Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey sky but a dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Plans for the day after some housework is to get the bus to Bicester for the start of my short get away for an hour trips .
This will include a shop as well and a coffee stop.
Then return and watch the Vuelta unfold and especially watching the British riders in the race.
Take Care,
Mick

Good Morning Tuesday 17th August 2021
(48 Posts)Good morning from a decidedly gloomy E Kent. No rain though.
Ash, I was delighted to learn that your ticket is booked. That is great for you both. Hope OldD’s pain is settling
Our old sofas are being picked up between “8am and 8pm” today, so we are taking turns to go out. I’ve got tai chi this morning.
We are also having a new iron delivered as the old one sees to fuse downstairs when it decides to, def not each time it is used - I use it a lot for sewing and patchwork.
I hope all the GraMmingos have a reasonable day, especially phoenix. May your day include some ??☀️???
Morning Mick, morning All. Yet another overcast start to our corner of Somerset.
Busy day yesterday, enjoyed being chauffeur to the younger ones then spending an enjoyable, chatty afternoon with an old friend. before a tasty family meal. The afternoon made me realise how much I miss my old friends, see them rarely now.
You’d think all that activity would have ensured a good nights sleep. So why have I been awake since 4am? Catch up day today so only Mr C be treated to the sight of my washed out self,
With luck the sofa pick will be trouble free grandMattie, enjoy your trip out mick. Phoenix remains in my thoughts.
Hope Tuesday is gentle with us all.
Good morning from an overcast Black country, yesterday started the same but turned out ok. Have the boys again today so don't know the plans as yet, but I dare say it will involve the park. Yesterday we ended up at Lichfield park requested by the eldest it was fun we went on the pedalos.
Ash good to hear things are moving in the right direction. I do hope Olddudders scan was ok and they can solve his problem and make him pain free.
Well must shake a leg and get ready to pick boys up. Enjoy your day everyone and may you all find some ?.
Good morning, one and all from an overcast Torbay.
Thank you, grandMattie. Yesterday, there was no result given from olddudders’s scan, but it may be accessed online within a week or from his GP. She is on holiday for the whole of August (usual routine there) and it's a one (wo)man band! Nevertheless, he was in good spirits yesterday afternoon for our Zoom call.
I owe apologies for confusing Susan56 with NannyJan53 in commenting on the caravan trip from St. Ives. Must do better! I hope your journey to West Wales was uneventful and I’m sure MiL appreciated your company, Susan56.
Lovely photos yesterday, Mawbe! Belated birthday greetings to Grammaretto! Bad luck over the migraine, EkwaNimitee which, as you say, might well be due to the smell of the linseed oil.
I sympathise over the issue of holiday companions, hollysteers. A friend recently floated (pardon the pun) the idea of me joining her for a round Britain cruise but I declined as she likes a cabin with a balcony so she can dine in private at times. My choice would be a more basic cabin and the chance to socialise over dinner and enjoy table service. We are all different and maybe less flexible, in various respects(!), as we age.
Like madeleine45, music is important to me so you may imagine my disappointment at failing to hit the high notes in the hymns on Sunday, now that singing is permitted! I’ll have to practise at home but don’t want to frighten the neighbours!
Thank you, Marydoll, for the update on Phoenix who is in my thoughts. Take care, dear friends and my thanks for the ongoing kindly support. ???
Ash, to practise your high notes, do a “Sound of Music” thing… go for a walk and then burst into song! ?
Good morning from an overcast S Hants, enjoy your coffee out Mick and the cycling later.
Good to hear ou is upbeat Ash, sounds like his pain is under control.
grandMattie here’s hoping your sofas arrive earlier rather than later and the weather remains dry ?.
I’m hoping for news today from a good friend in hospital with possible gallbladder problems, her OH is rather uncommunicative, so I may ring directly. I’ve a voluntary drive today and some blackberries to pick, spotted a few days ago.
Have a pleasant day all, we all need some ?? as thé nights draw in. X
Good morning all from a wet North Leicestershire.
Trying to get my life in order today by making optician and dental appointments, taking the conservatory chair cushions to be recovered and looking for birthday presents for DS1's 50 birthday. Gosh, h÷'s old!!
Enjoy your days everyone, as much as you can. Loving thoughts to our lovely phoenix.
Good Morning everyone from Severnside. Wet and dismal I’m afraid. Never mind it’s going to be a day indoors because I’ve a job to do for my brother. I’m not going to even bother to go swimming.
oldd seems to be cheered by thoughts of seeing you in real life Ash and hopefully less pain.
I’m pleased to read that my screen time report was down yesterday. I spend far too much time on it.
Have a good day all and my thoughts for Phoenix. I had no idea until recent days she was so ill.
?
Good morning from a grey and drizzly East Yorkshire.
My quiet day yesterday didn’t quite work out that way. I did several wash loads, sorted old magazines out, shopped, picked blackberries and made blackberry jam. It turned out perfect if I say so myself! I used a tip I heard on a cookery spot on local radio. He said instead of equal quantities of fruit and sugar to use three quarter quantity of sugar. It gives a looser set and is obviously not as sweet . As I’ve had issues in the past with that it’s obviously where I was going wrong as it worked a treat.
Today I have coffee morning. This afternoon I have to go and find an Anniversary present for DH as it’s tomorrow so last minute or what! I will probably resort to a bottle of something alcoholic. Then a catch up with my dad today.
Thoughts to phoenix and family
Take care all
Good morning all. Polmont has blue skies again today. It's another babysitting day and I have a sore head. Tuesday routine is fish man, park, grandma's garden. Next Monday marks the next milestone in his wee life. He'll be at playgroup for a couple of hours in the morning. No parents or grandparents allowed! Have a good day all.
