Its looking like the start of another hot sunny day here in Brackley this morning,
With the British GP just up the rode this weekend at Silverstone , I will do my usual trip to Bicester have a breakfast bap plus coffee ,and then return home and watch the penultimate stage of the Tour de France which is a time trial in the Bordeaux region .
Followed by a Chinese Take Away later.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning, everyone from a very warm Whiddon Down, Devon!

For once, the F1 GP Practice and Qualifying sessions were on regular TV yesterday. Thank you, C4! Today there is a new feature as they are running sprint races between pairs of drivers.

I hope to shop in Okehampton Lidl before it becomes too hot! Last night I walked around the site and this was the view of the sunset when I arrived home.

Welcome back to Marydoll and I hope everyone is well and not finding the heat too debilitating. ?☀️?

Good morning from a hot and humid south Cornwall.

A wonderful beach visit last evening. (Usual picture of flying grandson, this time with his uncle, my youngest son. That's me in the granny chair in the middle. ?) A tasty barbecue peppered with sand, then rock pooling and paddling. As we left to go home at around 8pm a large murmur arose as the beach was filling with young people and I remembered how I had gathered like that with friends when I was 17. So lovely for them.

But then I got home and watched videos of the flooding in Europe and my joy was tempered by the sight of those poor people suffering. All those homes destroyed. Devastating and sad.

The best of days where possible to you all.

Good morning Mick and all to follow. Beautiful sunshine out there already.
Marydoll good to see you posting yesterday. I hope you are feeling a little better and stronger each day.
Will take the dog for a walk soon before it gets too warm. Got home yesterday evening at 930 to an empty house, DH was walking the dog at the local park in the cool of the evening, when he got home he said a couple were trying to get someone to come and unlock the gates as their car was locked in the car park.
Very excited for today’s big family get together. We are meeting at a park and if all make it there will be 26 of us, 4 generations from age 92 to 10 months. We are a close family and have enjoyed many weekend breaks together over the years. I usually book a large house, last one was for my 60th nearly 2 years ago. Since then 3 additions to the family, 2 babies and a fiancee. I am sure much merriment will be had.
Wishing all a lovely weekend in the ?

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Your breakfast bap sounds very inviting, Mick! The sun is well and truly up in South Yorkshire and it’s going to be another hot one. I have been awake since three, got up at half past four, so will probably be asleep by lunchtime, but we are going to DD’s to eat this afternoon, and I have promised GS I would make a strawberry flan for dessert, so I had better try and stay awake long enough to do that! It will catch up with me eventually though. Have a good day, one and all.

Great pictures Ash and * Alazarin*

Good morning early birds and all who follow. I've my family in residence (at last!). Can't wait for GC to wake up. We had a crazy and unusually late night so it may be a while yet. Looks promising of another day of wall to wall sunshine here. Yippee! Hope you all have at least one lovely highlight in your day no matter how small.

Good morning from a sunny E Kent.
The golfers will have a nice day for it, I don’t think it’ll be too humid and a nice little sea breeze is blowing. This morning the traffic is yet to start. Yesterday, it was hellish. I counted 17 empty buses going back to the P&Rs to collect more people. They are choc full the other way.
“Christmas” was very successful, it was so nice to see my boys. As has now become traditional, they have a duel with party poppers to see who does the washing up, ?
I hope the poorly, missing, anxious have a restful day. That also goes for the GraMmingos. ????☀️?

Morning Mick and All from the beautiful New Forest. Waiting for the first ponies or donkeys to amble past our cottage window.

Had a delicious steak, chips, mushrooms and tomato supper out last night, however the portion was enormous. I felt bad leaving half of it. I wish we could have child’s portions.

What a lovely joyous family photo Alizarin.

Off for a paddle, coffee, then some gardens.

Hope you have had a peaceful night’s sleep Mary.

Good morning all from warm Lueneburg. Yesterday I had planned a quiet day but it was not to happen. My DIL phoned and asked if they could have a BBQ in my garden with some friends. So, it all changed. We were 9 people in the end. It was really beautiful though, lovely food, pleasant people and hot weather till long into the evening. All I had to do is roast potatoes. They always request them. Also, I let them have a taste of the chutney , lemon curd and other english foods I treasure.
I had a real beautiful surprise. My english school exchange girl friend whom I haven't heard from for about 60 years looked for me on facebook. She actually looked for me on facebook in 2020 but I never saw it then because I hardly ever look at facebook. By chance I spotted it on Friday and now we are in contact again. My husband was her boyfriend`s friend . I am over the moon about it. She lived in Torquay .
Today a quiet day is planned (again) after I cleared the kitchen - it`s full with unwashed glasses.
Wishing you all a happy day and no worries or bad things.

