Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking the like the start of a another hot balmy day here in Brackley this morning .
I noticed on weather map , we are just of the extreme heat area
. Did Bicester as usual yesterday but tried to spend thine under cover in cooler areas although was only hour there.
I also have started to look at coach trips , I noticed a advert in local banbury paper online , although I think the original organiser has now retired , the coach operator are doing trips on the same lines as in the past but a different booking option online.
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Wednesday
(45 Posts)Good morning everyone from a warm and already sunny Essex by the sea.
We are up early again and DH has already left to do some work on his boat.
He will be back at lunchtime and we have some shopping to do.
My granddaughter hasn't fractured her wrist, just a bad sprain. Good news for their holiday in 10 day's time.
Have a lovely day and stay safe in the sun xxx.
Good morning from a cooler E Kent. It will be hot although we’re not in the pocket of extreme heat. I find the heat truly debilitating.
Good luck with the coach tours, Mick, hope you find something soon.
It seemed very odd at Sainsbury’s yesterday, with all the barriers removed. Most of the customers were wearing masks but by no means all. I am ambivalent about mask wearing, but always put one on out of courtesy.
Auntieflo, bindweed is everywhere since digging up, but I’m afraid I bunch it up and put weed killer….
Laundry today and sewing Iris’ trousers. I might make her sister a crop top out of white broderie anglaise if I have time.
Trust all those shielding, all the anxious GraMmingos, the sad, in pain, and everyone have a good day.
Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it looks like it will be another sunny day.
Good news about you DGD Sar
Off to work shortly.
I only had a few hours with DGC yesterday as SiL came home early and said he will take over, didn’t like to say “no, you’re ok!!”
We are off swimming on Thursday though, still limiting numbers snd have to book at our leisure centre so that is good. I do notice a lot of people not wearing masks and overheard a lady say to her friend “well, I’ve had my jabs so I don’t need to”. People still don’t understand it is not for them it’s to protect everyone else!!
DH is off away with friends at the weekend and he still thinks I miss him when he goes away!!! In a way I do but ‘Oh the Empty’ it is second to none??
Well have a great day and stay cool, find a bit of shade and sit in it?
Good morning on another hot, sunny one in Torbay.
I had an interesting conversation on the phone yesterday with the pharmacist at my surgery. What began as a discussion about the management of medication for my B.P. developed into him revealing that he is actually French (with barely a hint of an accent). He knows well the area in which DH, olddudders lives, having spent childhood holidays in a nearby town where his late uncle owned the château! Fortunately, he has dual citizenship so his future here is secure.
What a relief for your DGD, Sar53, so the enjoyment of her holiday is assured. Like you, grandMattie, I shall continue mask wearing in shops, etc. It is a requirement still at my surgery, which is reassuring for staff and patients.
Today marks our first chance to meet inside for Wednesday Club at the theatre and we shall be glad, not least because it will be wonderfully cool, the building having once been a church.
Hope everyone is as well as possible and is staying hydrated in this heat. ??☀️??
Good morning from a ridiculously hot south Cornwall.
Signed off by my surgeon yesterday but informed I need a knee replacement as soon as feasible, so that means I'll have had three ops in one year. But the surgeons here are excellent, so I trust them, if they think my constitution is up for that. My hip surgeon actually asked me who I wanted to do the next knee so I requested the person who did the previous one. What service. NHS you never fail me!
Popped into Iceland on the way home and the shop was so warm that a net of oranges I bought was actually hot. Contradiction in terms at the moment, a shop being called Iceland.
I hope your day is a good one. I'm off downstairs to my cave again asap. Roll on Friday when rain is forecast.
Good morning all from sunny, in the extreme heat zone S Hants, think I overdid the hydration yesterday evening, pints of squash, so up and down all night.
Good news Sar for your GD. MrJ had a good birthday culminating in watching the cricket last night, he says thank you for your good wishes. We ate roast chicken, his choice, about 8:30pm, cooking that in this weather is true love.
He’s off to work soon, I’ll be watering the greenhouse and then no real plans, it really is too hot to do much.
I hope all those on holiday, spending time with family and friends have a lovely day. Still miss crumpets and trains on this thread.
Stay safe, stay cool.
Good morning everyone from Inverness where we’ve got some low cloud to start the day but it’s forecast to be a scorcher later.
Another morning looking after the DGC and then I’m looking forward to meeting a friend at the local Dobbies garden centre for coffee and a chat later this afternoon.
Yikes - I’ve just had to summon DH to evict a massive big spider from just under the bathroom window, we’ve been leaving the windows open and I think a few have moved in!
Hope everyone finds something to enjoy today and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning all. Polmont is sultry this morning. Heavy cloud and already 17°. That's good news Alizarin about your hip. Not so good that you need a new knee though. Sar also good news about your dgd's wrist. Enjoy your meeting Ashcombe. A cool church hall sounds perfect in this weather.
