Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking grey cloud but its high here in Brackley at the moment but its also dry.
I am watching the men's Olympic road race unfold on TV , throughout the morning , and will do my usual bus trip later on to Bicester .
Take Care,
Mick

A beautiful throw, Mawbe, which will surely be appreciated! I understand that patients with Alzheimer’s like things to fiddle with such as beads or bits of ribbon, but perhaps such additions would spoil the overall effect of your handiwork

Thank you for the “beautiful handiwork” comment. I cherish no such illusions.
With respect Ashcombe my D’s MIL is bedbound and doesn’t “twiddle”. She may not have many months left, but I wanted her to have something soft and comforting whether on her bed, round her shoulders or across her knees on the few occasions they may sit her out in a chair.
A “blankie” in other words.

Good morning Mick and all his followers - just! We have just had brunch - both egg and tomato on my clean shirt. ?
Lovely throw Maw and ?for tomorrow. The sun is breaking through here in time for our neighbours’ wedding. I wondered why they have been so busy this week!
Last day of isolation and I have just done a third test - negative again smile
We have friends to lunch tomorrow, so a bit of cleaning and tidying to do today.
I have Portmeirion on my list BlueSapphire - we could see it from my brother’s holiday house in Borth y Gest but kept putting it off.
I have washing to hang out but next door have a smoky bonfire - grrr
I hope the day is kind to everyone.

Good morning Mick and all from very hot Lueneburg. I am going into the garden soon after cleaning the house. The gardener has cut the grass yesterday and I am doing some weeding and getting some more potatoes out. I always plant the left overs from last year - they keep the weeds out a bit. After a rather long telephone chat with my older sister I should be starting to work - but it`s too nice. I went visiting to some male friends yesterday and played bridge. They all can`t wait for me to move to England as they want to visit. My gardener, who has a large van, said that he would take me there with some of my ready packed boxes - but when? I did enjoy all the photos and reports of holiday places- I note them down for my time in Britain. A bacon roll would go down well, maybe later today. Have a good day all and enjoy the sunshine or rain. Rain we need here in the north of Germany. My little stream is almost dried out. Take care all. I used to live in the Rhondda Valley - I loved the people there. I just thought that I would mention it. I want to get to know all of Britain. I think the world is beautiful x

Good Morning all from grey Harrogate
The bad news I had this morning is DGD has tested positive for Covid, so I reckon I shall have to test myself soon. DH is supposed to be having a small op at the local hospital on Friday, he will have the PCR test on Tuesday, then completely self isolate until his date (providing neither of us have caught it from DGD. Apart from that it's a nothingness day.
Your gentleman did make me giggle, GrandMattie
Glad you have enjoyed your break in North Wales Bluesapphire, I am so hoping nothing is going to stop us from going to Llandudno in September. Yes Portmeirion is quite something, isn't it, haven't been there for a few years. Hope you soon find your Mojo Marydoll so difficult for you if you can't do what you have always done.

Have the best day you can, folks

Good morning all from a grey and much cooler Lancashire. No rain yet and it’s still warm. I have a few things to do while Mr. B is out at the Scout Camp where he volunteers. They’ve not been able to have any events there and it won’t reopen until 2022, but there is some maintenance needed. It’s the first time he’s been there for months and it’s just an outdoor meet to discuss what needs doing.
Have a peaceful Saturday all ?

Mapleleaf Sat 24-Jul-21 10:12:03

Good morning.

As Greyduster reports, it's a dull but dry start to the day in South Yorkshire. At least it was a little bit cooler in the night, which made it more comfortable.

A nothing much doing day today, other than a few chores, including the ironing now it's feeling a bit cooler- it was just too hot to tackle it earlier in the week, despite my intentions.

I haven't read most of the posts yet, will come back later, but wish you all a pleasant day. The throw looks lovely, Maw.

Grandmajean Sat 24-Jul-21 09:55:29

Brook I think my nine year old GS must be reading Gransnet ! He has just given me a journey update and he and his Dad are still in Cheshire ! About half an hour into the journey to the Highlands !

Grandmafrench Sat 24-Jul-21 09:45:26

Good Morning everyone from The Scorching Place ???
where someone capable and careful (and his Assistant with a Supervisor’s hat on ?) will reduce some of our Jasmine today. It’s now making a many-pronged assault on the roof tiles.

As it’s a bit cooler (oh yes? ?) might attack the ironing today. Then again…..

Even if you think it’s short, that’s a lovely haircut and lovely hair, dusty. Sorry to impart the news that your cherry angioma is an age thing! I’m really off things that are ‘age-related’ but better that than something nasty, eh? Hope you’re keeping it all under a hat and aren’t fried to a crisp in Portugal.

Soft throw, Mawbe? Bet you’ll have to smuggle that one out of the house and away from the dog!