Morning Mick, morning All from a sunny corner of Somerset

Off to the beach as soon as we can, breakfast and a paddle before it gets busy. Yesterday was a mix of catch up, some errands and reading in the shade. All very gentle.

Take care in the sun if you’re out and about, hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Grandmabatty Sat 17-Jul-21 07:05:16

Good morning all. Polmont is warm and sunny again today. It's such a nice feeling to open the blinds and see blue skies. Mick enjoy your bap. Lovely photos "Ashcombe* and Alizarin.
Yesterday I did the shopping and most of the housework as today is forecast to be very warm. Dd and dgs popped in on their way home from his first visit to soft play. Apparently he was cautious at first but soon he was tearing about with his wee friend.
Today I'm going to Stirling to have breakfast with my son. Then home to finish the housework and do nothing this afternoon. Have a good day all.

Good morning everyone from the sunny Isle of Bute where we’re just about to pack up the car and head back home to Inverness. We’ve had a wonderful family holiday with lots of sunshine and made many happy memories. It’s going to be hot for the drive back so we’ll probably stop off a couple of times to break the journey
Lovely photos Ashcombe and Alizarin thanks for sharing
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Good morning all from a lovely sunny day here in Essex.

Yesterday was full of messages in family WhatsApp with most of the grandchildren being sent home from school to isolate as someone had tested positive, in their class. They only have two more days before the summer break, - they might as well close the schools now. Then last evening , DD texted to say her partner had tested positive. Two hours later , another test had proved negative. These tests are NOT reliable! You don’t know what to believe. Numbers are rising considerably again. I wonder why! (Football and Wimbledon spring to mind). Oh dear!

We had a lovely day with eldest Gd yesterday and caught up with all her Uni news. Lunch in the garden followed by strawberries and ice cream.

A couple of our friends popped in with a belated golden wedding gift and card and stated for a cuppa. A lovely summers afternoon !

Great pics alizirin .That little chap flies higher in each photo ??.
Lovely sunset ! ash . Enjoy your break away.

Easy day today ?. Weekly papers and a short dog walk. It’s too hot to have her running and leaping after her ball.

Hope everyone enjoys the sunshine whatever you’re up to.?

Beechnut Sat 17-Jul-21 07:39:36

Good Morning everyone from a very warm already Severnside.

I did rather a lot of face stuffing yesterday for some reason so will have lighter meals today.

It’s lovely to read of your family and friend get togethers. I’ve no idea what’s going on with all the pinging etc. It’s worrying, I think I’ll plod on in the new normal.

I have a workshop to go to today. I’ve been looking forward to it for ages.

Take care all whatever you do and don’t forget shade and shades ????

Gelisajams Sat 17-Jul-21 07:43:09

Good morning from a warm sunny Morecambe Bay. A busy day in store today. I have the grass to cut for one of my gardening people and mine to cut, prescriptions to collect, the house to clean and packing to do. Tomorrow we head to Stonehaven where we will spend the night before getting the boat to Shetland. Weights exercise first then a quick chat with my friend in Somerset.
Take care everyone and stay safe ?

ginny Sat 17-Jul-21 07:46:26

Good Morning all. On our way home today and hoping the traffic won’t be too bad.
Looking forward to seeing family tomorrow for a late birthday celebration.
Enjoy the good weather and thoughts with all who are struggling in any way.

Scentia Sat 17-Jul-21 07:46:31

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is warm already.
Went for a walk last night and my knee is hurting this morning, I only went 5 miles.?
A pottering day today and then drinks at DD tonight as DH was complaining, that as I have the GC at her house now he never sees them as DD would always pop in the factory for a catch up most days!
Have a lovely sunny day and keep yourselves cool!!

Jaxjacky Sat 17-Jul-21 07:49:14

Good morning all from a sunny S Hants, not that far from you NanKate. Lovely pictures Ashcombe and Alizarin like the party popper duel gM sounds like a memorable day.
And memories from years ago amselerin some catching up to do there!
We had a quiet day yesterday, a lovely catch up with people in our local then sat in the garden. It’s a friends birthday today, so I’ll walk her present round, an old fashioned jar of liquorice all sorts. Then it’ll be water the front garden before starting the weekly newspaper treat.
Have a pleasant day all, enjoy the weather, whatever you’re doing, thoughts with those poorly or absent x

Grandmajean Sat 17-Jul-21 07:50:47

Morning all.
Glorious here in Cheshire.
DH planning to help DS clear some garden for a planned greenhouse today. Think it's too hot so plans may be postponed.
Have seen three great photos already on this site.
Hope the wall to wall promised sunshine helps make the day a good one !

Grandmafrench Sat 17-Jul-21 07:52:29

Good Morning everyone from the sunny ? Mediterranean where I’m up and about to tidy the fridge and a freezer prior to DH’s return from the shops with lots of goodies. He’s avoiding queues and I can use the time then to wish you all a wonderful day, and soak my thirsty garden.

