Good Morning Thursday 19th August 2021

Good morning everyone from a very dull and overcast Northampton.

Still taking in the sad news about Phoenix......

Yesterday turned out nice and sunny, so enjoyed a walk to and from the Well-being cafe. Took my knitting and had a good natter with friends. When I got home I cut the back grass, as today is garden waste bin day.

The usual pottering this morning, and a Sainsburys delivery. Will sit and read this afternoon as I must start my book club read. Then out for a health walk this evening followed by dinner at the pub.

Sad thoughts today.

Good morning and the weather seems to fit the mood here on GN. Thoughts go to the family and friends of Phoenix. She was obviously well loved. That’s all we can ask of a life well lived. ❤️.

Clearing cupboards and hopefully throwing stuff out today. Yesterday we did the pantry/glory hole. We could feed a third world country with the packets and tins we uncovered. Dh is a coffee freak. 12 jars/cans of his favourite. He buys it when it’s on special offer. ?.

Let’s all have a positive day with happy thoughts and memories of lost loved ones. ?

Greyish morning but likely to be dry so washing can go out. Chiropodist coming this morning, then carer to stay with DH this afternoon whilst I do something (anything!) else. Likely to be the supermarket trip as a succession of visitors have eaten us out of everything - apart from runner beans which are going great guns and supplying the neighbourhood.

DH getting stroppy about the carer but he really will have to accept her presence. She is a cheerful, sensible young woman but all he wants is to know where I am, which is intolerable. I foresee a trying morning.

This has been a sad thread and I am touched that so many cared about Phoenix even though they never met her. Amazing to have had a positive impact on so many lives.

Good morning from a lovely sunny Vale of the White Horse, annual health review today, I don’t remember having one before but there you go.
Doesn’t look as though the GCs will be up for my birthday Saturday as GD has symptoms of Covid and they probably won’t have the results of her PCR test back in time, which is a great shame, but she is too poorly to make the journey whatever she has, we have a funeral tomorrow following the tragic death of a friend and I was looking forward to seeing DD and the GCs when I got home. oh well, there will be other days.
As someone else said earlier a day to count our blessings.

I’ve got a chat arranged with my cousin shortly. I’ve been meaning to phone her for weeks. Then I’m not too sure about the rest off the day. Understandably theres a real low on the thread this morning so I’ m sending everyone some flowers.

The best of all mornings to all. I know today must be a hard one for many who lost a dear friend yesterday. I felt privileged to listen to Phoenix on You and Yours. Thank you to those who made that possible.
No plans bar opening vast amounts of post/parcels that have accumulated in the living room. Please don't laugh but DH like to leave things for three days before we open. So we do. Looks like a sorting office. Having said that I now appreciate the joy of anticipation as I wait to read my magazines and other correspondence that makes me smile. Sitting with Ddog in the dining room. He has a sofa here. Next to the sofa is his inordinately expensive dog bed which he uses to climb onto the sofa.. Take care everyone. Every day is precious.

Good morning from a grey skied Colchester. It's dry so I've dared to put the washing out and have another load on the go.
I felt quite low last night with yesterday's sad news on here and having heard of a friend whose family has Covid.
Thursday is housework and supermarket day. Online quiz with family tonight. This has been a way of keeping in touch with family since March 2020. Some have dropped out and we're hoping to all be together for the first time since then on Bank Holiday weekend.

Sad news, indeed, about Pheonix think I’m too new on here to remember her - or my memory is just too bad!!
I await my shopping from Sainsbury’s, I also await the news that I can pick up my Workbook from PC World! We haven’t been apart for so long unless I’ve been abroad.
Apart from that it’s a nothingness day.

Grey morning here in SW Herts, matches the mood. So many good thoughts for Phoenix's family up thread, can't really add to those, but agree with all.

DD and family safely back from Italy and have collected their madcap cocker spaniel from friends. How do you cure a madcap cocker of his total obsession with balls, to the exclusion of food, attention or any other toys?

Have to take my laptop into the hospice to be updated this morning, haven't entered the building for over a year, been working remotely for the past 19 months. It will be sad to see it so underused.

My thoughts with everyone, life goes on, hoping something gives you cheer today ??????

Good morning all. It’s currently cloudy in our corner of Lancashire. Mr. B. is taking me out today to a local stately home which has wonderful gardens. If it’s raining there’s a covered courtyard where one can have coffee and cake.

Thank you for the radio link to Phoenix yesterday. Her comment about having a “pretty good sense of humour” was modest and very understated. My sympathies to her husband and many friends. so very sad.

Good morning all, a very sad week this week, much sympathy to Phoenix’sfamily.
Made me think of how many ‘regular’ posters have disappeared in the years I have been following GN and that we never know what has happened to them. As I mentioned once before lots of us don’t have anyone to pass on personal things.

Good morning, Mick and everyone. It's cool and grey yet again in Carlisle but I'm hoping it will stay dry so that I can mow the lawn. Otherwise, a day of catching up with little jobs.
Yesterday I went into the centre with a bag of books for Oxfam who have a specialist bookstore here. Some of the books were in Spanish and they have shelves devoted to foreign language books so the best place for them. I didn't come out empty-handed though, I rarely do from any bookshop. I also came home with a large bag of spring bulbs, it helps me through the winter thinking of them in flower next year.
I have just listened to Phoenix on the radio. What an example she is to us all...if that talk gets more of us thinking and living positively then she has left a great legacy.
Nothing more to be said.

It feels warmer though as it's not as breezy as yesterday.

Just finished my Pilates class so feel a little more supple ?.

Good morning from the Sefton coast where it is raining, quite befitting the sadness felt on GN.
It is the planned garden party today. We have contingency plans though I’d prefer to be in the garden. On my waterproof coat is a badge which has taken on more significance recently. It is a flamingo bought from Cancer Research.

Good morning to you all from north yorks. The weather is keeping us guessing, mostly grey and overcast to look at but sometimes feels quite warm and then chilly. After helping a friend yesterday today is a very domestic day trying to catch up with jobs. My back is very painful today so it has to be doing a bit at a time as and when I am able to . Decided to be optimistic and put some washing out and the next lot in to wash and after keeping a good eye on it have managed to get the first lot dry so that is a good start. Now I am listening to radio 4 with clemency burton-hill ( the presenter who had a bleed on her brain and is having to relearn how to talk and play music) Planet Bach where she is talking to and hearing people talking about playing Bach every day. I do listen or sing Bach every day and feel that there is something special about Bach that will bring comfort to many and hope that there will be a piece to listen to that will be soothing for all of you that are feeling so sad today.

Rather late to the party but just wanted to add my very sincere condolences to the family of Phoenix.
I don't often post as it is always late evening when I get to read the Gransnet thread but have been reading the posts for many years. I loved reading her posts and have had many a laugh. So hearing that she had died was very sad news. May she rest in peace.
