Listened to two way family favourites every Sunday forgot about that one

I remember listerning to Sing Something Simple it was on because the tv used to close down for a couple of hours I think, Then tv back on for Sunday Night At The London Paladium. Billy Cotton used to shout " Wakey Wakeeeeey"! I think the music to it was "Somebody stole my girl". I remember my Dad singing along to it. Lovely memorys.

Ah yes, I remember my mum setting up her ironing board next to the wireless so she could catch up with Mrs Dale. Then later in the day my brother and I would strain to hear Dan Dare on a crackly Radio Luxembourg.
There was usually one of our cats on top of the radio keeping warm as it snoozed!

Mrs Dales Diary - that's a blast from the past, I occasionally listened with my mother - now there's another one, "Listen
with Mother"! I, too, loved "Round the Horn" and "The Clitheroe Kid"
My DH still listens to The Archers!!

Does anyone except me remember listening to 'At the Luscombes' ? Long before 'The Archers', it was set in somewhere like Dorset and the cast all had wonderful West Country accents. It was all quite working class I think. I was very young, (77 now), but I remember listening with my mother and enjoying it. Or have I made this up - because I can't find anyone else who has heard of it!

I remember all the programmes that have been mentioned and many more. Just yesterday on BBC4 Extra, I listened to the last ever ‘Round The Horn’. And laughed out loud. Always a radio addict and still am, I listen to the old programmes repeated when I cannot sleep. Recently there have been repeats on 4 Extra of ‘A Life Of Bliss’ with George Cole, then a young man with Percy Edwards yapping away as his dog called Psyche, I think!
Childrens Hour started my addiction with programmes like ‘Jennings at School’ and ‘Ballet Shoes’.

I am still a huge fan of Round the Horne - who could forget Armpit Theatre’s productions of ‘Lipharvest of the River’ or ‘The Admirable Loombucket’! Or Kenneth Williams’ line “you look a little tired my dear; come, rest your head on this bacon slicer!”

NanKate, you beat me to it! I was just about to ask if anyone remembered the Huggets, I used to love it, it later transferred to TV, but didn`t run for very long.
I also fondly remember Al Read, loved the bits where he pretended to be a child, "Dad, dad, can I knock the fly off that man`s head dad?"

Remember nearly all of them, such happy memories. Loved Educating Archie, but have to admit that it wasn’t until I was much older that I realised how daft it was to have a ventriloquist on the radio!

Nearly forgot to thank Callistemon for enlightening me regarding Lillian Gish. Because bof the laughter which ensued every time it was mentioned, I was expecting someone not exactly good looking, but she was quite pretty.

There was a program about a young family all played/spoken by the dad, the baby talked gobbledegook and dad used to ask the daughter ‘Whatdid Horace say Winnie’ . I can’t remember what it was called but we still ask that question sometimes!!
Anyone remember?

Used to listen to Mrs Dales Diary with my Mum when I came home from school, loved wagoners walk I also listen to Kings Street Juniors on Radio 4 Extra and would never miss an episode of the Archers.