Yesterday was a repeat of Monday with the added bonus of the fish man. I hadn't heard his usual signal so he stopped outside my house for me. Isn't that good service? Dgs loves playing with water and sand and we spent quite a bit of the day filling up basins and watering cans. Fortuitously, the hose I ordered arrived in the morning so the garden got a good soak while the wee man was down for a nap. I slept fairly well last night which was a welcome change.
Today I'm off for a haircut at 8.30 then a visit to mum. The rest of the day will present itself in due course. Stir fry chicken and vegetables for dinner. Have a good day all.
Good morning from north Surrey. Another scorcher here is forecast we did have 5 minutes of rain yesterday evening but didn’t cool the temperature. I have decided the hot weather doesn’t agree with me. I used to get prickly heat on foreign holidays until a GP prescribed me small dose steroids to take for the 2 weeks. I don’t have the rash but itch in the places where I would have had one and my feet and hands feel swollen although it is not obviously so. I can’t get my wedding ring back on.
Yesterday was wonderful but oh so tiring. Don’t know how I ever managed as a childminder when mine were little. 10 month and 3 year old for the morning. Mummy arrived as DH going to collect the DGSs early from school. Encouraged her to sit and relax in the shade for another hour whilst the children played in paddling pool. That and a big soppy dog who wanted to be near us was exhausting.
Off in a minute for PT not sure if I will manage to carry on to the gym after with this heat. Need to get the bed stripped and in the washing machine first.
Waiting on a call to see if I am wanted to meet in Staines to have have girls whilst mummy tries dresses on. She has ordered online but may want to go to shops, has a wedding on Saturday with nothing to wear.
Boys will be back this evening so paddling pool needs refilling.
Wishing all a good day
Good morning from a hot Severnside.
Staying in this morning and I have to go out this afternoon and do something I haven’t for a while so although I’m keen to go and see what it will be like I don’t really want to leave home in this heat.
Stay cool all ☀️
Good morning all from the sunny Black country.
Nice day spent in Lichfield yesterday found a flamingo, a T shirt covered in them so it had to come home with me.
Plants are watered washing on.
Will see if our bank is open today they keep sending staff to cover holidays and sick to another branch, hope this doesn't mean that eventually they will close ours.
Thoughts with missing posters, enjoy your day and may you all find some ?
Good morning. It’s a bit cloudy here today still warm though. I saw on a vlog I follow some parts had quite a deluge of rain, hail and storms yesterday afternoon. Nothing here in east York’s though.
I enjoyed coffee and catch up with a couple of friends sitting in the sun. In the afternoon I’d gone for a walk to our local shops intending to have some lunch out as I find it hard knowing what I fancy to eat in this weather. I came across a lovely young lady who used to teach the Zumba class I used to go to. She has a 3 year old girl I knew about but there she was nursing a 2 month old baby too. It was lovely to see her and her daughters are beautiful little girls. Since health issues a couple of years ago and Covid I’ve found it difficult getting back to doing any exercise. After a chat I feel quite inspired to. I think I would maybe like a PT rather than classes. I’m scared of committing and not being up to it ... excuses eh!
Well no child minding today as ds and family are away so what to do? I’m thinking of going out for the day as it is a little cooler. I’m unsure where but must get up and onwards as it will be too late. I find if I don’t strike while the irons hot so to speak I can’t be bothered.
Have a good day everyone.
Morning all, equally beautiful here in GY, just back from walking the dogs so now tucking into my breakfast. Having fed them and watered the garden. Feeling quite industrious!
I hope you all have good days.
Morning Mick, morning All. Another hot day ahead for our corner of Somerset.
We officially made the magic 30 degrees yesterday. Didn’t venture out and stayed reasonably cool inside. Some ironing to do and a grocery delivery this morning, probably not much else although there is medical stuff to chase for Mr C.
Good news about your granddaughter sar. That is good care alizarin, we’ve also noticed spiders joining us through the windows brook, I’m sure they are boomerang spider, taken out into the garden the same ones are heading straight back in.
Take care everyone, stay cool. Hope Wednesday is kind to us all.
Morning all from a hot Cheshire.
Met two friends for a natter yesterday afternoon in the beautiful garden of one of them. We put the world to rights and suggested possible titles for Prince Harry's new book. Suspect he wouldn't appreciate any of them.
Hope all are coping with the heat
monk08: lovely to see Lichfield mentioned as I lived about 15 miles from there in the Haywoods for nearly 40 years! The cathedral is magnificent and there are some quaint streets to explore, too. ?
Another very warm Good Morning to you all.
Just had a FaceTime call with DGS 2. He fell over a couple of days ago which resulted in two very nasty grazes on his knees and one elbow. He wanted to show me that they are getting better. More to the point was a reminder to make cakes for our holiday and how to bake them.?
