Morning Michael and all who follow. Sun hasn't broken through yet here in the north. Looks promising though. My happy share is that son with NHS who had leave application turned down has now had it approved which means I will be having a yearned for visit. Like many, longest we've ever been apart so........ Yippee!

grandMattie Fri 16-Jul-21 06:26:03

Good morning from a grey E Kent. We are promised sunshine this afternoon.
Today is Christmas Day. We are celebrating with our boys to compensate for DS1 not having one in India. It will be lovely to have them all here. Turkey, crackers, silly hats, the whole shebang.
Now that the Open is fully open, the traffic past our house is horrendous, bumper to bumper from 0530 to 2200, making it hard to leave the house. Added to which there are about five trains an hour which close down the roads…. Thank goodness it is all over by Monday. Then the cleanup and deconstruction start….
Hope all our absentees including Taichi Nan, and *Marydoll” are doing ok.
May today bring peace to all the GraMmingos. ????☀️

Good morning Mick and all to come. A bright and sunny start to the day in North Surrey.
Shopping trip was successful yesterday and we have purchased a new sofa (delivery 13 weeks), now need to prod DS to get project managing on the improvements I want doing.
DGS1 had an end of school “fun day” yesterday which unfortunately was spoilt when a wasps nest was disturbed by their camp fire smoke and resulted in 6 pupils and 2 teachers getting stung. Poor DGS was one on them with 3 stings on his ankles but he was a brave soldier with a story to tell.
Pancakes promised for breakfast. DH will do the school run and I will do the dog walk before it gets too warm. Bathroom cleaning and then off to work for a late shift.
I have been organising a family get together and tomorrow is the day, feel very fortunate with the weather forecast. We are picnicking in the park, 4 generations, 26 of us. Last minute details to ensure seating for oldies and shading and that we don’t all bring the same food.
DH was watching the golf yesterday Grandmattie, looks a lovely setting.
Sending Marydoll best wishes and hope you are feeling better soon
Happy Friday to all ☀️?

Happy Christmas Grandmattie and family ?⛄️

NanKate Fri 16-Jul-21 06:47:29

Good morning Mick and All.

We are bathed in sunshine here in South Bucks. Off for our hols today to the fab New Forest.

Have a wonderful Christmas Day ‘grandMattie* and family.

Bought some lovely palazzo trousers yesterday which are made of cool cotton just right for this impending heatwave.

Sending positive vibes to Marydoll ??

Good Morning everyone from sunny Severnside.
Off to do the weekly shop this morning and also see if I can get some thread for my sewing.

Had an over the fence chat yesterday with my neighbour. She was optimistic about an overseas trip and gave me some cake.

I’ll see if I can get the wheel back in my bike and sort out a few jobs for the weekend.

Enjoy your Christmas Mattie and my best wishes to all with worries ?

Scentia Fri 16-Jul-21 06:50:04

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where the sun is shining.
It never appeared as promised yesterday so instead of a bus to a local beauty spot I took DGC on a round trip on a local bus. It wasn’t the best of scenery but seeing DGS face during his first bus ride was priceless and he was clutching his ticket all the way round.
Off to work now, we feel quite busy now we have both dropped down to a 3 day week!!
I do hope Mary is a little better today and feels like posting.
Take care my friends and enjoy the sunshine ?

Ashcombe Fri 16-Jul-21 06:51:05

Good morning from a beautifully clear day at Whiddon Down near Dartmoor.

What terrible news coming from Northern Europe! I've been in contact with my friends in the Netherlands, who left the UK due to uncertainty about the future here, to learn that, thankfully, they are safe. My heart goes out to those who’ve lost their homes or loved ones in the floods.

I felt reassured to hear last night that many supermarket chains will still encourage the wearing of masks from Monday, as will the rail companies with The Mayor of London insisting that people on public transport must wear them in the capital.

Merry Christmas, grandMattie, and a happy reunion, Kim19! Your poor DGS1, Dwmxwg! A memorable day for the wrong reason!

Enjoy this beautiful sunshine, everyone! ?☀️?

Susan56 Fri 16-Jul-21 06:52:27

Good morning from sunny Shropshire.

DD and I had a successful time at Cheshire Oaks.We came home soon after lunch as it was getting really busy and lots of people not wearing masks?

Today is the last day of school for DGD and our last childcare day for six weeks.Henry will arrive in about an hour, then school pick up and then the park.

FIL is still in hospital, this is the fourth week.Only diagnosis is old age, no discharge plan.He has not been allowed any visitors and has only spoken to MIL three times.Yesterday he just kept saying let me come home.He was so strong mentally when he went in but MIL thinks he is going downhill fast.We can’t get any answers and don’t know where to turn.Any advice gratefully received.

Happy Christmas mattie and family???and enjoy your family day DWM.

Mary, hope you are feeling better?

Thinking of all our missing friends and all unwell or worried?

Have a good day all??

Jaxjacky Fri 16-Jul-21 06:54:18

Good morning all from a very sunny S Hants. Brilliant news Kim19 ?
Merry Christmas Dwmxwg thoroughly enjoy tomorrow ?. gM I’ve been informed that tomorrow and Sunday are the days MrJ will be watching the golf, he follows McIlroy, I don’t mind it being on.
Today a bit more weeding, butchers to pick up the meat ordered for Sunday’s bbq and an allotment trip to dig up some new potatoes. A wander to the local later for our Friday catch up.
Have a lovely day all, still missing some of our Morningers. X

Susan56 Fri 16-Jul-21 06:55:01

Enjoy your holiday NanKate and good news about your son Kim.

