The unvaccinated

I honestly don’t know what to believe. I had my double jab because at my age I thought it was the best option, despite fear of blood clots etc. As FarNorth says do we know for sure whether us vaccinated are less danger to others? If the vaccine is not compulsory, how can they insist on proof of it before being admitted to certain venues? I keep reading about this on fb but I get more and more confused.

Pittcity I'm wondering if negative tests for all would be a better requirement anyway - as vaccinated people can still carry the infection.

Vaccination or negative test should be the choice.

Not everybody can be vaccinated so there should be an alternative.

The only place for insisting on vaccinations as far as I can see is healthcare provision, where you might be putting the vulnerable who are already sick or frail at risk. Hep B vaccinations are usually mandatory in such situations, so I can see no reason not to include Covid jabs. It you don't want to take the vaccine, then you can find alternative employment. But I am totally against forcing everyone to take the vaccine, it only leads to resistance.

Sorry that was to OP.

Vaccinated people can carry the infection, even if they are not ill.
So I wonder if the danger is similar from either vaccinated or not.
Does anyone here know?

Unvaccinated people are the ones who are more likely to have a serious illness so perhaps if that happens to large numbers of people, some may have a re-think.

You and me both. Insisting on people being vaccinated before they can go to certain places or events is the only way to get some of them to do it IMO. However you may be sure the human rights lobby will be challenging it. I’m glad you’re vaccinated. Some people’s views are beyond belief.

I can see why some public places such as gyms and restaurants would require people to have been vaccinated but it is then very difficult for those who can't be vaccinated because of health reasons.

Surprised the headline isn’t “The Unclean” ?
I m not sure that we can force people to be vaccinated what about those who can’t for medical reasons
I know in some countries it will be made law
I believe in USA kids have to be on medication if they have ADHD and want to attend school and I don’t agree with that either, I think in some European countries kids can’t go to school without having had their childhood jabs (I d have been in a pickle as my parents didn’t give me any vaccinations as a child, I don’t know why I never thought to ask, just accepted that I wasn’t having them)
It’s a difficult one I have just one friend who has refused and I have been out to lunch with her relying on my own vaccination to protect me
As for anywhere else, cinema, workplace etc etc I ve no way of knowing who has or who hasn’t so I don’t really consider it or think about it
The numbers for being double vaccinated in U.K. are fairly high I think nearly 80% now isn’t it ?
I do wonder how long those of us vaccinated early in the year will be protected? Have they done any recent work on how long the immunity lasts ?

I have just read that in the USA in some cities they are banning people from entering restaurants, gyms and indoor space without vaccine proof. Everybody has their reason for not wanting the vaccination but I agree with what their doing by banning people. I was unsure about getting the vaccine myself, afraid of side effects etc but I went ahead, not just for me but for all those around me. I am not sure I would want to be in an enclosed, indoor space with those who choose not to be vaccinated especially as there are so many who have made this choice because of all the silly conspiracy theories, or, in a friends case political (she is a Republican) and has lost her ability to make rational decisions about anything as she only listens to the politicians.
