Ooh I can just picture the scene grandmabatty ? it sounds like very tiring but great fun with your DGS! I took my DGD to the park in the pouring rain once - she loved it too. Young children and puddles - a lovely combination!
I’m just back home after a busy morning shopping in town and then as it’s quite a nice day here I met DH for a walk along the seashore this afternoon. Popped into the tearoom too - like you do of course ?
Hoping BA is having a fabulous day and hope to see some pictures later!

Soop's welcoming and supportive kitchen for kindly folk...
(1001 Posts)Here we are yet again,
Happy as we can be...
All good friends and jolly good company.
WELCOME to our very own kitchen in which we celebrate happy occasions and support each other through the difficult times.

‘Evening All’.
Well the torrential rain we had over here petered out by lunchtime - just in time for my wash & blow at 1pm prior to our LWW afternoon in the sunshine. Yay!
I bumped into a neighbour from the block. He is Belgian - about 70y I guess. He lives out here now since 2 months ago. His English is quite good. We get by when we stop to chat in the foyer! He told me that yesterday he had been approached by two Spanish guys querying the name of a local street. He pointed to help them and afterwards realised they had pickpocketed his mobile phone... poor man. I offered mine for him to ring his family but at that moment the lovely Cesar (our gardener and odd job man) appeared and assisted. I left him in good hands.
P.s. Soory meant to say I hope your daughter’s wedding went well today BladeAnnie and that your speech went well! Nerve wracking I imagine but I bet you were proud you’d managed to deliver it!
??that the phone call went well soop.
Been so busy today with a multitude of gardening tasks. The weather's still glorious.
Slight problem with cleaning the huge expanse of slabs though. Our jet wash wasn't powerful enough. Phil is bring in his super jet wash with brush\soap attachment tomorrow. Mya got a telling off for walking over them. Will keep her on the very long lease tomorrow till all is clear.
Currently awaiting a call from DD. She has just started HRT patches and all seemed well. Very well in fact. I had a text a few hours ago. I thought it odd she hadn't sent DH (stepdad) a birthday message yesterday so I sent her a text to see if she was OK. Friday night she had to call 111. Fainting and arm numb. Paramedics took her to hospital. ECG that night. Heart rate normal just a little erratic. Back home afterwards but waiting for a call from the doctor to discuss the HRT. Thursday!!! eConsult. Fizzing heck!☹️ Times like this, I wish I was a hare's breath away from my two. DD and DGD live by themselves.
Grandmabatty young children, rain and a splash or two, magical!
I hope BA’s day has gone brilliantly and soop had a productive phone call.
muse crumbs, our children are always that close to causing us a hiccup, how scary for your DD. To answer you…tomorrow am MrJ plays golf, I will drag myself to the pool, I say drag because I’m shattered, walking today. I know it’s good for me, the amount we’ve done in the last two days plus not a good nights sleep accounts for being tired. It’s just getting used to a different bed, we both threw one pillow out during the night too. PS Blossoming, bloody slugs, there’s no end to their general yukiness ?.
I’ll love and leave you all, sleep tight x
Evening all! It’s been a terrible day today but it will have refilled the water butts!
Today was going to be the day I cleaned the bathrooms, mopped the floors and finished the ironing. Well, I did a bit of ironing …
I was awake for much of the night convinced I had Covid. In the light of day I am fine, just tired because I was awake so much!
Tomorrow we take the granddog back. She has spent most of today asleep because she really hates rain.
I hope BA’s speech was a success at the wedding. Sleep well everyone!
I hope the wedding has gone well and you’re still dancing the night away, BA!
Busy day here. I made all these annoying little phone calls today, the ones that mount up while you’re busy living life, such as booking the cat’s vaccinations and getting some repairs done.
Dh and I refilled some bean bags with polystyrene balls. Despite following a YouTube video that promised a mess-free method, of course they went everywhere. We’d taken the precaution of doing it in the garage so at least the house wasn’t covered in them. We resurrected an old but powerful hoover and the mess was soon gone. It was fun doing it all actually, and the bean bags are nice and squishy now.
Dh cleaned the indoor windows when I suddenly realised it’s my turn to hold book group this month. I managed to get hold of some old fashioned pink Windowlene and my goodness it does a far better job than any of these modern sprays. The fumes, though! I daren’t strike a match until they dissipate. ?
I emptied a wardrobe that’s going to my DD’s house later this week. I found a beautiful ladies kilt in there. A 24” waist. The days I could get into that are long gone. I might try and sell it as it’s beautiful wool fabric, made in Scotland.
What with all the other chores I’ve done today, changing beds, cleaning various items, I think I’ll sleep well tonight! Xx
Good morning soop and all kitcheners. Hope today is a good day for people. Going to attack a few little jobs around house. Plus return to OU course I let drift.. Sleeping like a log the last few days as doing more tasks/walking. So lovely to wake up feeling refreshed.