BlueSapphire Fri 16-Jul-21 06:58:49

Good morning everyone from a very bright and sunny ? Northampton. Glad I managed to cut both front and back grass yesterday; it will keep it looking tidy while I am away.

Yes, off on holiday today with the family for a week in North Wales! DD and DS-in-law are picking me up later this morning, and the weather forecast for the week is amazing. It will be so good to be all together again. Don't know what the Wi-Fi will be like up there, so may be off-line for a few days.

Wishes to all for a pleasant day.

muse Fri 16-Jul-21 07:01:49

Good morning Mick and all.
Early start as getting pre work chat with DD in. She sounded less stressed last night.
Better night’s sleep myself. I have eye test today and choosing a pair of glasses as backup for non contact lens days. Visit the fishmonger whilst out. I fancy crab for dinner.
Will catch up with posts tonight and hope to see all missing posters soon.

Good morning all. It is going to be beautiful weather for the next week or more so we are off to the boat for the weekend. No.1 hope is that the baby ospreys have fledged and we can watch their father teach them how to fly and fish.
The boat has been a life saver over the whole covid outbreak and all for the cost of a secondhand car plus apparently the value holds up better than a car so that once we aren’t fit enough to use it we will hopefully get most of that money back.

Yesterday’s birthday lunch was lovely and our friend appreciated his personalised mug.

Now to water all my indoor jungle and lower the blinds to keep out the sun. The garden was watered late yesterday evening while I had a slug hunt. I was in a murderous mood as earlier in the day I had planted out some Nicotiana, the very tall white one that I had grown from seed, only to find that my months of nurturing had provided an especially tasty dinner for my slimy friends. I have had success with this dramatic scented plant before but I didn’t plant them out until they were much larger. They grow almost as tall as me and have a powerful scent. Fortunately there are two in pots in the greenhouse. I shall keep them there until the autumn in protective custody.

Have a safe and happy weekend everyone.

Greyduster Fri 16-Jul-21 07:06:33

Good morning, Michael from a bright, warm South Yorkshire where it is already very warm. An early start for us to get our car to the dealership for eight thirty for recall work to be done, so we will have breakfast in a lovely cafe in the local park, do a bit of shopping, and then come home and wait to be told that we can pick it up. Other than that, see what else the day brings. Have a good one, folks, and stay safe.

Marydoll Fri 16-Jul-21 07:16:24

Good Morning all, from a muggy Glasgow.

I have been AWOL for a few days, as I have been quite unwell. My RA has flared up and my angina has been very unstable and debilitating,
Unfortunately, there is little to be done to improve things. Thank you lovely people for all your good wishes, your kindness has certainly helped my low mood. I don’t do resting, as many of you know and am finding life very frustrating and problematic at the moment!

Sorry (probably much to your relief), there will be no novella today. I haven’t had the energy, nor inclination to get up to any mischief, however, Mr MDoll has been busy!! If only I had the energy to share! wink

Sending my best wishes for all the birthdays and anniversaries I have missed! Hopefully back on track in a few days.

Alizarin Fri 16-Jul-21 07:21:14

Good morning from south Cornwall where the heat is building already.

An old building is being renovated near my flat - floors and ceilings ripped out. Every day I watch a skip fill with big pieces of wood I could use for sculpture if a) I was legally allowed to take it, b) I could lift it and c) I wasn't on crutches!!! Yesterday I stood there oggling the wood when three builders appeared and in no time the bossman instructed the youngest to accompany me home with a wonderful pile of timber he selected for me. I'm still not really sure how it happened. No one usually understands why I want old wood! Such a surreal moment. I grinned all day.

This evening off to our local beach with sons and grandkids for a barbecue. A swim would be nice, but I'll probably just paddle.

Happy Christmas grandMattie. Have the best day you can, everyone.

Alizarin Fri 16-Jul-21 07:22:09

Oh, welcome back Marydoll. XX

GrannyGravy13 Fri 16-Jul-21 07:22:36

Morning Mick and all

Happy Christmas Grandmattie & family.

The Imp is here today, so no plans. This evening we are meeting up with my best friend, her husband and our other friends for a delayed 60th birthday meal for her.

Marydoll thinking of you ?

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Have a lovely Friday and may you all find some ?.

Ashcombe Fri 16-Jul-21 07:26:55

Obviously, the boss at the building site didn’t have a wooden heart, Alizarin!
(Sorry, couldn’t resist!)

Harris27 Fri 16-Jul-21 07:31:09

Good morning all. It’s the day I’ve been waiting for end of term. Some children will leave some will stay as it’s a private nursery some I’m glad are going and some I will miss. All part of the job. The unrest of the year has taken its toll with behaviour this year and I do feel like I need a week off. Love to all on this sunny Friday.

Jaxjacky Fri 16-Jul-21 07:34:14

BlueSapphire happy holiday! Alizarin how lovely of them, an act of kindness.

harrigran Fri 16-Jul-21 07:38:31

Good morning from a sunny NE.
A quiet day for us, no appointments.
Spent an hour reading in the garden yesterday after the grocery delivery.
Family sent photos of them having afternoon tea on the roof of the Ashmolean museum, pleased for them. DIL will get to see her brother for the first time in 18 months when they meet up tomorrow.
The weather is going to be good this weekend, enjoy.