Lovely photographs and even lovelier plans afoot in your summer weather. That little Flying Cornish Boy, alizarin - he’ll be able to run off and join a Circus at this rate.

Hard work yesterday putting 9 medical appointments into the calendar. Nine? How on earth has that happened…they’re like buses! But glad to be able to get on with things. When I made one appointment, The Scanner Clinic raised a query and so I mailed my Rheumatologist for the answer. He emailed me within 40 minutes - so pleased when people get on with things and it’s a job done.

There are two collared doves actually shouting down the chimney - I shall go outside and have words! Otherwise you can hear a pin drop at present, no wind, no swimming pool sounds, not even a dog barking. There’s a joke about France which states that wherever you are here, whatever time - you could get out of your car in the middle of the night somewhere remote and deserted …….but you’ll always hear a dog barking. At the moment then, they must all be off duty!

Hope your grand family park meet is lots of fun, dwmxwg. What a wonderful treat for all! Enjoy your trips, weekend breaks, getaways and time for rest and reflection in such lovely weather.

To all struggling or unwell, feel better soon. To dear auntieflo, stay strong and please don’t get yourself a bad name for eating and not paying! ?.

The special magic of GranPower needed today. Please all wish hard for the safe return for soop’s baby GGson, 11 month old Toby, who has had heart surgery and needs to get home soon with his Mummy and Daddy , safe, well and mended.??

Have yourselves a lovely weekend and look for ??????

Hugs from France for all. x?‍♀️??

Good morning from a beautiful sunny day in Essex bythe sea.
Everyone has such lovely plans for the weekend.
DH arrived home about 6 yesterday with a bag full of washing. He had a great time and we had a lot of catching up to do.
First off today we are going to the boat to see if the curtains I've finished fit !!! I don't think we will venture far after that as the roads around here will be very busy with people coming to the beach.
Enjoy whatever you get up to today and stay safe in the sun xx

Good morning Mick, morning all from sunny South Lanarkshire.

Smashing photos Alizarin and Ash.

It’s so good to hear about everyone’s family get togethers and holidays.

Yesterday my friends caused a bit of a stir in our quiet street as they arrived in a classic American car, a fabulous 1950 primrose yellow Pontiac convertible. This friend has quite a collection of American classic cars and some of them are being used in the new India Jones movie part of which is being made in the centre of Glasgow just now so he arrived straight from filming. Glasgow has been transformed into 1960s New York, I believe they’re recreating the ticker tape reception of the Apollo astronauts. He is having lots of fun.

We’re off this morning to a Loch side hotel close to DD’s holiday house for a few days. There isn’t room for us in the house but we will spend our days with them which will be lovely.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day and a good weekend.

Pittcity Sat 17-Jul-21 08:01:10

Good morning from sunny Colchester. It's going to be a hot one.

I mentioned that our windows were looking filthy and couldn't find the phone number of the window cleaner. DH then told me that he had called earlier in the week but DH had been out and told him remotely to come back another day. No thought to take his number or ask him to do the front of the house!!!!!

I wonder if Marydoll is thinking of starting a correction centre for DHs?????? Luckily mine is out running a Duke of Edinburgh weekend or he'd be up a ladder cleaning windows!!!

Lots of love to all x

Marydoll Sat 17-Jul-21 08:02:38

Good morning all from a very sunny Glasgow, where it is 15C already.
Thank you all for your lovely words yesterday. I'm still feeling pretty rotten, but I always console myself with the fact, that these episodes usually settle, eventually.

We are having a barbecue today, organised by DD and I am under orders to do absolutely nothing, because I need looking after, (her words).
It will certainly not be restful, as DD has never cooked on a barbecue before (apart from on a portable one, when wild camping, which apparently makes her an expert).

I would practise my deep breathing, but I'm breathless ☹ and will try not being an interfering old biddy, as she is so excited. Sitting on my hands should save my energy for clearing up the inevitable chaos, which will ensue. ?
She is such a kind hearted girl, I'm so proud of her, because she has had to overcome so many hurdles ( dyslexia and dispraxia, to name a few) to find contentment and happiness.

DS2 is hosting a surprise 70th birthday party in his garden today for his future FIL, I'm so glad they are not experiencing the usual summer Scottish weather. They had borrowed our gazebo, just in case of rain. Now it will be shelter from the sun for the babies!
We are indeed now a party loving family! DS was always the quiet man, only surfacing from his dark cave for food. I do not recognise this outgoing, sociable man, who cooks and entertains. Its amazing what the love of a good woman can do! ?

For all of you with plans, have a great day. To my compatriots in the sick Bay, take care!?
