Good Morning Everyone,
Its looking like another cloudy day here in brackley also had overnight rain.
Yesterdays bus trip out was a change of plan , I went to Bicester earlier, so had to pay a fare, but returned via Buckingham ,and taking a village route back on another bus , where most of the East/West Rail and HS2 work is taking place , its been 18 months since I last went that way and changes very noticeable, I had a coffee in Buckingham before getting the bus home.
Today, housework plus small shop ,and the Vuelta later on TV.
Take Care,
Mick

Good morning all from bright and breezy HARROGATE
Still without my Mac Workbook, so struggling with phone and iPad.
May go to Knaresborough market this morning, lovely fruit and vegs there, and it’s a pretty town. Hopefully will pick up my workbook on the way home.
Making a sling for the dog failed. Might buy something to hold her when she is too tired to walk. She’s getting old like me and wears out quickly.
Happy Anniversary grandmadinasaur.
Good to hear Olddudders is improving Ash
Thinking of Pheonix Hope today is a painless day for all

Good morning from a damp and chilly Northampton. Just been watching one of the cats who is glaring through the window at an intruder cat in the garden!

Had a good walk yesterday without a tumble(!) followed by a nice coffee and chat. Then down to the shop to return the clothes that I bought on Saturday and didn't fit.

Ha Ash, thought I was going to have to replace the electric can opener yesterday as it struggled to open a tin of salmon. Which reminded me that I don't have a spare manual one, so must get one in my next shop.

The new cat litter tray arrived yesterday so I put it together and placed it next to the old one until the cats get used to it. One of the cats used it straight away.

A morning of pottering then shall walk up to our afternoon activity club after lunch. Shall take my knitting and have a good natter. New kettle arrives today.

Hoping all have a good Wednesday.

Good morning all from Polmont. It's breezy and bright. The forecast is for more sunshine.
Happy anniversary to Grandmadinosaur and her other half. I hope you both have a lovely day. Good to hear that your dh had a better night Ashcombe.
Yesterday was a challenge! The boy wonder took off in the park, racing as fast as his toddler legs could go while his unfit grandma followed. I used my teacher voice to no avail- the tiny mite ignored all my entreaties to stop. So I followed him through ditches, up hills, under (many) trees and through long grass where I nearly lost sight of him. The park is built round Antonines wall and I felt like an ancient Roman before I finally grabbed him. He, of course, thought it all a splendid game and was chuckling away. In the afternoon he bolted again when we were talking to the neighbours and became excessively wriggly. I foresee a future in reins for the Great Escaper.
Today should be quieter. I'll visit mum and she'll want to go over her birthday meal last Saturday. Then I'm going to see a friend for coffee. This afternoon I will be mostly pottering and resting. Chicken curry for tea. Have a good day all.

grandMattie Wed 18-Aug-21 08:14:44

Batty, DS2 was an escape artist too. In desperation, I attached bells to his ankles. He was delighted and I could hear where he was when he disappeared! ?

Good morning everyone, the sun has got it’s hat on from the east coast of Fife long may it last. I’m having my usual sit in hours today to allow my DH freedom to go play. ^wink

I’ll be getting my case packed for my not so dirty weekend away in Aberdeenshire I’m so looking forward to tomorrow’s car journey to the hotel where we’ll both be pampered with good food and hotel luxury.smile wine

Yesterday was a fatigue day which isn’t very nice at all it’s not your usual tiredness but something unexplainable. Hope I’m up for my zoom chat this morning I’ve missed a couple these past few weeks due to various issues.

Have a good day all you lovely listeners, take care and be kind to yourselves. flowers

Grandmabatty Wed 18-Aug-21 08:20:10

Grandmattie???

harrigran Wed 18-Aug-21 08:21:37

Good morning from a dry and brightening NE.
I spent the night in the spare room because DH had to set alarm to take tablets at 4am. As it happens I woke at 3am and couldn't go back to sleep so I read a lot of my novel and a magazine, I also made the mistake of reading the news on my phone.
DH will attend the chemotherapy unit this afternoon where they will check his blood and tell him whether he can continue with his chemotherapy. It is extremely worrying, I know first hand because I had my treatment stopped when I developed a PE.
My thoughts are with Phoenix and her family.

