I don’t want this thread to be full of ‘oh it’s dreadful s’ there’s already two or more threads like that, but is there anyone else who actually enjoys a few REAL summer days …..in the summer.
I get quite down when I see cool, grey, windy or rainy summer days as our season is so short
I ve finished work and I m sitting in the garden with a coffee the kids next door have a pool in the garden and are butt naked jumping in and out screaming with delight, the swift’s are screeching and flying like jet planes and the seagulls calling to each other The sky is blue and the sun is strong (for once)
I could sing ( if I could hold a tune)
Is there anyone at all ?

GrannyGravy13 Thu 22-Jul-21 15:36:20

Yep I love it he heat ???

MaizieD Thu 22-Jul-21 15:41:16

I enjoy it very much so long as I'm not required to do anything that involves physical effort.

Though the hot weather isn’t very good for me, I love it, for the fun and joy it brings to the youngsters. While I lie under the fan, I’m receiving pictures of my little grandchildren, frolicking about. The baby, starkers, toddling around the garden. My teenage granddaughter catching up with her tan, and my fake-tan-mad d.I.l. is saving a few pounds.
The little ones who live opposite, and those who live behind me, have got their giant pools out and are having the time of their life. Screaming and squealing echos through the neighbourhood . What’s not to like about the sun??

Oh yes, I’m in that club Bluebelle, blue skies, all meals in the garden, nice long g&t in the evening before watering all the plants as the shadows lengthen, paddling in the sea and listening to the children shrieking as they get up to their chests in the cold Irish Sea. Flowers in full colour, fruit ripening on the trees, what a wonderful world when the sun shines.
More please, more, more.

I get really tired and lethargic, and feel sweaty all the time, so I hate really hot weather. I prefer the temperature to drop slightly. The air feels like a thick smothering blanket, which is really noticeable when you step out of a lovely cold supermarket! If you can sit somewhere nice in the shade with the sound of water splashing then that's probably okay, but brickwork seems to hold the heat and in the evenings after a hot day it feels sweltering inside. And I can't abide the noise of a fan in the bedroom so my sleep is disrupted.

As others have said, the plus side is that the children enjoy playing in the water and you enjoy their enjoyment, but for myself (feeling sweaty) and for people who work without air conditioning (especially on their feet) it's not enjoyable. It's all about where you are and what you're doing, isn't it? Anywhere near water or in the shade is fun, but not everyone can have that.

I love it too but I always sit in the shade. There's a massive thunderstorm brewing here and the clouds are piling up ontop of each other. The birds have gone very quiet I love thunderstorms ??

Totally love this heat. Just returned from a 6 mile hike on the hills and it was fantastic. It’s currently 28 degrees here.
I loathe AC for the noise all night and the artificial icy cold blasts. Even backpacking in India I always travelled 2nd class non air con on the trains and busses as I love it so much. My wife thinks I’m part reptile, probably lizard, as I live basking in the sun.

I love it too, but I'm pale skinned and stay in the shade. Its 31 here today and can see my poor husband is suffering.

I love it too. I seem to be the only person not having any trouble sleeping and still using a duvet the same duvet that I have used all winter.

cornishpatsy Thu 22-Jul-21 16:12:33

I don’t like it but am pleased for those that do especially this year when sun worshipers cannot go abroad.

It is lovely to see the children enjoying the beaches and parks.

Casdon Thu 22-Jul-21 16:12:55

Yes, I love it, particularly now I don’t have to work through it in a stuffy office. I’m taking a holiday at home this week, pretending I’m abroad, and it’s lovely. My dog isn’t so keen though.

MiniMoon Thu 22-Jul-21 16:15:19

You are not alone. I love the hot summer weather. I love the long, light evenings and the daylight at 04:30.
Here in the North of England we don't get enough sunshine.

Lincslass Thu 22-Jul-21 16:16:48

Yes I enjoy the hot spells we get. Knowing full well they don’t usually last for more than a week. Thunderstorms on the way for us by Saturday!!

Callistemon Thu 22-Jul-21 16:27:03

I'm a Goldilocks.
I like it just right which is about 24C with a slight breeze and an hour's rain at night.

You are NOT alone

Dinahmo Thu 22-Jul-21 16:37:32

I tend to agree with Chestnut. The sun doesn't like me very much - if I'm out in it for too long I get blisters between my freckles so I tend to stay in doors. However, there is nothing nice than sitting under the shade of a large tree with a good book and a glass of something cold.

BlueBelle Thu 22-Jul-21 16:40:57

keeper1 at last I feel normal, someone like me, I am still tucked down under my duvet as snug as a bug in a rug (I have two in winter)
Thank you thank you folk I no longer feel like a fish out of water I love this thread I am not an alien when I rejoice at waking up to the sun for at least one week a year
I am surrounded by all the world and his wife telling me how. dredful, it is thank you for giving me a smidgeon of hope that I m not the only voice in the sinking doom and gloom

I honesty don't know how people can sleep under duvets in this weather. I am a cold person but always warm up at night and am currently sweltering with no duvet at all!

BlueBelle Thu 22-Jul-21 17:04:30

I do feel cold at night didn’t used to when I shared a bed but otherwise I do
I am a Pisces so obviously a cold fish ???

Franbern Fri 23-Jul-21 09:19:13

Bluebelle, My second daughter is like you. Always cold, she is enjoying a happy comfortable week now. Always said she should have lived in the Tropics. She was using her electric blanket still, each night, upto about four or five weeks ago!!!
Very bravely, she announced at the beginning of this week that she was going to try to NOT use her summer duvet one night - but gave that up half way through that night!!

Her hubbie is the opposite and uses just a coverlet (no duvet) most of the year. Fortunately, their 6 foot electric bed permits then to have these different heat zones!!!

Last evening she visited me, and I had to stop the fans oscellating in her direction as they made her too cold!!!!
