Getting dark!

Love all the seasons!! Having lived in the Far East & Middle East in the 70s & 80s I missed the all various weather we experience in north-east Scotland! Four seasons in one day sometimes, but adore it!!

I've still got the fans on but I put that down to the menopause!!
I love snuggly winter days but, equally, I love hot, lazy summer days.
All I all: I just love living!!

Oh absolutely. Yes, it is grey and dingy all the time here at the moment, feeling distinctly wintery - chilly as well... definitely not August weather.

Sunset gets earlier as the Summer moves towards Autumn. Lighting-up time (remember that?) is also earlier than a couple of weeks ago

I've been watching bats flitting around before 9pm this week, It seems no time since I was looking out for them around 10pm.
I'm hoping they are not in our loft, but can't tell/see where they are flying from.

I really love the Autumn and Winter.
I like the dark anyway. I feel really peaceful in the evening and night.
Similarly in the Autumn and Winter.
I think it is when I don’t feel the pressure of expectations.
Nothing better than lighting a fire; my cat thinks so too!

Only less than 2 weeks ago, we were sitting outside in the garden, it was well past 9.30 before dusk set in. Now it seems to be around 8pm!

Let's all enjoy the fact that we are still around to make the most of each day. Wow that sounds serious ???

Stop concentrating on what seems to depress most of you and think positive, the clocks don't change until October, the beginning of next week looks sunny, and think of those lovely cosy evenings with friends, a good book, film or outing to your nearest town/village hall or community centre to join in activities, and if there aren't any organise some! I like the fact we have different seasons, stops boredom!

Autumn-bring it on! Spring and summer days and evenings are lovely of course, but by this time of year I am always looking forward to the delights of the autumn/winter season. Falling leaves, autumn fruits, the hazy skies. Then there is Halloween and fun with the gc, Guy Fawkes Night and the beautiful firework displays and then -oh joy!- Christmas, my very favourite time of year! I love a gorgeous summer with all the freedom it offers, but I think that I prefer the end of the year, dark evenings and all. Perhaps it is because I was an October baby?!

Yes, it seems that, suddenly, I am pulling down the blinds in the evening. We seem to have many more darker days and days of indifferent weather than bright sunny ones. You can tell it depresses me. It's worse for me now because my late DH and I used to spend the winter months in Spain and did so for 20 years. Something I hope to continue if Covid ever permits that. Meanwhile I shall have to work on changing my mindset and try to like the winter months.

Autumn & Spring are definitely my favourite seasons so I’m a happy bunny as we march on towards Autumn plus nearer to getting my oap in May ??

It certainly seems to be getting darker earlier in the evening and for longer in the morning - I suppose it seems more noticeable this year as we seem to have lost the sunshine and blue skies sooner - the grey skies seem to make it darker. I quite like autumn overall, but, like many, find the grey skies oppressive.

I think it's cloud cover, it's gloomy all day in the midlands.

I don’t object to Autumn and Winter but Autumn seems unto have come early this year. I’m not ready to let Summer go yet.

So so depressing

I know some people feel this way but I find climate change and season shifting far more depressing.

I do like autumn but not in August, we need some warm sun on our bones before winter sets in

We never really had a Summer this year and the thought of winter is depressing. I hate the cold and love heat and humidity. BUT……let us all remind ourselves how lucky we are compared to people in so many other countries.
We don’t have hurricanes, earthquakes, great forest fires or other major climate disasters, and we are free to more or less do and say what we like. I tell myself that daily…but still hate the cold, dark days.

I would often visit my grandma and find her sitting in twilight gloom, she would say 'it's not lighting up time yet'!

We jumped straight from a never ending wet spring weather to autumnal weather it seems...be christmas soon.?

Yes. autumn has come early this year and thanks to unseasonably fresh winds my porch is full of leaves. Not usually a problem in August. Hello climate change. Chilly in the mornings and evenings too. Winter draw(er)s on as my grandmother used to say.

I only mentioned to my friend, who is melting in the horrendous temperatures in Gibraltar, that Autumn has arrived in the middle of August.
Very strange!
Keep hoping we might have an Indian Summer.