Susan56 Wed 18-Aug-21 08:25:18

Good morning from Shropshire.

We have the children today.I was going to take DGD into town while grandpa stays at home with H.They are now coming with us as DH needs his glasses adjusting.Grandmabatty we got some gruffalo reins from Amazon for H.

I have hopefully attached a picture of H at his Christening a couple of weeks ago.He loved the water!

Glad that olddudders is feeling better.Thoughts with all unwell and those with worries about family members?

??for Phoenix. As others have said grandmattie you have expressed my thoughts perfectly.

Susan56 Wed 18-Aug-21 08:28:11

Happy anniversary to grandma and grandpadinosaur.???

Grandmabatty Wed 18-Aug-21 08:34:45

Susan that's a lovely photo.

LauraNorder Wed 18-Aug-21 08:41:31

Good morning from a still and grey Anglesey which seems fitting as we all, with a heavy heart, think of Phoenix with sadness and great affection.
No more to say this morning.

Oldbutstilluseful Wed 18-Aug-21 08:50:32

Good morning from a very dull North Hampshire. Such a comfort reading this daily thread. Ordinary folk doing ordinary things with a background of love for Phoenix and her family flowing through.
So pleased OD is feeling better Ash. Not long now, thankfully, and you’ll be reunited. Best not hug him too hard!
Not much on, a chatty craft circle this afternoon which is always a pleasure.
Be kind to yourselves and have as good a day as possible

Good morning Mick, morning all from cloudy South Lanarkshire.

I’ll have to give myself a shake today, I spent yesterday in the doldrums for absolutely no reason. DH was golfing so I told Alexa that I was feeling sad - she advised me to go for a walk which I did. grin grin

Thank you Ash, I did, other than the little pooch barking at 2.30 am as she urgently needed to go out. A friend had given me some dog chews one of which pooch had after her last walk yesterday evening. I’m afraid it violently disagreed with her. DH got up and took her out, bless him.

My DGDs go back to school today, eight weeks exactly since their last day. I’m hoping this year is more normal for them.

Leftover beef casserole for us today but I’m going to make a chicken curry for tomorrow, half of which I’ll take to DS.

Happy anniversary Grandmadinosaur, enjoy your day.

I feel your pain*Batty*, DS was a frequent escapee as a toddler, I had trouble catching him on many an occasion and I was as fit as a flea then. I wish I’d thought of Mattie’s solution. grin

DH is going to DS’s house today to help him put up some new kitchen cupboards having forgotten that he’d arranged for a joiner to come and assess a crack which has appeared on our staircase so I’ll be confined to barracks until he’s been.

As ever I wish everyone a peaceful day, especially Phoenix.

Anniebach Wed 18-Aug-21 08:54:18

Good morning Auntyflo and all x

Greyduster Wed 18-Aug-21 08:55:44

Good morning, Michael and all GNs. Cloudy here in South Yorkshire. We were going to go for a walk this morning, but GS and SiL are in the vicinity and have asked if they can call in for a cuppa, so I am not about to say no! They are off for a long weekend tomorrow. We picked more blackberries yesterday. I have had to promise DH that it will be the last lot - he’s covered in scratches!
Happy Anniversary Grandmadinosaur and her DH??.
?? for Phoenix.
A good day to one and all.

Mapleleaf Wed 18-Aug-21 09:09:51

Good morning all,

It's a very blustery and cloudy day today in South Yorkshire with hints of sun now and again. Feels cool, too. More like autumn than late summer.

Not sure what's on the agenda today, I'll just see what unfolds.

Happy anniversary Grandmadinosuar and Mr Gd. ???. Enjoy your day.

? for Phoenix and her family.

Take care everyone.

