, lovely to see them outside enjoying the good weather.
Enjoy your day.
Espee would a fruit basket be an idea ? I have a similar problem when it is my brothers birthday next month but it is a big one.
Good morning Mickand All.
It’s the start of our summer ‘proper’ here in South Bucks sun shining, warming up, yippee. ?
‘Esspee’ with regards to your male friend I would buy him his own soft rug. Mine cost £10.00 from Dunelm. I put it over my knees in the evening to watch the tv, I take it on hols to put on the bed. I take it to outdoor film/play events for when the sun goes down. I just love it. It can be washed and dried very quickly. I can guarantee no one else will give him a similar gift ?
Alizarin. Do you want some bamboo from our garden? It sways beautifully in the wind. You could hang some wind chimes on it.
So pleased for you Ashcombe that you and olddudders will soon be reunited.
Off to have our glasses tightened. What fun.
Socks Espee ?
Good morning Mick and all his followers.
Grey skies here in Suffolk. Let’s hope it brightens later. I am off to a local garden this evening with WI and sunshine would improve the photos.
I am waiting for the GP surgery to open. An insect bite has got infected and I have a very hot, red foot.
Ashcombe what exciting news! Get that ferry booked!
I hope the day is kind to everyone.
Morning Mick and all
Grey and warm here in S E Essex, up early to get the 6yr old to school for Archery at 8am, he is currently devouring two dippy eggs
Bed changing and gym this morning, not sure what the afternoon will bring.
Good news Ash you and your DH could be together soon
Keep safe and well folks ??
Special coffee beans, coffee stencils, hand blown glass coffee mugs, Esspee?
Good morning from John O'Groates! Up early to catch the ferry to Orkney, I don't usually do this hour of the morning!
In Golspie yesterday we found the apple tree in the graveyard of St Andrew's Church, planted in memory of my uncle, but sadly the poor thing was covered in lichen and looking very unhealthy. I pinched a sprig in the hope that I can keep it alive until we reach my cousin, his son, a few days later. He now lives on the Ardnamurchan peninsula, many miles away.
Good news Ash, delighted you can be together again.
I am being nagged for breakfast, better go!
Good morning. Grey again but dry and forecast to pick up at lunchtime.
We have Dgs today and have booked a slot at the National Railway museum in York so a fun day I am sure. Having had him on Weds since a baby we are now on countdown (emotional ) as he starts school in
September. Although tiring it’s been such fun all the adventures we have had and will miss them immensely. Just make the most of these last ones I tell myself.
I’ve woken up feeling a bit worse for wear after a vivid dream. Tomorrow I have a long awaited dental appointment which I am dreading. It’s for root canal, crown etc. I dreamt I had got carried away on a previous outing somewhere and was an hour late due my appointment and had to explain myself to the practice manager ... oh dear! Anxious or what.
Yesterday I had a catch up with my dad and having lost my mum earlier in the year he is doing ok. I was pleased to hear he is going away in September for a few days with my brother. They have a shared interest in steam trains and are going to Dawlish to see a particular train that is going through there. It’s a place we spent many happy holidays when we were children so I am sure it will bring back memories. Saying that after nursing mum for several years I think he is looking forward to a break away.
Good news for you Ashcombe some light at the end of the tunnel.
Wishing everyone a good day.
Good morning everyone from our holiday cottage, the sun is shining and it’s another lovely day
Such good news Ash that you and olddudders may be together soon - fingers crossed it all works out for you!
We’re off to look round some gardens today and then probably all meeting up on the beach later this afternoon.
Sounds like you had a good day Scentia and looking forward to Thursday. I know what you mean about the cooker and things, whenever I go to my DD1 house I struggle to work the hot water tap and wish she had a normal kettle!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Esspee. ?
Scentia. Thank you so much for your suggestion. I know many men who would appreciate flowers. Unfortunately birthday boy isn’t one of them. He would consider it an affront to his masculinity. ?
I meant to add a message to grandMattie.
I run a support group for friends. If you ever get the urge to iron feel free to contact me and I will talk you out of it. ?
<you’re welcome>
Esspee. I buy men flowers, they like them too❤️
Good morning from a cloudy but dry Colchester.