I have two friends coming for lunch. We have met up in person for over a year so lots of chattering to be done. Luckily we have plenty of shady areas in the garden so will be able to enjoy outside
Wishing you all a pleasant day and thoughts with all who are under par in any way. Hope everyone finds a smile.
Good morning all from a very humid Glasgow, it’s 17C, which is unusual for us.
Feeling quite low today. My BIL, whom none of us have seen for years, died yesterday and a friend is very unwell. He was a troubled soul and my MIL and FIL never really came to terms with his marriage to DH’s sister, who eventually divorced him. It has been a bit of a shock to say the least, he was only sixty five. Despite everything, I had a soft spot for him, he had a dreadful life as a child.
Glad to hear your DGD hasn't broken her wrist, Sar. Alizerin, that’s rotten news about your knee. What a year you have had. You must be in a lot of pain, but you are always so upbeat. BTW, the fruit trees are coming along a treat! I have had to eat my words! I will send a photo, once the garden is back in order and I can reach them.
We are off early to B&Q, while it is quiet, for items, only known to MrMDoll. I’m only tagging along in the hope of finding some plant bargains to fill a large, blue, enamelled pot, the Ebay Queen picked up for me. She got it for £20, when it would have cost nearer £100. She has such a nose for a bargain.
I am also looking for an outdoor plant stand for my cornucopia of herb filled pots, they are taking up such a lot of room, but suitable stands seemed to be sold out everywhere.
My visit to LIDL yesterday proved very worthwhile, to say the least. I managed to pick up a LIDL veggie box, after doing battle with a fearsome elderly woman and her husband, who blocked the aisle, determined that no-one would get near them, until they had their pick of the best. DH quickly disowned me and disappeared up the aisle. What a bargain I got for £1.50.
•2 Kg potatoes
•1 large leek
•3 large lemons
•3 apricots
•3 large red peppers
•4 peaches
•1 satsuma
•3 chilli peppers
•2 red apples
Despite his reluctance to accompany me to Lidl yesterday, MrMdoll managed to spend a fortune next door in the Range on items to stain and varnish his birthday, whisky barrel, his latest project. He was in the middle of painting it, when we had an unexpected visit from Dollie, who had been next door visiting her other grandparents. Unfortunately, I had forgotten to switch off the hose (it’s always my fault ?), sharp eyed Dollie, noticed it was dripping and picked it up. Let’s just say her poor papa didn’t need a bath last night! He was soaked, much to her delight (and mine) ! DIL didn’t see the funny side of it all.
I have a patch of cellulitis on my leg again, thank goodness I already have medication at home and can nip it in the bud, without phoning the doctor.
The itch was driving me mad during the night. It often flares up in the heat when we are abroad, but never before in tropical Glasgow!
Wishing you all a pleasant (and cool) day.
Ashcombe we find something different every visit to Lichfield among the quaint streets.
DH cousin lives in Little Haywood In fact she rang last week and invited us over just need to arrange a date.
Good morning Mick and all from another sunny day in northwest Lancashire.
New dishwasher arriving between 11 and 3, so preparing for that.
Fan on low in bedroom all night which made a difference.
Lunch with old friend yesterday went well, although I felt listless after bad night. We are both big talkers so it went on for hours. He talked me into a pudding which I don’t usually have as he was having one. Didn’t eat anything last night. When he dropped me off, I asked him if he would like a cup of coffee or cold drink, hoping he would refuse, but no, in he came and more chat lol. The “ lunch” went on from 12 to 5.30. Just as well we only meet every 6weeks or so. I’m a bit nervous about his driving (mid late eighties I think) as although pretty fit and on the ball, I sense a querulousness.
Red squirrel visited my bird station again yesterday.
Coach trips are an excellent idea Mick, you will have some lovely places to visit in your area.
Wishing you all a nice day,
Pic of recent trip to Skipton Castle in Yorkshire.
Good morning from a hot and sunny Black Country.
Popping over to Mums today. We can have a walk along the railway walk, as it is lined with trees and in the shade.
Tonight I am meeting an ex work colleague for a meal, probably salad!
I lived in Lichfield for 20 years, my DS lives there, so go over regularly. I do miss living there though.
Stay cool everyone
Good morning from an overcast NE.
Another sticky night with the fan kept on.
Morrisons delivery this morning, there are missing items no bread, pain au raisin or crackers but the more exotic ingredients are there.
Spent most of the day in the garden reading yesterday, must try and do some work today.
Take care and stay hydrated.
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
Good morning from sunny Colchester. It seems that the weather is much more pleasant here than the rest of the country. We had a short thunderstorm yesterday evening and today doesn't feel so oppressive.
Usual Wednesday morning coffee meetup in town. The venue hasn't changed any Covid rules except that we are now allowed to talk to the next table and mingle indoors. We will probably sit outside anyway under a big umbrella.
I noticed that more people were wearing masks outside and in yesterday. I think the new "freedom" has frightened us.
Much love to all x