Gelisajams Wed 18-Aug-21 09:11:44

Good morning from a cool cloudy Morecambe Bay. Happy Anniversary MrandMrsDinosaur are you going to offend the neighbours with an enormous alabaster statue? ?
Glad Olddudders is improving Ash.
I’m off gardening in Keswick again. Hope we don’t get stuck in the gridlocked traffic like we did last week. DH isn’t gardening with me he’s off on a long walk and will meet up with me later.
Take care and stay safe everyone ?

Grandmadinosaur Wed 18-Aug-21 09:21:16

Ha ha Gelisajams now that’s an idea. They wouldn’t be offended they are not who we would choose for neighbours I’ll say no more except they would be jealous ?
Thank you all for your messages

Blossoming Wed 18-Aug-21 09:22:31

Good morning all from a cold grey Lancashire. No plans for today, stay safe all.

Grandmajean Wed 18-Aug-21 09:25:55

Late posting today. DH has a bit of a cold so I advised a Covid test. Had to nip along to DS and DIL's house ( five minute drive ) as we don't have any ! They are all on holiday in Skye but I had permission to go and get the tests ( both kind ) Took me forever to find them . DH is now procrastinating but will do it. I have taken myself off to my study ( used to be daughter's bedroom ) to keep out of his way or I will gently persuade ( nag ) him to get on with it !
Glad your DH had a better night Ash
Wishing you a very happy dayGrandmadinosaur
Beautiful picSusan
Hope the chemo can continueHarrigran
Will come back and read posts properly later.

Grammaretto Wed 18-Aug-21 09:30:02

Good Morning all from the Scottish Borders where we had a warm and sunny day yesterday.
The schools go back today and the weather elves always keep the best for now and also during exam time. Do you remember?

H looks very interested Susan56 as though he might like a dip.
Thanks again for my birthday greetings. I got through it.
Another "first". An artist friend made me cry as she gave me a drawing she had done of the back of DH's head with his tousled hair, during a concert, years ago.

I had an escaper too gmbatty. He kept me slim and now he lives 12,000 miles away.

Marydoll I fear you may be right about the drug company.

Happy anniversary grandmadinosaur ♥♥

Thoughts are with Phoenix and her family.

olddudders Wed 18-Aug-21 09:30:28

Just a drive-by to thank so many of you for your kind thoughts. I had a poor night but back-pain was hardly part of it. The prescribed Diazepam I take at bedtime seems to knock me out for about three hours, but I am then awake for a bit, and the bit lasted until about 7.30 when I dozed off again! Suffice to say, wearing my abdominal brace - this year's fashion essential, don't ya know - I managed to add a kilo of salt to the dishwasher without undue hardship. Onwards and upwards!

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 18-Aug-21 09:58:37

Good morning everyone. Dull but dry in the Scottish Borders.Childcare duties Monday and Tuesday hence no posts. I was embarrassingly shattered. Being on crutuches has turned me into a lumbering lump. GS suggested I use a wheelchair and then said "..or perhaps a skateboard". It is his first day of school today and his dad just sent photos of a smiling little boy. Greatly relieved as he seemed rather reticent yesterday regarding the subject. Have had insomnia for years now and listen to the World Service a lot. Heard of a dementia service in Edinburgh think) called Lingo Flamingo. Learning a second language/being bilingual of great use apparently in helping people with dementia communicate and multi task. Only saying this as I know many people here seem to have an affinity for flamingoes (or is it flamingos?). I am thinking of all you. This little place means a great deal to me. Special thoughts for all of you obviously concerned for Phoenix who is obviously an amazing woman.x

Dogsmakemesmile Wed 18-Aug-21 09:59:30

(I think) not Edinburgh think

Georgesgran Wed 18-Aug-21 10:11:36

Good morning from a bright, blue sky Durham - we seem to have the better weather today.
Funeral yesterday for friend’s Mother - without a hitch. Had a bad incident with IBS on Monday night but managed the service, but didn’t hang around for the refreshments. SinL staying all week - she’s very deaf and I can barely speak today, having to shout and repeat myself constantly.
Garden Centre visit this morning then seeing DGS1 later.
?*The Dinos*
?Harri - I remember all this so well - hope chemo goes ahead.

Concur with MD’s Latin phrase. Make the best of your time too. X
