Good Morning Everyone,
Its a grey sky but a dry start here in Brackley this morning.
Plans for the day after some housework is to get the bus to Bicester for the start of my short get away for an hour trips .
This will include a shop as well and a coffee stop.
Then return and watch the Vuelta unfold and especially watching the British riders in the race.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning from Shropshire.

Thank you for all your lovely messsages.Yesterday went as well as could be expected. It was good to be with DH’s family. We got things sorted for the funeral next week.

Today I will be getting everything up to date in the house and with admin. We will be looking after the children for the rest of this week so DD can get ahead with work as we will be unable to look after them next week.

Thinking of Phoenix and all with illness, sadness and worries.

Good morning all from grey, drizzly and cool N Bucks.
You will be exhausted Susan from your journey yesterday, it is lovely when families rally together at times of grief, but you may find that you will soon be “running on empty” so look after yourselves too.
Normal service has been resumed at Broon Banks so it’s a large mug of tea and Rosie curled up beside me in bed while I catch up on everybody’s news.
Wishing you all a pleasant day !

harrigran Tue 17-Aug-21 08:52:18

Good morning from an overcast NE.
Slept in this morning and my hairdresser is coming at 10am.
DH's hospital appointment wasn't good, his blood test showed his platelet count was down and he will have be to be checked again on Wednesday. There is some doubt as to whether the chemotherapy will go ahead.
Kind thoughts to all.

Good morning from Essex by the sea where it is grey and overcast. Summer seems to have passed by this year and the nights are now drawing in.

DH has already gone to his boat and I have admin to do this morning.

I am hoping to finish my latest cross stitch this afternoon as I have a new one about to be delivered.

When DH returns with the car I need to go and pick up our accounts from the accountant, take some books to the charity shop and get a few things in Asda.

Have a pleasant Tuesday whatever you may be doing xxx

Good morning lively Gransnet folks I’m running behind today well not exactly running -I wish - thinking at least of getting up when the carer comes in. She’s late too. It’s pretty dull and overcast this morning but I think the sun may pop out this afternoon like it did yesterday here on the east coast of Fife. Yesterday was a gorgeous afternoon

I had a delicious steak pie mashed potatoes and cabbage with lots of gravy for dinner last night followed by a plain yogurt with added fruit and again I’m hungry. Methinks himself is going to cook me a rasher or two of streaky bacon for breakfast after my shower yum yum

Have a good day all ye who read this post ???May your day be filled with kindness and goodness

Mapleleaf Tue 17-Aug-21 09:16:17

Good morning all,

A damp, grey start to the day here today. Not sure if the wash I have on today will dry outside, unlike yesterday's which dried beautifully outdoors. We'll see, it might dry up enough, it looks as if the paths are drying up, which is a good sign.

Have a good day everyone ?.

Greyduster Tue 17-Aug-21 09:23:58

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Damp and grey in South Yorkshire today. A walk down to the supermarket this morning followed by jobs around the house. I bought some watercolour pencils yesterday, so I might find some time to give them a whirl. Ages since I used any, but they can be very effective.
Enjoy your day folks.

Good morning all from, to steal one of Grandmafrench’s phrases the “ sizzling south”. Only this time it’s of Portugal ??. It has been almost 40° at times in the last few days and although we try to resist turning on the air con until the afternoon, then we put it on with the shutters down and while the afternoon away.

B9exchange Tue 17-Aug-21 09:48:38

We too have damp and grey in SW Herts.
so many tributes on the new Phoenix thread already, thank you MaryDoll for starting that one. Only 10 days till you can really cheer up OldUdders Ash, have I got that right? Harri it must feel like back to square one, let's hope Wednesday's test is better.

DD gets back from Italy today, so will get some shopping in for her return and drive it over to her house. Too wet for gardening at the moment, so no excuse not to tackle the ironing!

I think I might take a break from the news, apart from giving to refugee charities there is absolutely nothing I can do about the tragedy unfolding in Afghanistan, and yet every time I watch it I feel so helpless and frustrated. Sorry, this is meant to be an upbeat thread!

Hope the weather picks up and something lovely happens for everyone today.

Auntieflo Tue 17-Aug-21 09:49:03

Good morning Mick, Annie and all.
Rather overcast here, but hope it will at least stay dry.
To hospital this afternoon for my infusion and chemo tablets. How quickly that week off, between treatments flies by.
I also have a bit of a battle with the company that installed our stair lift. After paying the balance IN FULL, I received a request for a further sum of money. As I have all the invoices, and paperwork from the visit by the representative, THEY are trying to sort it out? ?
Have a good day one and all.

BlueSapphire Tue 17-Aug-21 09:51:52

Good morning everyone from a very grey and damp Northampton. Up late this morning to make up for yesterday's early start - which was to no avail as my yoga lift failed to appear - again. I shall have to make other arrangements, or I shall never get there at this rate. It is now 5 or 6 weeks that I have missed.

Had a delicious lunch yesterday at a friend's, and managed to stay chatting till 4.30! Didn't need to cook yesterday evening, just cheese and biscuits followed by fruit.

Have just had to order a new kettle, as the on/off switch has just broken off. That's the second thing to break this morning as the push button on the loo has also broken off - fortunately it is still flushable

Health walk this afternoon where I shall try not to fall over! Then a quick visit to the shop to return the underwear I bought on Saturday.

