Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey and wet start here in Brackley this morning , will watch some of Olympic mountain biking this morning , before going out to Bicester later .
I have had thoughts on doing what I have done before lockdowns ,and make a full day of it and include Buckingham in the journey , but will see what changes occur over coming weeks.
Take Care,
Mick

Thanks Grandmafrench, as Billy Connelly famously said ‘I’m a Catholic, I have A level guilt!’

Grandmajean Tue 27-Jul-21 10:12:25

I'm on my way too, Grandmafrench as am on my own this week. See you soon

Blossoming Tue 27-Jul-21 10:12:33

Good morning all from cloudy grey Lancashire, where rain and thunderstorms are expected later. It was very hot and sultry last night. Hoping your day goes well.

ginny Tue 27-Jul-21 10:21:03

Please add me to next weeks list Grandmafrench.
I’m loving my week with DGSs but I’ll need a rest by then.

Good morning,

It’s a grey morning here in South Yorkshire but still dry - the rain is forecast for this afternoon.
The pots still need water though, so I’ve been out to give them all a drink - unless it’s prolonged rain, they still dry out.

Popping out to do a few chores in the local town shortly - it’ll be a quick visit, I don’t linger these days. Will read all the posts later.

Hope you all have a decent day.

Thank you for the advice Marydoll. I did try last year and found a lot of the house lacking!! Pittcity. when DH gets back from walking the dog I will call Virgin with a view to knocking the prices - DH will not leave them!! It drives me mad!!

Dogsmakemesmile Tue 27-Jul-21 11:39:20

Good morning. A hot day in the Scottish Borders. Thunderstorms forecast so washing put out by DH as soon as done. Some baking done. Evening meal sorted. Books, OU course and radio four as companions. Going to seek out seated exercise regime for next few weeks. Lovely whatsapp messages from AC. All doing ok and waiting for second jabs. I admit I haven't read the earlier posts so unaware of what people up to/going through. Trying not to be on line too long but will check later.Have as good a day as possible

Nannagarra Tue 27-Jul-21 11:53:37

Can I also be in the first tranche Grandmafrench? I’ll nip out to Home Bargains for a dinghy and bring an owl from Sefton. Grandmajean can you bring a Cheshire cat? We may need you to bake some biscuits Grandmabatty and some apple scones Stillearning.
Is there anything from Blighty you want us to bring, Grandmafrench?
Allons-y!

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 27-Jul-21 12:00:31

Result Marydoll and Pittcity our bill has been reduced by £20 and we have more channels, but have two weeks to see if we have improved coverage

Grandmabatty Tue 27-Jul-21 12:44:30

Nannagarra peanut butter cookies and lemon drizzle cake at the ready!

Marydoll Tue 27-Jul-21 13:04:09

Gwen great news! Unfortunately Mr MDoll has failed............miserably! I'm fit to be tied!!!! Why does he never listen to my advice?????

Nannagarra Tue 27-Jul-21 13:16:52

Grandmabatty ?

Stilllearning Tue 27-Jul-21 13:29:14

Nannagarra I’ll bring raspberry and chia jam for the scones, recipe from my lovely sister in law that we were staying with last week. Of course mine may not be as gorgeous as hers was but I’ll try!
Thanks for laying on the feast Grandmafrench

mrshat Tue 27-Jul-21 13:31:50

I'm a reader more so than a poster but the offer of a waist from Alizarin and a visit to Grandmafrench in the sunny south of France is very tempting! Maybe in the second tranche please? smilewink

Jaxjacky Tue 27-Jul-21 14:31:34

Nearest airport please Grandmafrench Learjet on stand by, poised for your shopping list ?

Nannagarra Tue 27-Jul-21 15:16:09

Nice one Still. ?
Anyone seen Jean with the Cheshire cat?
Alizarin - are you with us?
Ashcombe - do you mind the role of knocker upper as you post very early?
The dinghy is pea green, naturellement.
Does anyone have a runcible spoon we could borrow?

Alizarin Tue 27-Jul-21 16:06:07

I am Nannagarra but I've got to pop into the doctor's first.

Grandmajean Tue 27-Jul-21 17:36:30

Cheshire cat wriggling in my armsnannagarra

dustyangel Tue 27-Jul-21 17:50:08

Grandmafrench Do you want me to keep the waiting list for you?

Grandmafrench Tue 27-Jul-21 18:33:13

Please do, dusty - I've never seen a bunch of people so keen to set off in a dinghy to foreign parts before. It could get out of hand quite quickly, so maybe if you turn up here from Portugal, or volunteer to do the teas at your place.......
Is it, largely, a Scottish expedition? And the speed at which everyone is getting organised. Wow!

I last read the thread after lunch and DH and I were in fits of laughter. He feels, and I agree, that whilst still may be planning to arrive with delicious comestibles, and she might even go and buy a dinghy, she should NOT be in charge of driving the dinghy (temporary eyesight problems?), and we think if you want to get here by Friday, the best thing to do is bags a lift with Jax in the Learjet! Ooooh, get her! There does seem to be rather a lot of you and not sure (as I hate to fly and don't mix in such posh circles) how many seats would be available. Maybe some of you could take the place of the crew. Nearest airport, Montpellier, Jax - you'll have to liaise with dusty on numbers and keep the flight manifest. No one will be allowed to sit on each other's laps and there will be no wing-walking or hanging out of the windows! ? This is meant to be a low-key mission so that you can creep into France and then lie low in my garden.

If his was next year (oh please let this be the end of Covid), I should be so excited to be at the airport to meet you. Wouldn't we have fun!!!!!!!! Well, I would with such a bunch of crazy ladies. Hope you're having a lovely evening.

Grandmafrench Tue 27-Jul-21 18:35:21

Forgot to say......don't forget the 'small guitar'. ??

muse Tue 27-Jul-21 19:22:08

Grandmafrench Is there space for a little medium tall Cornish lass called muse? and the other one called Alizarin. If not I'll get the chopper out again?. I'm sure there's somewhere to land by her doctors. I'll adopt Air Ambulance Colours for the chopper. No one will stop us then.

Tiring day, but I've found the remains of my DD's bottle of Tanqueray orange gin in the freezer that she forgot to take home. Gin that is, not the freezer. Small glass is slowly being sipped.

Cheers Urms.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 27-Jul-21 20:01:16

Marydoll maybe you should do it? I've been trying to get DH to do it for at least a year!

Marydoll Tue 27-Jul-21 20:28:20

Gwen, he who shall remain nameless, spent THREE hours running round in circles and has now gone on strike!
He was infuriated by your success!!!! ?

Nannagarra Tue 27-Jul-21 21:01:26

Fear not Grandmafrench. ‘Tis I who bought the dinghy, int’ Home Bargains, this morning. Space for you too, muse. No need for the chopper.
Inflatable flamingos now ordered, to arrive c/o Jax’s Learjet (shh, she doesn’t know yet). At least we now know the airport!
All aboard!

I’m howling with laughter here…???
