Good Morning Everyone,

I am watching the men's Olympic road race unfold on TV , throughout the morning , and will do my usual bus trip later on to Bicester .
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from a grey Kent. Mercifully, it won’t be too hot today; thunderstorms threatened but knowing us, they will go all round!
My boys are off for a few days in Skye this morning - a very long drive, almost from one corner to another of UK.
We had a lovely evening together, despite DS2 having finished a couple of night shifts that morning.
I’m still trying to finish Iris’ trousers, and then make her big sister something similar.
Our tickets are bought for our week in Bristol starting Saturday next week.
Happy birthdays and anniversaries to all. Hope you have a gentleman. Stay safe. ????

MawBe Sat 24-Jul-21 06:31:03

Good morning everybody from N Bucks. Certainly cooler than it has been and with a breath of wind- much nicer.
I was late abed yesterday finishing off a throw I have been making for my D’s MIL who despite being younger than me has advanced Alzheimer’s I hope the bright colours appeal to her and the soft yarn I have used.
I just have to work out how to get it to her as she is in a care home in Essex.

A kind thought grandmattie but I really no longer lack a gentleman in my life- not unless it’s the one I married 51 years ago tomorrow!

grandMattie Sat 24-Jul-21 06:32:15

Bummer - gentle day…. ?

MawBe Sat 24-Jul-21 06:33:24

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Another early awakening for me, but at least I slept through the night. It’s dreary and grey in South Yorkshire but dry at the moment. We have nothing planned for today. DH wants a quiet weekend; just as well, as DS sent a text to say could he come down “sometime this weekend” but he’s keeping his powder dry about exactly when that “sometime” will be, whether he will need feeding, why he is coming….. hmm. Does there have to be a reason? Well, yes, usually!
I must think about assembling some stuff to pack for our upcoming holiday, but I can’t really summon up the enthusiasm at the moment. I need a kick up the backside to get me motivated. Have a good day folks, and stay safe.

Scentia Sat 24-Jul-21 06:48:08

Good Morning all from East Staffordshire where it is a little grey.
I have every intention of going to do the park run this morning but it has been 18 months and it may not be easy to get back into it, plus I may need to check my shoulder doesn’t hurt when I jog, maybe next week? I may ask SiL if he wants to come with me with the running buggy and the children.
DH still hasn’t told me he has arrived in the lakes ok yet, I only know he’s alive as DD said his friend put it on FB!!
I am off to DFS to look at sofas today then to see DD and DGC as she has booked us in to soft play at 1.30. I am missing DD since she has been at work, I love having the GC but get just a few minutes chat with DD both ends of the day.
I will take one of your gentlemen Grandmattie just for the weekend mind you?
Have a great day my friends and keep smiling ?

Alizarin Sat 24-Jul-21 06:49:39

Thank you for first smile of the day gM.

Good morning from south Cornwall where it has been raining, oh joy!

This morning off to our allotment coffee morning, then if the weather and my knee allow I'll potter on my overgrown allotment. My nephew and family arrive from Bedford today for two weeks in a holiday let, which my sons are thrilled about as they are all very close. My 'flying' grandson's 4th birthday tomorrow with a bouncy castle for everyone in their street. Not me, though!!! Have the best day you can everyone.

ginny Sat 24-Jul-21 06:54:01

Good morning. On the go early this morning to finish packing. Off to Suffolk with DD3 and DGS ( 12 weeks and 5 years ). Leaving both DHs behind. It is going to be a busy week.
Hope you can all find a smile today.

Ashcombe Sat 24-Jul-21 07:16:33

Good morning, all, from a distinctly soggy Torbay, but I have slept later due to the “coolth”!

Well, grandMattie, a certain gentleman would be most welcome here! Not happening just yet and we cope. Folk on here are so kind in their support and I thank you all for your lovely words of sympathy yesterday, both publicly and privately. I do have private moments of sadness regarding DH and me being apart, but we both acknowledge that others have far greater crosses to bear and at least we are surviving.

