Phoenix: An updated Thread.

Some of you may have missed the thread started by our cherished friend, Phoenix, informing Gransnetters of her illness and the reason for her recent absence from GN. It has been suggested that a new thread is started, directing her friends to the original thread, where she let us know of her terminal diagnosis.

Sadly, Phoenix is no longer able to read your messages or PMs, but has said how she, her family and close friends have found comfort in the love and support, you have shown her.

This thread will try and keep you all updated, with news provided by a Gransnetter, who is in daily in contact with the family.

A heartbreaking time for us all.

Phoenix's kindness to me when I needed to travel on crutches to Devon to see my Dad in hospital came out of the blue and was much appreciated - luckily I was able to call on my family to help - but she offered straight away - and did not know me from Eve!

And at one time we had a fierce scrabble tournament going on - a daunting opponent as you can imagine!

I am with you in spirit Phoenix.*

So sorry to hear the news of Pheonix, who, as others have said, is always instantly recognisable by the title of her often hilarious threads!

I don’t really know anyone on gransnet but I did read Phoenix’s post and thought “what a brave lady”. This is so very sad but I would join others in wishing her pain free peace. ?

She’s slipping away to be reunited with her beloved boy. Which doesn’t make it any easier for those that love her and those of us that will miss her. Sad beyond belief….

Good night Phoenix, you are in my thoughts.

I’ve been thinking about Phoenix a lot too. Also thinking of MrP who will be lost without her. ?.
I remember my tears of laughter reading all those threads when the long suffering MrP was sent out on shopping trips only for him to return home, to an exasperated Phoenix, with something completely different . The love and affection just shone through the words.

I think that is what is happening, SueDonim - a career is reading messages to her x

In that case please assure Phoenix that her Gransnet family is with her every breath of the way. Rest easy dear lady ?

I haven't been on Gransnet for quite some time and the first thread I saw tonight was this one.
Dear Phoenix, lovely lady you have given me many a laugh!
God bless! X

It's lovely to see so many posts saying that Phoenix is being kept in so many GNetters thoughts. She would be delighted to see us all here and, if able to, would probably be making a self deprecating comment about how surprised she was. I'd like to think that, somehow, she knows we're here thinking of her.

Thank you dear Phoenix, for the wonderful fun, bless you xxxxx

I read more than I post but I have seen some of Phoenix’s wonderful posts over the years and have been following this and the previous thread.
Her courage and humour in sharing the news of her illness and her funeral plans are beautiful. I have been thinking of her and her family and all all on here, especially those of you who are particularly close to Phoenix.

SueDonim

Thank you, Marydoll & Lisagran. The very thought has made me teary. ?

As are many of us, Sue. It's so difficult to comprehend and deal with.

Crossed posts, Lisa!

Marydoll Tue 17-Aug-21 19:10:57

Rest assured, Sue, she knows the impact she has had on our lives and how much love there is for her on here.

glammagran Tue 17-Aug-21 19:10:00

I don’t read GN everyday but would like to say how very sorry I am to hear of how unwell Phoenix has become. I’m thinking of her and wishing her a serene, comfortable and pain free time she has left. ?

How sad that Phoenix is slipping away as we ‘speak’ on here. ?

It struck me, though, that this thread is full of the kind of things people usually say after someone has died and so will never hear them. If her carers are able to communicate these comments to her, Phoenix will know that she has brought joy to the lives of so many. What a legacy to leave. ❤️

Thank you Marydoll for doing this.

I wish Phoenix a peaceful journey.
