Or at least go all gooey over one?
My mum used to love listening to the actor Alan Badel on the radio - his smooth tones absolutely “sent” her grin
I was dozing in bed last night to last weekend’s “Golden Age of Broadway” Prom on BBC Sounds - songs from all my favourite musicals but woke up to hear Clarke Peters (the actor) singing This Nearly Was Mine from South Pacific. What a beautiful rich, smooth deep voice he has, like a mug of Hôtel Chocolat cocoa, and I was well away!
If you are interested it’s about 38 minutes or so in, on last Saturdays Prom on BBC Sounds

Anton Lesser - he could read me a shopping list and I’d be quite happy to listen

James Earl Jones, Richard Burton, Anthony Hopkins for spoken words, Gregory Porter for singing.

I regularly listen to Richard Burton reading Under Milk Wood and am transported to that magical place. I have the book alongside as I listen.
But what about the ladies? Katherine Hepburn, Lauren Bacall, the throaty contralto - lovely

I'm a GP receptionist. We have a French male patient. Never met him but my colleagues and I go weak at the knees when he calls.

The opposite side of the coin for me is Joe Wicks. Screech

I can listen happily to anything Bernard Cribbins narrates.
Dan Maskell’s voice during Wimbledon coverage was a joy too.

I think that the simple answer is yes.
Some voices are memorable and some are not - all I really ask is good diction as this really is needed for the hard of hearing like me.
Radio plays in the 50s and 60s were a joy.

I love listening to Liam Neeson’s voice

MawBe, I watched the proms as well, and then watched it again yesterday. What a treat, and what a voice Clarke Peters had - so easy, with no screeching or face pulling.

mum in law met dad in law during a blackout raid during WW2 she told me she fell in love with his deep welsh voice although she couldn't see his face but made a date with him nether the less and the rest is history.

Bill Nighy has the most wonderful voice, I love listening to him.

Many years ago, whilst at work, I had to regularly deal with a person with the most beautiful voice. After some months, he invited me to lunch, a blind date..... however, the person who turned up certainly didn't match the voice. I then had to spend quite some time trying to gently extricate myself from the situation.....

A long time ago, I know, but Dirk Bogarde's voice did it for me. Alan Badel, Rick Wakeman too and definitely Bill Nighy.

Most definitely! Alan Baden and Alan Rickman were my absolute favourites. Can’t think of anyone these days who makes me feel the same.
Must be getting old !!! ?

youtu.be/0qOxYY0dDPQ I heard this for the first time at the weekend. Jeremy Northam singing Ivor Novello. Simply beautiful voice.

David Suchet reading the Bible. He makes even familiar passages so meaningful.

Yet another fan ofAlan Rickman here. Also love James Nesbitt’s Irish drawl but my favourite is the radio sports presenter Matt Williams who features on Simon Mayo’s Drivetime programme, once on Radio 2 but these days can be found on Greatest Hits Radio. His voice is so full of laughter and mischief that I find it irresistible and was so angry at the BBC for mucking about with the Drivetime programme leading to Simon and Matt leaving that I stopped listening to its replacement. Happily now have tracked it down on another station.
Another radio voice I find very comforting is that of Chris Warburton from radio 5live.

Love Richard Burton, Alan Rickman, James Nesbitt, Sean Bean and would add Pavarotti to that list. Avoid Jonathon Ross and quite a few others though. Voices are important.

Chestnut

I loved Scott Walker's voice even as a teenager.

Oh yes Chestnut. I saw him live in Glasgow in the mid 60’s. I was 4 rows from the front of the stage and couldn’t really hear him for all the screaming fans!

Kryptonite Mon 09-Aug-21 14:13:39

Just remembered - the velvety tones of Gregory Peck. ?

Dee1012 Mon 09-Aug-21 14:15:08

Andrew Scott...sheer perfection!

I have to say that actor Martin Shaw was my downfall in the voice department. I could have listened to him reading a phone book and been happy! My taste now is the dulcet Aussie voice of actor Alex O'Loughlin. He can really make my toes curl (and other parts!)

kjmpde Mon 09-Aug-21 14:33:55

I used to work with somebody that had a wonderful voice but as he rightly described it " the voice of Richard Gere but the looks of Nora Batty".