Good morning all, from a cool and breezy Glasgow.
This is the link to the new thread, where you can find news of our dear Phoenix.

Good morning Mick, morning all from slightly damp South Lanarkshire.
I had a very disrupted night full of disturbing dreams which I’m having trouble shaking off.
Nothing to report today so I’ll just wish you all a peaceful day.
Good morning, as kitty says it is damp here.
Hoping to walk with friends this afternoon if I can summon the energy.
Awaiting the news of a friend who has developed some very worrying symptoms. There seems to be no end to the sadness at the moment especially when seeing the scenes in Kabul!
My prayers are with Phoenix.
Good morning everyone from Cambridge where it’s grey and raining. DD1 always jokes that when I arrive I bring the Scottish weather with me!
The journey was fine with no problems.
Not sure what’s planned yet today but I’ll be taking my two DGSs out somewhere
Thank you for the link to the other thread marydoll
Thinking of everyone with worries and struggles, hope today is gentle and take care all whatever the day brings ?
Good morning from a grey, dismal Colchester.
Tuesday is charity shop volunteering day. I usually man the till to allow the manager time to get on with admin etc. There's only 2 or 3 of us as it's a tiny shop but it's usually a fun day.
Love to all x
Good morning from a overcast Black Country, where it has just started to drizzle.
Had a lovely day in Coventry yesterday with my u3a group. I have not been there since I was a child. It seems to be a curious mixture of old and new buildings.
Today I am joining friends for coffee. It is a new FB group a friend has started for local people to join up and meet for activities, like walks, lunches, dancing. Whatever ideas we all come up with really
Phoenix is constantly in my thoughts.
Good morning and it’s overcast here on the Suffolk coast.
We bade DB farewell yesterday and he said he’d had a lovely few days with us. He’s no trouble but it’s nice to get our cottage back to just me and dh. Visitors over now for a while. I did promise our friends to come for a few days but that will have to wait now until maybe late September.
We all seem to be a bit subdued on here today. Thinking of Phoenix and wishing her peace and no pain. ?.
Love to all ❤️
Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is raining.
Yesterday I managed to organise dental treatment in the Lake District. This sounds like a simple task but it wasn’t. Today I need to book a programme of fitness classes which resume in September. The slot I want has been announced but doesn’t appear in the ‘select and book’ section. ?♀️ I’m still missing my daily swim but friends’ reports of local pools are off-putting. (I’m certainly not tempted to go in the sea!) A close friend has made contact, inviting me out on guided walks. Life is looking better.
Thinking of those who need a gentle hug and wishing phoenix is comfortable. Take care.
good morning everyone from a rather grey and overcast sky threatening rain. well it will save watering the garden if it does. I am creaky as usual but in a better mental frame of mind, as went to the music practise last night. Not a choir practise as such although a lot of members of one choir but a get back to music and improve our voice after this long gap from singing. We were working on high voice and it was very good. she is a good teacher and when you are all there supporting each other you relax and "have a go" so you dont tighten the throat and find that you can do more and better than you thought. So a great joy to be singing again and be with others who love music. This has given me the impetus to risk having a go , carefully , at doing a bit in the little garden bit I have and a mutual border. Will have to take care because of my back but determined to at least start ! How music can help life along for me! I have to work out now how to get my practising in. Having lived in a house with a piano and a big garden I could play the piano or music and do the more boring practise scales etc with the doors and windows shut and then would always be singing outside. Here sadly have no piano, am in a ground floor flat and must be mindful of my neighbours so will need to work out other ways. One thing I have always been able to do is when I go up my beloved Swaledale can sit up the top of the dales and only have the sheep and the curlews and oyster catchers to disturb. At one place I lived in I had permission to practise in a local church so that may be an avenue to explore. So a more positive view of life today. Much prefer music to pills to brighten life. So I am also going to go swimming with a friend today. She is shortly going into hospital for a hip operation and is trying to make the most of the time before that to keep as fit as she can. A very independent and private person, we became friends through swimming. She lives alone as I do and we are there for each other so I shall be there for her when she is in hospital and when she comes out, and hoping all will go well with her. Wishing you all a good day whatever the weather throws at us .
Good morning from a dry but dull day in N. Bucks.
Yesterday I did quite well with the housework a friend called unexpectedly so that gave me a good excuse to stop.
I have a zoom session and a Bakewell tart to make this morning. A trip to the secure field with visiting dog early afternoon and some craft to finish off.
Wishing you all a smile within your day.
A dull and drizzly day here in Cheshire.
Hair cut this morning ( dry trim as am one of those strange people who doesn't enjoy a trip to the hairdresser.) Then quick trip to Waitrose for a top up shop.
DH playing golf. I wondered if it would be "rained off" but apparently that rarely happens.
I have found the thread about Phoenixand , although I am fairly new on Gransnet , the warmth of feelings for her are very clear. She sounds a fantastic person. I hope she is pain free and comfortable.
Good morning from a wet Morecambe Bay. I hope it improves as I’m meeting DS2 and we are going off to the coast for the day. I need to renew my railcard. Hopefully I’ll use this one. My last one sat unused for virtually a full year.
Prayers for Phoenix and her family. Thank you Marydoll very thoughtful of you to start the other thread.
Take care everyone and stay safe ?
Good morning from a cooler day in Glasgow.
I will take advantage of a breezy day to hang out bed linen and a potter about in the garden.
A difficult thread for you to start I know, thank you Marydoll. Phoenix is in my thoughts with every day that passes. ❤️
Good morning Auntyflo and all x
