Gosh Laura far too much excitement, I’m pleased you are healing, take care. Lovely beach pictures x

Grandmajean Fri 06-Aug-21 09:44:27

Just come back to say how pleased I am Muse that no skin cancer was found. Hope they soon get to the bottom of what it actually is.
Lauranorder - what an awful scare ! Glad it got sorted quickly.
There seem to be a lot of gransnetters having health problems. Good wishes to all of you.
Youngest two grandchildren coming later today. Have made chicken curry as they like that.

Grandmafrench Fri 06-Aug-21 09:50:07

Laura stop larking about - I’m horrified. Promise not to overdo things until you’ve completely recovered. PLEASE.
????????????????????

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
Marydoll, I was sorry to read, late last night, that you had been really poorly and not yourself. It sounds as though this morning you are a bit better, any way, fingers crossed for you, and sending a virtual {{{hug}}}
To Grandmattie, please send MrG, my best wishes for a speedy return to full health, and you the strength to cope with the aftermath.
Yesterday I felt I could cope with a bus trip to Reading. Not exactly exciting, but different. We have been looking for a large TV unit, and it seems that it doesn't exist. If I could knit or crochet it, that would be fine. So we ended up back home, only spending on coffee and a cake.
That's unheard of after a visit to John Lewis.
We had been to a local carpenter and joiner, in May, and he said , come back in August, which we did. Seems like a date in Dec or early next year is on the cards. Anyway, he has my scribblings of the sort of thing we are after.
I have started reading Chris Packham's book, Fingers in the Sparkle Jar, not easy going at first, but getting better.
Happy birthday Scentia.
Lovely reading about all your holidays and trips, I am very jealous, as hospital appointments etc make it hard to plan.
Have a good day one and all.

Good Morning to you all from a warm, but dull & damp Cambs.,

Enjoy your coach trip Mick. Good to see lots of you getting out & about again.

Thinking of you Grandmattie, I hope all goes well for you.

Also LauraNorder, sorry to hear you've had the wrong sort of adventure, Get well soon. I love those photos.

Marydoll, hope you are feeling better, & that your medication stays available & that it does it's job.

Happy Birthday Scentia, enjoy your special day.

flowers for you all.

ginny Fri 06-Aug-21 09:51:25

Laura Norder sorry to hear of your ordeal but glad it seems you are making a good recovery.

Mapleleaf Fri 06-Aug-21 09:56:22

Good morning,

It's trying to brighten a little here in South Yorkshire, but the sky is really only a lighter shade of grey than it was, and we have wet weather forecast for later.

My goodness, several of you have been in the wars lately, either yourselves or your partners - do take care, rest as much as possible and feel better as soon as possible.

?? greetings to Scentia, have a lovely birthday, and anyone else who celebrates theirs today.

Wishing you a safe journey home, Greyduster, I hope the journey isn't too wet.

What a beautiful photo, LauraNorder. The colours of the sunset are divine, and it looks so peaceful.

Glad you feel better today, Marydoll and I do hope the meds situation improves before you need more.

Well, I'd better get on. Take care.

Morning all, we actually have a sun breakthrough, but not sure it will last. Goodness GrandMattie how terrifying, glad to hear your DH is recovered. My father had a TIA in church one morning, followed by others, and ended up having the inside of his coronary arteries stripped, after which he was as right as rain. ?. Another blue lighter, Laura you must have scared the wits out of your family, they must be so relieved to have you back.
Marydoll I react to insect bites like that too, as well as oral antihistamines, you might need a stronger steroid cream from your GP, plus the self control of a saint to avoid scratching them to ribbons! Glad to hear you are feeling a bit better today.
Ash it is much better to hear about these adventures afterwards, than know about them at the time! As things stand we will be off to France next month, have paid the balance so fingers crossed OldUdders can make the trip the other way.

Happy belated birthday Scentia!?
Mick enjoy your first coach trip.

We are off to visit DS and family today to redeem DH's 'voucher' for a trip to Beale Park with them. Little Freddie just assumes that everyone has zebras within walking distance of them, he is very lucky. He is only 2 years 4 months, but so with it. There is a baby alarm camera above his bed, and he said to DS 'you can see me on that?' 'Yes' says DS. 'Then you can see me being grumpy' he said, and then promptly put on a take off of himself sticking his bottom lip out and refusing to cooperate. We never know what he is going to come out with next!

Let's hope you all have rather less exciting days today on the health front.

Dogsmakemesmile Fri 06-Aug-21 10:58:01

Sorry LauraNorder I missed your post. Best wishes for a swift recovery.Feet up time.

grandMattie Fri 06-Aug-21 11:11:09

Thank you all for your kind wished. MrgM is fine now, though I’m a little vigilant and wary of his walkabouts. He has been persuaded to have a mobile phone, albeit a dumb one!
Auntieflo, so pleased to see you posting, ditto Marydoll, Laura and everyone I have missed. May your health, morale and contentment bet on an upwards curve!
Sorry I missed the birthdays etc., belated good wishes to all ?

Good morning all from a very soggy Lancashire. We had a wonderful day yesterday exploring Pendle and the surrounding countryside. The air is so clear and fresh up there, it makes me feel wonderful. We ate our picnic sat on a very steep rock outcrop. No, I didn’t go climbing! There are a few twisty back roads that enable us to get close enough for me to be able to enjoy the views. We called into the delightful little witchy shop in Newchurch and I added 2 more books to my collection of local history books. The owner is a lovely lady, very knowledgeable about the area and happy to help. Also they have a beautiful Rhodesian Ridgeback I am fond of, he is getting on in years so good to see him still around.