A beautiful throw, Mawbe, which will surely be appreciated! I understand that patients with Alzheimer’s like things to fiddle with such as beads or bits of ribbon, but perhaps such additions would spoil the overall effect of your handiwork.

I hope the rain clears as we are due to stage an outdoor “Move It or Lose It” session with our regular teacher, as part of an Ageing Well festival.

Some lovely holiday plans and family gatherings to enjoy by the sound of it! Have fun and stay safe! ? ??

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-Jul-21 07:17:59

Morning Mick and all

DD is here with us for her holiday as she only lives 5 mins away the GC think it’s hilarious ? Consequently the 6yr old crept in to our bed at 6am, it will be a long day!!!!

The sky is grey and we have a storm alert so no swimming or football in the garden, no doubt the neighbours and my plants will be relieved.

Keep safe and well folks ??‍♀️

Feelingmyage55 Sat 24-Jul-21 07:18:07

Good morning from a misty north of Scotland. I have some late seedlings to pot up, cut the grass then wash the windows.
I might deserve to watch some of the Olympics. There is such a variety to choose from but I do especially enjoy the gymnastics.
Unsurprisingly, the ice cream shop sold out yesterday, not something that happens often.

Gelisajams Sat 24-Jul-21 07:19:03

Good morning from Shetland where it is still cool and cloudy.
Today are going on one of our favourite excursions. We will drive for an hour into Lerwick, catch a ferry to another island, drive across the island then get an inflatable boat which we booked a few days ago, to take us to the island of Noss which is essentially an RSPB reserve. We will walk right round the island watching hundreds of noisy fulmars, kittiwakes, guillemots and gannets as they scan the sea then dive for their dinner.
Hopefully I will catch up with everyone’s news when we get back. So far the internet is behaving impeccably!

Take care everyone and stay safe. ?

GrannyGravy13 Sat 24-Jul-21 07:19:38

MawBee lovely throw, I am sure it will be much appreciated.

harrigran Sat 24-Jul-21 07:30:46

Good morning from a cooler and overcast NE.
Sister will visit today and bring bread and meat.
DD is going to do some Aldi shopping and will call this afternoon.
Hoping I can get some housework done now that it is cooler.
Enjoy the weekend.

Good morning everyone from a bright Northampton, but rain is forecast this afternoon, so I will try to cut the back grass before then.

Got back from a lovely week in North Wales yesterday, the first time we have been together as a family since February last year. The weather was glorious, almost too hot, but we managed to find rivers to paddle in and had two trips to the beach. A lovely morning was spent in Portmeirion, a place I had always wanted to visit - we could actually see it across the estuary from our holiday cottage. Much time was spent just relaxing in the shade of our cottage garden, then retiring indoors in the evening to play family games. Delicious meals were cooked by DS, DD and DD-in-law. And of course I had the company of my two lovely DGDs!

Hoping all are well; have been out of touch as the wi-fi was not secure where we were staying. Take care and stay safe everyone.

Sar53 Sat 24-Jul-21 07:33:56

Good morning from a damp and grey Kent.
A very disturbed night. DGD, age 3, didn't go to sleep til 9, then woke at 3 for an hour. She's a bit under the weather and also missing her mum and dad. Let's hope for a better night tonight.
I think we will have to find things to do indoors today as rain is forecast for most of the day. A real shame for those getting married today after the lovely weather of late.
Have the best Saturday you can everyone xx

Grandmajean Sat 24-Jul-21 07:35:52

Good morning.
My "boys" - husband, son and grandson - are also off to the Highlands today GrandMattie Their destination is Kinlochrannoch for annual boys' holiday. I won't relax until I know all safely there. DD and DGD going too this year so three cars on a very long journey to worry about ! They are all good at giving me updates on the way.
Lovely quilt Mawbe

Good morning everyone from our campsite just near Aviemore where it’s a misty start to the day but forecast to be hot later. Yesterday was a scorcher, hot and sunny and about 26degrees, very unusual for here but lovely too.
I think DH and I are going for a walk this morning to Loch An Eilein, hopefully it’ll be quite shady in parts as I don’t really enjoy walking when it’s too hot.
That’s a beautiful throw Maw it looks so lovely and soft
Safe journey to your boys GM a very long drive, I hope they enjoy Skye when they arrive
Your holiday sounds so interesting Gelisa thanks for the picture of the broch yesterday and what an adventure you’ll be having today - enjoy!
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?