I’d love to be bird-watching somewhere so wild and remote, Gelisa - what a privilege - enjoy your day.

When the Flying Circus Boy meets The Bouncy Castle, I’d think some mad fun will ensue. Hope you’ll have a great time. An old fashioned tea is a thing of joy to me, Nannagarra. I lose no opportunity to entertain the French to our lovely tradition. Enjoy. I’m sure your friend is ok., but good to check.

A great day for you, GrannySomerset and should reduce your stress as well as properly opening up all of the house again. Welcome home, Blue, looks as if it was all ? perfect!

Have a wonderful day, Elizabeth but make sure you have enough rest - and a lie-in tomorrow?

For all who did a rain dance, enjoy the break from the heat. For all with stress and worries, try to let some of it go - if only for a little while…..and b.r.e.a.t.h.e.

Love from France and from me. Soldier on, dear people!

Good morning Mick and all Morningsters. Drizzle in mid Cornwall has just stopped but more expected later.
Cuppa in bed as I woke at 5:00 but did eventually get back to sleep about 7:00. I’m not fit for anything unless I’ve had a good 8 hrs sleep.

Beautiful quilt Mawbe. Congratulations for your WA tomorrow.
Happy 4th birthday to your little treasure Ali. Watch that knee.
I’ll have an extra gentleman, if there’s one left GM. Greedy me ?

Off to collect more build supplies today. Chat with DD later today. She started the maintenance claim the other day and has planned to talk with a counsellor about her worries. There’s also an appointment to see specialist about her hip/back pain.

The car may get cleaned today. It’s covered in dust from all the build infill work this week.

Tea is now finished. I can hear MrM getting breakfast ready.

Happy thoughts for you all. ????☺️?

Kim19 Sat 24-Jul-21 09:20:31

Morning all! Grammaretto, thank you for my first chuckle of the day. 'It's a very Edinburgh thing' has me in bits. Is it still Morningside or everywhere? Beautiful throw MB, I love your colour selection. Trying to think of what uses a gentleman would currently have for me but decided to pass on this occasion. Perhaps too warm?!!

Grandmabatty Sat 24-Jul-21 09:19:20

Good morning all. Polmont is grey again today but a bit breezier than yesterday. Mawbe that's a lovely throw. Gelisajams it sounds like an interesting day ahead.
The trip to St Andrews today is postponed. The forecast for the coast isn't great so dd has decided we won't go. However she's invited me for lunch so that'll be nice. Other than that,I have to nip to Aldi for food and iron everything I washed yesterday. I wasn't feeling great yesterday and didn't do much so catching up today. Have a good day all.

hollysteers Sat 24-Jul-21 09:11:01

Good morning Mick and all from Cloudy Chambers northwest Lancashire coast, still feels close.
Off to do a biggish shop and very importantly buy cat food to the liking of the feline master. Sometimes think they would starve rather than eat food they find distasteful. I think the makers put catnip in various brands.
Friend arriving tomorrow for a couple of days, so a little preparation (reluctantly) although everything seems a bother at the moment. I’m out of sorts and can’t put my finger on it. Maybe just going out of the house will help after days of lounging on the chaise being fanned by two handsome nubile young men in the heat…
Nice work Maw and hope you all have a good day.

Nannagarra Sat 24-Jul-21 09:09:31

Correction: plus ?you have the chance of an encounter

Dogsmakemesmile Sat 24-Jul-21 09:07:42

Currently cool and much lower in temperature here in the Borders. May do some baking and thinking of buying a tapestry kit. Did that years ago. Have a safe day.

cornergran Sat 24-Jul-21 09:00:15

Morning Mick, morning All. Some overnight rain has dampened our corner of Somerset, still overcast with more rain forecast to come.

Lethargy ruled yesterday once the medical stuff was sorted. Nothing of note accomplished although I was dead heading in the garden at nearly 10pm, cool enough then. We’ve been sitting out watching the bats circle over the little river, I’ve found it totally relaxing. Nothing planned today, see if storms arrive if not may drift out to a garden centre for supplies to make some small changes to our front garden.

Look after yourself everyone. Hope Saturday is kind to us all.

Nannagarra Sat 24-Jul-21 09:00:03

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is cloudy though we’re not due to have rain until Tuesday. It feels cool and fresh.
That’s a beautiful quilt Mawbe - how kind of you. For those of you who post from Scotland I often feel I would benefit from a glossary. Sending wishes for a happy birthday tomorrow to flying DGS.
My Thursday meet up group are planning the annual afternoon tea fest (missed last year of course). It’ll be dainties, bunting and pretty floral bone china tea cups and saucers. I’m really looking forward to it.
Today I intend to catch up with a friend from school. Most unlike her, she didn’t respond to two texts I sent her last night and I’m concerned as she lives alone. Without revealing her identity, some of you might ‘know’ her well as she was a radio presenter for the BBC in Shropshire. She’s a night owl so I’ll have to wait until this afternoon to phone.
Apart from that it’s general pottering and dogs stuff for us today. The temperature is much better suited to DGdog, bless her. Thinking of those who are missing and those with struggles.
Sending all a ? and a ? plus the chance of an encounter with a flamingo.

