Going clubbing!

I'm ready. My 2nd jabber said I was ok to go clubbing, so with our local nightclub doing a special Freedom Day opening, I'm off.
As the last time I went was in the 70's I've had to dig deep to channel my inner boogie wonderland.
Replaced the platforms with some wide fitting Pavers, but glad I got my varicose veins done before lockdown.
Think I can find a low cut vest but may need to borrow GC's felt tips as no tattoos.
Booked my ticket on line and admitted I was over 18.
Starts at 10pm so will set my alarm as usually in bed by then. Hope my hearing aids don't whistle.
Anyone else want to come?

I haven't got any slippers Lemon but I'll invest in a pair as it's a special occasion.

I still haven’t found my silver mini dress and sparkly tights but perhaps sparkly slippers would be more my comfort zone now, of course with elasticated waist comfy trousers and cardie. Would they let me in? (Actually I haven’t got a cardie but am sure I could run to one for this special occasion.)

Have we still got to dance round our hand bags? Might get a bit disoriented now with that one!

Have you seen the size of my handbag?!

Is that a euphemism MissA ??

It will be a first for me. I've never been to a club. I remember them all here in Brum but never went.

Now’s your chance then!
Are you going to wear slippers?

Callistemon

Yes, I can handle troops, I took charge of the Admiral.

Yes, I can confirm that Callistemon can handle a naval type, I have seen her in action at The Argy.

Michael12 Robinsons in Belfast, five floors, each different.

Will they have one of them poles in the middle of the dance floor? I've heard they're good for improving one's core strength.

Can I have a fireman to lift me up onto the pole first? Better get my frilly bloomers out ready.

Will we be able to leave our Zimmer frames at the coat check? And I don't want any long queues at the ladies either; when I say I need "to go", I need to go now!

Neither have I! The Dorothy in Cambridge which I went to held discos and had some live groups. I remember seeing Amen Corner there. Never been to an actual night club (what a sheltered life I’ve had!) so looking forward to this one!

Anything for the glamour of being in your entourage Katie!

Hello Shrub! Happy days. It can’t really be so long ago can it? Perhaps we passed on the stairs/were both eyeing up the same bloke who’s probably fat, bald and toothless now!?

Shrub Mon 19-Jul-21 12:29:26

Yes Germanshepherdsmum, I remember the Dorothy ?!

Kate1949 Mon 19-Jul-21 12:25:22

Yes please GSM I've always wanted an entourage. I may be a bit demanding though. I'm a bit like Mariah Carey. - well you might have to hold my teeth if they start to rub a bit.

Grandmafrench Mon 19-Jul-21 12:06:21

Does anyone know if I could get Soup-in-a-Basket? I’m on a diet (again) but don’t want the dance energy levels to flag. Please can someone check at the venue for a stairlift - I can’t trust my monstrous wedged heels to keep me on the straight and narrow after a couple of Babychams!

Germanshepherdsmum Mon 19-Jul-21 11:56:00

Oh yes Katie. Can we tag along and be your entourage? Still searching for that silver mini dress and sparkly tights I had in the 60s. Anyone remember the Dorothy in Cambridge back then?

Kate1949 Mon 19-Jul-21 11:44:22

In 1965 I was asked to be a go go dancer on Thank Your Lucky Stars TV show. I didn't do it - too shy. Do you think if I mention this to the bouncer on the door he/she will class me as a minor celeb and we could all get in free?

Found my micro skirt, boob tube and 6 " heels. Ready to rock!

monk08 Mon 19-Jul-21 11:13:22

I remember Rebecca's Mick plus Rum runner & barbrella's.
Loving this thread?

Or even Chubby Checker's Twist if our replacement knees and hips are up to it! ?

Some of those knees might end up pointing the wrong way. shock

Last time I went clubbing they were dancing round their drinks. We all have to put our glasses of Sanatogen in the middle and do the Hokey Cokey round them.

Or even Chubby Checker's Twist if our replacement knees and hips are up to it! ?