Morning All. It’s a lovely, warm sunny day, clear blue sky. Having said that Autumn is in the air
I’m being thoroughly spoiled by the Butler. Much as I appreciate it I wish he’d worry less and relax more. A bit ouchie today. To be expected. A bruise which could be mistaken for one of Soop’s sunsets
. All normal it seems.
Grocery delivery due soon, today’s excitement. If the sun shines tomorrow we may take a drive to the sea front where I can sprint
across the road to a cafe for some cake.
I’m reading all the posts, one day my memory will catch up with what I’m reading. Surely anaesthetic brain will be gone soon?
Have been wondering how the wedding was bladeannie, I share your fears about public speaking so know what a challenge it would have been. A reading is the most I’ve managed. Hope your power is restored soop and there has been a helpful health conversation. Wow that was a busy day Suedonim. Envious? Me?? Have you made it to Brean Down jax? Well worth the climb, fabulous views and an interesting fort at the end.
Apologies, that’s as much as my brain will hold for responses. Take care everyone
Granny Maw is very excited!
D3’s waters went around three this morning and I have a new baby GRANDSON! (Born around 6 I understand - she didn’t hang about!)
Midwife and paramedics arrived just in time to avoid SIL having to DIY but she got her wished-for home birth, while Otis played in his bedroom with his Auntie D2 who dashed round when it started to kick off. I am so impressed with my “little D3” who seems to have had just the birth she had planned. Not something her Mum ever managed to do.
So his birthday is the day before Paw’s - poignant but he would have been so proud of her. He never had favourites but he really meant it when he said that when she comes I “she lights up the room” I am also just so relieved it is over !
(Oh, the stats - 3 and a bit kg and lots of dark hair ??)
“Comes in…”
Congrats to all the family Maw and welcome to the little one.
“That’s the way to do it”
Congratulations to all Maw!
Congratulations to all the family and welcome to the new arrival, MayBeMaw!
How lovely to have some good news
Back from the GP surgery, BP is a magnificent 122 / 78, more blood tests mid-October. I was going to finish the cupboards but it’s such a beautiful day I may spend some time in the garden.
Glad you’re on the mend cornergran, I too find it difficult to shake off anaesthetics these days. My butler, the esteemed Mr. B, can be very overprotective. It’s hard to take when you’re used to being independent!
Many congratulations Maw, a new baby is such a precious gift and a cause for celebration.
Thinking of Panache today and hoping she is finding comfort and healing.
Good afternoon to our lovely Kitcheners. Have you lot been busy. You bet! As per, I have to play catch up.
Before I do, I just wish to say that, in spite of having no electricity until late afternoon, yesterday was a fruitful day. Mr Soop has organised a proper file in which all the gumph re drop-bot has been recorded. Going back to 2011, the first referral up to yesterday's phone call. All 35 appointments/procedures etc., in order of date. He's been so supportive.
The phone call came when I was unable to increase the volume because of the power cut. I found it difficult to follow every word from the nice lady physio. However, she agrees that physio is not going to help with my problem. It has gone too far. She is going to ring me back next week with her recommendations after chasing up the peeps who are understandingly hard pressed thanks to Covid.
I feel more hopeful, thanks to her.
Now, I shall make a valiant effort to update myself.
Huge congratulations to Maw and her family. A new little person is welcomed into the world.
Blossoming You have the BP of a youngster. Enjoy the garden. All other stuff can wait.
Urms I felt sorry for the dear man who had been pickpocketed. Some folk are without conscience.
corner Your butler sounds like a keeper.
SueDonim Snap! There was a time when my vital stats were 36, 24, 36.
Never mind!!!
muse Any further news? (hugs)
BladeAnnie How went the wedding?
Nannytopsy Do you have any left over energy to help me out? I thought not.
Jax Talking of pillows...I've ordered a GX pillow. If it gives me a good night's sleep, I shall be delighted.
Grandmabatty You are a shining star.
Hello to soop & all you lovely folk in the kitchen.
Congratulations to Maw on the birth of your new grandson.
I'm pleased to hear that your butler is so well trained, cornergran, best wishes for your continued recovery.
Warm wishes to you all, take care.
Many congratulations to Maw and family! Babies bring such joy. Soop you are indeed a lovely person who has had more trials and tribulations than any decent person should. I hope there is some relief for you.
I have visited mum this morning, then my art class in Stirling started up again. Two hours of concentration and painting happiness. I then called on ds who is heading to London on a week. He'll be there for a month. I'm now sitting quietly, contemplating a cuppa and a bun. There are blue skies outside and it's a pleasant day.
Congratulations Maw. What lovely news ?
Congratulations Maw?
How many do you have now?
I agree, that is lovely Maw. Has he got a name yet?
cornergran if the butler would like a rest, he is more than welcome to stay here. There is no sea close by but it is very quiet. I am so lucky I am not on Heathrow's flight path so he would have uninterrupted sleep.