Pittcity Sat 24-Jul-21 08:53:25

Good morning from cloudy Colchester where it's just started to rain.
DS's uniform is drying on the rack inside by the open patio door. He came home for the weekend to escape the heat in the West of England ?

Nothing on the calendar for today. I'm glad as I can catch up with jobs around the house now it's cooler.

Lots of love to all x

Jaxjacky Sat 24-Jul-21 08:47:43

Good morning all from a still close, grey S Hants, we had lightning, thunder and heavy showers from about 2am, all dried up now, more later. DD’s car had a thorough check over yesterday and my car is back, our friendly mechanic charged £35, bargain. We have the GC’s later to stay over, I’m a little wary with Imogen, sure it’ll be fine.
Lovely throw Maw, so clever and lots of trips out for everyone, such a change from not so long ago. Ashcombe I feel for you and Oldu it’s been such a long time.
MrJ will go and get the weekly treat of a paper in a while. Enjoy your ‘gentlemen’ today all, along with any ?? x

aggie Sat 24-Jul-21 08:46:40

Morning All , it’s cooler for a bit , so I got the greenhouse watered early and threw the washing up water on the Delphiniums which are starting to look a bit crispy !
DD is away this weekend and it’s amazing what I can do left to my own devices ? , she is very good to me , but I did bridle when I heard her say she takes a day off as carers leave !
I love the throw Maw beautiful colours , my crochet ones aren’t as neat , I cobble over mistakes ?

Alizarin Sat 24-Jul-21 08:44:10

Welcome home NanKate. I went off to the chiropodist with the remainder of my blood thinning tabs in my bag and came home without them. They weren't found at the chiropodist's. This is a three minute walk from my home. The Tablet Fairy, no doubt. smile

Good morning everyone from an overcast cool start to the day here on the east coast of Fife.

Today’s the day of my annual family bbq our ds is so pleased with the coolness here on the east coast he's been finding the south of England weather far too hot for comfort.

Fingers crossed the sunshine comes out this afternoon just like it’s been doing these past few days

We’ve already started the festivities with the long-standing cousins who stayed over last night.

It’ll soon be time to sneak a bacon roll in before the bbq gets going. Fun food and family today I’m getting all excited. Just needing my carer to pop in to support me to get washed and dressed. Where is she I wonder?

have a lovely day all you supporters of gn keep well and safe.

Anniebach Sat 24-Jul-21 08:40:43

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Lins1066 Sat 24-Jul-21 08:36:12

Good morning from a dry South Welsh coast, the sun has just come out after overnight rain. The Yellow warning for rain, thunder and lightening didn't materialise thank goodness.
A beautiful throw Maw a lovely gift for your friend.
Thank you all for your good wishes yesterday, they were much appreciated.
I love your photos from Shetland Gelisajams, enjoy your boat trip today. To all those going on their travels have a great time.
One of ours is in London for the weekend and they had dinner at the Shard yesterday evening, just a tad envious.
Have a lovely outing with your daughter this morning Marydoll, I recognise that feeling with my DD more and more. I'm learning to go with the flow ?
Have a good day what ever you are doing and stay safe.

GrannySomerset Sat 24-Jul-21 08:24:51

Stairlift being fitted today so we need to be workman ready early (for us). It will be a huge relief since DH is now so wobbly I have my heart in my mouth when he is on the stairs and had convinced myself he would have a catastrophic fall before it arrived. I have still to get him safely downstairs this morning …..

I do know what Marydoll means about role reversal. I have never thought I was an old woman until very recently despite what the mirror says, but now need to accept the horrid truth. “Harsh but true” as DD would say.

Still, lots of nice goings on to read about and a cooler, grey day ahead might even see the enormous ironing pile tackled.

NannyJan53 Sat 24-Jul-21 08:17:23

Good morning from a much cooler Black Country.

DD and family safely arrived in Wales, just hope the weather is kind to them. Although the recent heat would be too much for their Labrador!

I really hope it won't be too much longer until you and your DH are reunited Ashcombe I am sure it is on the horizon now!

Welcome back NanKate I do that with tablets all the time when away. Put them in a safe place, then cannot find them!

Lovely throw Maw I am sure it will be very much appreciated.

Another go with the flow day, hopefully go for a walk now the temperature has gone down.

Wishing you all a pleasant day.