Gingster Sat 24-Jul-21 07:42:46

Good morning from a sunny but very blustery Suffolk coast.
Yesterday the wind got up suddenly and I could see our gazebo in distress. We managed to get the legs down and rescue the cover before it disappeared out to sea. As happened with our old summerhouse 3 years ago and that was a wooden construction which had stood the test of time. .

Today we will prepare the cottage as DS1 will be coming up for a few days with family on Monday. We usually vacate our bedroom for guests as it has a toilet and basin (I won’t call it an en suite) ? and an adjoining bedroom for the children.
We never sleep well in the spare room as it’s a smaller bed and no loo. Hey Ho! Never mind we can manage for a few nights.

ginny welcome to Suffolk. I’m sure you’ll have a lovely time with your family. ?..

Dh has just gone for the papers . We only take them on a Saturday and with all the supplements and puzzles they keep us busy for the week. He will buy a small baguette , fresh from the bakery. My treat with butter and marmalade! Mmmmm!

Wishing you all a ‘gentleman’ type of day. ??

brook2704 Sat 24-Jul-21 07:44:07

Safe journey to your boys too grandmajean I hope they enjoy their holiday and you get regular updates!

Dwmxwg Sat 24-Jul-21 07:44:23

Good morning from north Surrey where the rain has just arrived.
My shift yesterday was cancelled, I am booked to work a late today and tomorrow so we shall see ?
Made the most of the time (poor DH)! and cleared the guttering and patio drains then cleaned the windows inside and out.
DGS1 rang to tell me he had a tooth extraction at the dentist. It was a milk tooth with the second tooth grown behind it. He seemed very pleased with himself
Expecting early visit from DS with DGD1 so he can go and get his haircut. He will then take DH out for breakfast.
Will make some tentative plans for rest of the day in case I get cancelled again.
Wishing all lovely Saturday, enjoy the respite from the heat.

baubles Sat 24-Jul-21 07:46:58

Good morning Mick, morning all from cool and cloudy South Lanarkshire.

Beautiful throw, Maw.
Great to hear of everyone’s travels to all corners of Britain. I hope it’s not too much longer till you or your DH are able to cross the Channel Ashcombe.

Today will be a housework and food shopping day, nothing remotely exciting happening chez baubles.

Wishing everyone a peaceful day.

Grammaretto Sat 24-Jul-21 07:49:35

Good morning all from the Scottish Borders where we have the Haar yet again . I can hardly believe it will be a scorcher later.
I have been invited for coffee in Edinburgh. It's a very Edinburgh thing, I have decided. Why would you invite someone for coffee knowing they have an hour's bus ride?
No matter, I have made plans for the rest of the day smile
I hope the news is good when it arrives Greyduster
I waited in for a df to come to collect something yesterday. She texted, when it was too late for me to go for my walk, to say she'd changed her mind and sorry but they had all gone to the seaside. Grr.
You can tell I got up on the wrong side of the bed today.
That throw is gorgeous MawB and will be appreciated.
What adventures you are having Gelisajams

Have a good day everyone whatever you are doing.

Marydoll Sat 24-Jul-21 07:51:18

Good morning all from a very cloudy Glasgow, where it's 15C.

Maw I'm sure the quilt will be a great success. A lot of hard work there!

Wishing you all a lovely Saturday. I need to rush. I'm running very late after a restless night and DD is coming at 9am to take me out for an hour.
I fear I have turned into my mother and my daughter has taken on my previous role of caring for the elderly! wink