Thinking of all with worries, especially dear Phoenix.

hollysteers Tue 17-Aug-21 10:09:44

Good morning Mick and all from a grey blustery Lancashire coast.
Off to folk club tonight, restarting in the FLESH, so very exciting. Will keep away from each other though, not the usual snogging ?
Amused on my shopping trip into the village yesterday as I went into the chemist for cod liver oil. Not having it, they sent me to the health shop, which did. Likewise, I popped into the greengrocers for caraway seeds and not having them, they directed me to the health shop, which did. I like to sprinkle them on my carrots.
Thoughts to Pheonix Gramaretto on your first bittersweet birthday alone and to all with worries.

GrannyGravy13 Tue 17-Aug-21 10:18:26

Morning Mick and all

Have just sat down with a latte, will catch up on the rest of this friendly thread.

Still full at Gravy Grange, added to which it’s raining and grey ☔️

Keep safe and well folks ?‍♀️?

Blossoming Tue 17-Aug-21 10:21:36

Good morning all from a cool damp Lancashire. I have had to use the tumble dryer this morning for the first time in months. Glad things seem to be going in the right direction Ashcombe and I will keep my fingers crossed for you Harrigran. Enjoy your walk BlueSapphire and no face planting today! My walk will probably be a very short one between raindrops. Stay safe all, I hope we all manage to find some joy in life today ?

GrannySomerset Tue 17-Aug-21 10:51:10

Awaiting the arrival of very old friend and her son, who is driving her from his home in Devon to hers in Northampton. A light lunch will help break the journey and I am so looking forward to seeing a friend I have not seen since her husband’s funeral over three years ago.

After visits from DD and co and then ex-DiL and DGS we are quite overcome with sociability. DH has certainly slept better.

A mixed bag of posts this morning so thought to all those sad, worried or not well.

Gwenisgreat1 Tue 17-Aug-21 11:02:33

Good morning all from grey skies of Harrogate
I finally finished the pinafore for my DGD she tells me she will not wear it! Thanks a lot!
Well my posting has just been interrupted by a welcome call from my sister. I’m hoping to get a call from PC World to say my workbook is ready for collection. My endearing GS last week meddled with it and inadvertently let Malware take over, I was assured last week by a technician that it had been removed, but it reared its ugly head again at the weekend. It’s so much easier than my iPad or phone!

Thank you Marydoll for making the link for Pheonix
At last DH has returned from walking the dog. He ends up carrying her. I’m trying to make a sling for him to carry her, making it up as I go along

Have a good day folks and keep well!

Nortsat Tue 17-Aug-21 11:22:48

Good morning Mick and the GM team from a grey east London.

I have birthday presents to wrap and post, to family members in the North East.
I am recovering from a hospital stay last week, am much better but a bit wobbly on my legs ... I expect from being in bed for most of the week.

We watched an interesting film at the weekend called The Lucky Ones, about soldiers ending their tour of duty in Iraq. It’s not grim (thankfully) but interesting and probably prescient. Worth looking out for, I think.

Wishing all of the GM team a pleasant day.
Phoenix is of course, in my thoughts.

hollysteers Tue 17-Aug-21 11:23:44

madeleine45 Can I recommend a voice belt box on Amazon etc, which dampens the sound when you are practising.
I’m lucky here, detached and large garden, but still use it when visitors or family stay. Good for travelling too if you need to keep your voice in shape.
It’s not perfect, or as good as singing out, but at least you can get on with your singing.

Feelingmyage55 Tue 17-Aug-21 12:01:49

Good morning from a wet and grey north of Scotland. I have just been tidying the shed. Thought I’d tackle it for half an hour and two hours later here I am. It’s a big shed!
Anyway I actually feel invigorated by the achievement.
It has been a sad few weeks here due to family bereavement but time to get on with things.
madeleine45 What about an electric piano? You can alter the volume, tone or use earphones. Because there are no strings they are quieter anyway. I have one now and had to compromise because it is so difficult to get a tuner at all never mind a good one.
gingster subdued is just right. Thinking of phoenix.
Have discovered Chesapeake shores on Netflix. Comfort TV.
Best wishes to all especially those unwell or who are looking after someone who is.

Grammaretto Tue 17-Aug-21 15:05:45

Hello everyone from Sunny Scotland. I am very late but wanted to thank you all so much for my birthday greetings. I was not looking forward to being alone and I arranged to meet a friend in Edinburgh where we tried to find and failed some Festival atmosphere but at least it was sunny so we sat outdoors and had a nice meal. I'm another year older and wiser now.
Watch out!

To Susan flowers

The voice mask looks interesting Hollysteers
Yoga on zoom is great for making loud groans and sighs because we are all muted. How it will be if we ever go back to the school hall - I dread to think.

Good healing wishes to all those with worries just now.

Grandmabatty Tue 17-Aug-21 15:10:32

Happy birthday Grammaretto. I must have missed this

muse Tue 17-Aug-21 18:01:06

Good evening to Mick and Morningstars.
I've finally rested my weary bones and put my feet up but it's been a very successful day.

Back to my usual posting tomorrow but a quick note to Jax. Hope you have some good news about your friend in hospital.
And for Susan. Glad all the funeral arrangements went smoothly. You and the family take care. ?

A few more threads to read and a few posts to make but it will be another early night as I'm up early to take my darling Mya for her scan.

Grandmabatty Tue 17-Aug-21 18:19:11

I hope the scan goes well *Muse". I'll keep my fingers crossed