Wednesday coffee meetup this morning. We'll probably sit outside, so I'll need a jacket.
Love to all x
Good morning everyone from a gloriously sunny Glasgow. The unusual mugginess has gone, there is not a cloud in the sky, so we have summer back.
Unfortunately we can’t go to Loch Lomond either today or tomorrow. Today I have a long awaited eye test, tomorrow a friend’s birthday lunch. We have no idea what to buy him. It would be just a “minder”, a token gift. The usual type of thing would be a bottle of wine but he doesn’t drink, a book but he’s not a reader, or a cake but he has to loose weight to have a knee operation. If it was his wife flowers or a plant would be perfect. Not being a significant birthday spending over £10 would embarrass him. If any of you have a suggestion we would appreciate it.
I hope everyone is well and able to enjoy today.
Good morning from a sunny north Surrey.
Brilliant newAsh that you can finally start planning a reunion with DH
I was so tired when I got home from work last night, but it was good to be back and I have slept well.
PT and the gym first thing, another getting back to normality in my life. I will go straight to mum and dads from there, DSis is going with them on the bus into Windsor and I can make the most of no one home to give their little home a good clean.
DGSs will be back with us this evening, first time I have seen them since our holiday. Will be good to catch up with them on all their end of term activities.
Wishing all a good day ☀️?
Good morning from a sunny south Cornwall. Off to catch two buses this morning to my nearest Currys store, to collect some specialist headphones I ordered online.
Came back from the allotment yesterday with a Mexican Feather Grass in my backpack, given me by someone's son. Apparently it's a compact plant, ideal for my patio. Someone else gave me a freshly killed curly lettuce.
Need to ask my bank if they can supply 40 pound coins for my daughter to give her brother (via me cos she lives elsewhere) for his 40th birthday. Previously when I've asked for similar cash they've said they hadn't got enough to give me unless I ordered it. Honestly, you'd think I'd asked for something weird, like Mexican Feather Grass or lettuce, ha ha.
Great news Ashcombe. The cooker tale made me laugh Scentia.
Have the best day you can, everyone.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun has found his very best hat out and is trying it on as we speak?
Yesterday I did my first shift of Nanna duties and it culminated in my 2 year old grandson showing me how to switch the hob on?. Why can’t DD have a normal cooker?!!!
I took the children to a park where I used to take my children and even though there are more modern play things the old stuff is still there and it was a great reminiscent experience. I can’t wait until Thursday now, when I get a proper lesson from DD on the cooker before she goes to work, then we are off to have a go on a bus!!
Take care my friends and enjoy the sunshine.
Really good news Ashcombe! ?
Good morning GraMingos from sunny Sefton.
I’ve been trying to persuade DH to have an early start and be in Chester for 9am. A visit to Seasalt and a walk by the river really appeals to me. I must be in salmon mode, returning to my place of origin! ?
Miss Chatterbox was here yesterday; Mr Busy is coming this afternoon when he can have the nee-naw (sit on tractor) entirely to himself. He allows his sister to be a passenger but not his nanna. ?
May the sun shine where you are and a flamingo brighten your day.
?????
Good morning from a bright and sunny Torbay! ?
Last night I discovered that Brittany Ferries have made a deal with a company for PCR tests whereby it would cost £135 for all three that are required on this side of the Channel! This gives DH, olddudders, and me some hope of seeing each other within a couple of months! School holidays mean visits from family are already booked for my holiday home next month but, by late August, we could be together…..! ?
That is my only news this morning as I can’t think of anything but seeing my man again after so long! ?
Have a lovely day, everyone! I hope the sun is shiny brightly wherever you are. ??☀️
Good morning from another very busy, grey morning.
Washing/folding/ironing today.
DS1 returning from visiting his sister in Bristol. It’ll be nice to have him back.
Haircut this morning and then visit to very old friend in same village.
Hope today finds peace and contentment to all GraMmingos. ????☀️????
Good Morning Everyone,
Its a bright and sunny start here in Brackley this morning.
I noticed yesterday , the increase of traffic locally, due to the forthcoming F1 GP at Silverstone this coming weekend .
Mind you with one F1 team based in the town , plus motorsport related others it will be busy locally .
Take Care,
Mick
