Going clubbing!

I'm ready. My 2nd jabber said I was ok to go clubbing, so with our local nightclub doing a special Freedom Day opening, I'm off.
As the last time I went was in the 70's I've had to dig deep to channel my inner boogie wonderland.
Replaced the platforms with some wide fitting Pavers, but glad I got my varicose veins done before lockdown.
Think I can find a low cut vest but may need to borrow GC's felt tips as no tattoos.
Booked my ticket on line and admitted I was over 18.
Starts at 10pm so will set my alarm as usually in bed by then. Hope my hearing aids don't whistle.
Anyone else want to come?

Thank you, Boris, for setting us free to shake our thing!

I shook so hard, the sequins all fell off my boob tube so I'll be in a cute mini-dress next time.
See you there!

Loving this thread. ? Came late to it due to a day spent in A&E and now getting the hang of hobbling in a splint and on crutches! Can’t join you on the dance floor atm, ladies, but i could mind the drinks. Anyone remember The Cheshire Cat in Nantwich in the mid 70s?

Is it just me now? I suppose it is my username. May as well go home too. Hope you find your teeth Grandmabatty.

damn! I lost my teeth while dancing very vigorously to David Bowie. Or maybe I threw them at Tom Jones. If you come across them, bring them to the next night out. In the meantime I'll be on a liquid diet and sound like Sean Connery.

Barmeyoldbat Tue 20-Jul-21 19:09:14

When is the next night out

HurdyGurdy Tue 20-Jul-21 18:58:41

Oh, thank you 'netters.

I've not laughed so much in a long long time.

The one hanging onto the pole is MissAdventure I think!

A preview before it's published in Hello magazine!

I forgot to say, I auditioned for the Television Toppers in my youth then for the Roly Poly's in later life.

I didn't make the grade but sliding down poles might be right p my street

Politics shhhh Maggs
When I went to the loo at the club last night I saw Boris in a private room with that Jennifer girl doing pole dancing. He certainly wasn't at Chequers. Or did my eyes deceive me in all that fog?

Best thread in a long time. I was so close to not bothering to read the threads anymore as they were either whiney or too political this made me laugh out loud.

Will our cataracts affect our ability to see amidst the flashing lights?

Barmeyoldbat Tue 20-Jul-21 16:18:56

Need to take draw up at least two doses of morphine to take with me, will I be allowed in or will I need a Dr’s letter to say morphine is prescribed. I could also include a few extra doses for those in need (. No charge to GN)

Those were the days!
I wonder whether the male clubbers will look as gorgeous? that's where I met my husband.

I hope you don't mind, I took some snaps. Here's one. Maybe you'll recognise yourself...

Best thread ever in Gransnet????
I’ll be joining you in my trainers, stick on tattoos and a good supply of tenas.

Maremia Tue 20-Jul-21 13:38:44

Hot pants, black lacy tights and white plastic boots at the ready. Just need a volunteer to iron my hair.
Loving this thread.

Dottygran59 Tue 20-Jul-21 13:34:53

Well I got there in the end, bit of a rush what with the carmen rollers, fake tan, fake tats, and trying to squeeze everything in to my hot pants and sparkly boob tube but I loved boogying with you all to Earth Wind and Fire, even though we DID have to keep stopping for a breather - roll on the next one

Tooyoungytobeagrandma Tue 20-Jul-21 13:15:52

Just discussing disco days. I miss dancing to my favourite late 70's early 80's disco tunes bopping round my kitchen isn't quite the same. Widmsh I could find a boogie keep fit class where you can do your thing but take a rest when required and no difficult routine to follow. I tried simba bit despite being quite Co ordinated found it hard to keep up. Looked at salsa classes but most are for pairs and I'm just me. Hmmm feel a dance round the kitchen coming on?

Harmonypuss Tue 20-Jul-21 13:12:29

@Kate1949 .... you've not been to the clubs in Brum? You don't know what you're missing!

Saturdays at the Tower Ballroom in Edgbaston were the notorious 'Grab a Granny' nights.

I don't know if the Tower's still there but it would be a great nostalgia trip!

Clarer Tue 20-Jul-21 12:50:15

Jaxjacky

Michael12 Robinsons in Belfast, five floors, each different.

I’d need oxygen by the time I reached the 5th floor. I found some bottles of lemon Hooch left from the 90’s I’m sure they’ll be ok??

hamster58 Tue 20-Jul-21 12:30:50

That's so funny and brilliant, eyes streaming with laughter tears. Thank you everyone!

FarNorth Tue 20-Jul-21 12:26:35

Yeah, okay, I was slumped in a corner later on - I wasn't passed out at all.
I was conducting social observation.

Peff68 Tue 20-Jul-21 12:13:45

??? you are all hilarious!

I’m LOLing at my desk!

Thanks for cheering me up and I think there’s money to be made for an oldies nightclub, especially Horlicks shots mmmm sound lovely, perhaps made with baileys!

Gabrielle56 Tue 20-Jul-21 11:51:49

Just a thought though.everyones saying how much the 'yung' have sacrificed for the greater good!?! You'd think they all isolated on their own so the rest of us could carry on regardless! We ALL made the sacrifice it's just that the 'yung' think 16 months is a long time........ They'll learn.