We have had rain of biblical proportions this morning, starting in the early hours and ending just a few minutes ago. The sun is trying to creep out but I don’t think it will last, I can see thick black clouds heading our way.

Happy Birthday to Scentia.

How scary GrandMattie, hope all is well with your DH now.

It’s good to see you here Laura but what a shocking event for you and your family. I’m glad you were treated quickly, it makes an enormous difference to recovery. Welcome to a very exclusive Club, the qualifications are a bit tough but you made it!

Have a wonderful Friday all.

Borrheid55 Fri 06-Aug-21 11:31:03

Morning all! Showery here in Ashford, what happened to the heatwave they promised?
Well I never knew that…*Marydoll*- you and Dr Harvard! He was on tv recently in a series about unknown illnesses.
Glad you are feeling a bit more content. As to the insect bites, apparently there are more clegs around this year. Did you know about Avon Skin SoSoft as a deterrent? It has citronella in it. Even the troops pack it for foreign climes!
Quiet day planned as I had an awful night. I woke up umpteen times after trying to sleep for three hours. At one point, I was convinced I had heard the front door open. I was so frightened I couldn’t move, felt the shock from my head to my toes- that wasn’t nice. After 15 years of DH night shift, you’d think I would be used to it.
Still debating whether to go to Jerez in September. Government is going to make another travel announcement in three weeks so I will wait until that is done.
Hope all have a good day!

Grammaretto Fri 06-Aug-21 11:54:17

Good morning from a very damp Scottish Borders,
I agree baubles about Edinburgh being busy but actually it is so nice and quiet compared to a typical August with the Festival. I am making the most of it.

The tourists don't realise you have to book for some things still and I sent a couple of families off to Inverleith Park when they were turned away from the Botanics.

Gransnetters are definitely on the move so it's not surprising that places are getting crowded.

Poor grandMattie what an awful time you have been having.
Sending get well vibes to Mr gM
Sorry that you have been feeling rotten Marydoll

Happy birthday Scentia and any more . Just catching the noon post!

Thanks for the date? Mick wink

EkwaNimitee Fri 06-Aug-21 11:58:40

Hello, Mick and all from a very showery Carlisle. No gardening today I think. After being out and about a bit recently, I'm catching up on various tedious little jobs. Tesco has also delivered this morning. Items I added last night which were then in stock, were not when it came to picking so I have substitutes, fortunately nothing I don't want. I imagine the 'pingdemic' is affecting deliveries.
You sound like one tough lady, LauraNorder but don't overdo it after your scare.
amselerin, I know about having to face up to not being able to continue as before, having had to give up my beloved former garden. It's certainly not easy making these decisions and changes when you are older and you are thinking of changing countries too. I hope you have some support.
Do have a good day everyone. I'm off to deal with lunch which will involve mushrooms as I have inadvertently ordered and received double my usual supply!

Nannagarra Fri 06-Aug-21 12:05:39

Here again.
Good to hear from you this morning, Marydoll. My goodness me, the traffic on here yesterday was a testament to how highly you’re held.
Have good food and plenty to laugh about at your lunch today, Grandmabatty. I’m another fan of West Kirby, hollysteers. LauraNorder what a frightening experience for you and what a wonderful family you have. Sending my sincere wishes you feel better soon; I’d like to extend those wishes to include Grandmafrench and all others having problems atm.
My knitting needles are clacking whilst DH watches the Olympics. I accept I’ve missed the noon barrier but only just! ?
??? together with ??? and ??? from me to you all.

dustyangel Fri 06-Aug-21 12:32:29

Good just about afternoon to you all. I’ve just lost the long post I should have saved, but too late now so I’m just sending best wishes to you all and a better weekend to many as well. sunshine

NannyJan53 Fri 06-Aug-21 13:05:02

Good afternoon from a cloudy and blustery Clevedon!

Just a quick check in whilst in a cafe with WiFi .

Not had chance to read all your news, hopefully when home Monday

Wishing you all a good afternoon

glammagran Fri 06-Aug-21 15:38:18

Auntieflo we spent months looking for a stand for our 55”tv and eventually purchased this. We are very pleased indeed with it and the price is now lower than we paid. It’s available in other colour woods. Wish I knew how to make the link below work but you can cut and paste into google or similar.

glammagran Fri 06-Aug-21 15:39:09

Oh it converted it automatically!

brook2704 Fri 06-Aug-21 17:23:48

Just catching up on the news and had to wish lauranorder a speedy recovery and please take care - what a worry but hope all is ok now ?
Love the pictures - thanks for sharing!

Auntieflo Fri 06-Aug-21 19:46:45

Thank you so much Glammagran, that's kind of you.
The problem with ours is, not the TV, but the great big soundbar, that is so wide. We/I, want it to fit in a space under the TV, and lots of units do not make the sections wide enough.
DH also has a record deck that he would like to be able to fit in.
To hide all the wires would be a bonus ☺️

NanKate Fri 06-Aug-21 22:14:36

Marydoll I recently got badly bitten at least 10 times whilst in the New Forest. The pharmacists gave me numerous things but the two that turned out the best were Anthisan to stop the itching and I think even better Sudocrem. I have also bought a little yellow clicker machine from Boots which you put over the bite as soon as it has happened and you click about 8 times.

I will post this tomorrow morning in case you miss it here.
